Has Chris Hipkins got a chance to win 2023 Election?
Posted by: zkted - 22-01-2023, 04:38 PM - Forum: PC World Chat - Replies (34)

Unfortunately I think he has a chance because he is calling New Zealand New Zealand instead  of aoteroa. My kids at Chinese NY lunch picked up on it and to my horror said they would probaly vote for him.

Serena Williams now baptized as a Jehovah's Witness
Posted by: C_T_Russell - 21-01-2023, 01:48 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (11)

It was always common knowledge that she claimed to be "in" the religion,  but she was never officially a member until now.
Such a shame that such a respected feminist icon that woman could look up to is now part of a misogynistic cult.
I would have never considered her someone who lived up to the strict standards the cult requires of their members and has largely lived a double life, waiting to retire from her career to officially become a member.
Expect to see way less public appearances of her from now on.
I wonder how long she will stay a member?
She isint the first celebrity to become a JW, we had prince and I know when I was a member of the cult that many didn't consider him to be a genuine member.

  Laptop battery replacement
Posted by: jayess64 - 21-01-2023, 01:11 PM - Forum: PressF1 - Replies (9)

The battery in my 5-year old Asus laptop has reached the end of the road and I want to replace it. In searching for a supplier I get the feeling that I have fallen down some sort of rabbit-hole. I have found 4 websites offering wide selections of replacement batteries. Three of them, batteryupgrade.co.nz, batterybuy.co.nz and nzbattery.co.nz, are suspiciously similar in appearance and appear to be fronts for a Chinese company. "Buyer reviews" are displayed, and most of these seem to contain complaints about delivery times, poor battery quality and refund problems. Some of the reviews go so far as to describe the suppliers as "scammers" and "frauds". Not exactly encouraging.

The fourth supplier, ebattery.co.nz, is also Chinese (stated on the web page) but has a different appearance to the others. My problem after seeing all this is, who can I believe? Has anyone had experience with obtaining a replacement battery and can offer some advice? A couple of years ago I found a replacement battery for my wife's laptop at PB Tech in Wellington, and it worked OK. PB Tech don't offer a suitable replacement this time, hence my new search. However, I now see that the illustration in the PB Tech catalogue appears identical to that shown in the 3 companies named above.

Any comments or advice gratefully accepted.

Is this what this place has come to now?
Posted by: Oldfellah - 21-01-2023, 08:53 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (19)

There are several people on here that when others disagree with them especially about the government they just go loopy and tend to put the other person down as nastily as they can.
I thought this place was for having intelligent discussion and not tit for tat put downs, we have a lot of new members on here now and it seems as though the old hands are doing there best to make them unwelcome by insulting them instead of having a discussion and if this continues they just may bugger off to the other message board, Im disgusted at some of the remarks made on here by the old hands and I would love to say my piece but then that would make me as bad as they are, so come on TMMB get your shit together.
