We could have had EV's 2 decades ago!
Posted by: nzoomed - 27-01-2023, 02:01 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (16)

Didnt know about the General Motors EV1 until now.
Looks like politics got in the way and the cars were all destroyed. Imagine where EV technology would be today if they had let EV's become the norm, this is going way back into the 90s!

How do I get streamed content to TV
Posted by: brucem - 27-01-2023, 01:54 PM - Forum: PressF1 - Replies (5)

We have just watched streamed funeral on our desktop.  Is there any way to get this onto our TV?  We have fibre and use it to stream content from netflix, and TVNZ+ via WiFi. The computer is connected to the router by a LAN cable, and the TV uses WiFi.

  Russian Missile hits Turkish ship...

Meaning they have hit a NATO member this time.
I doubt it was intentional, but how will NATO react this time?
Its lucky no one was on board the ship or else this would have really escalated.

Russia is really playing with fire, especially when they cant accurately hit targets, or in this case it just appears to be a random indiscriminate attack.

What is your opinion of this laptop?
Posted by: Roscoe - 27-01-2023, 09:44 AM - Forum: Computing and Technology - Replies (5)

I am looking to buy a new laptop and saw this one advertised online at a very good price of $279, about two thirds the price of others I have seen. I would be interested in your opinion, particularly your opinion, Wainui.

High profile entertainer looses money in scam

If only he had an ad blocker.
I find the web is unusable without one these days, using an ad blocker for so long its only when I'm working on an other computer without one installed  that I realise how many ads appear on web pages, and a good percentage are all scams.

You would think that they would know where their heart is
Posted by: Roscoe - 27-01-2023, 05:57 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

When singing their national anthem why do the Yanks put their hand/fist over their left tit? It seems that they believe their heart is on the left side of their chest.

I don't know about you, but my heart is in the middle of my chest, albeit slightly to the left.

I start to wonder if the Yanks are a race apart from the rest of the world.

The unfortunate part of that practice is that many gullible people copy the Yanks and also put their hand/fist over their left tit.  Rolleyes

Chris Hipkins meets with Auckland business bosses during his first outing as PM
Posted by: Oldfellah - 26-01-2023, 12:01 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (5)

https://tinyurl.com/2nkdb3hv

Chris Hipkins has met with high-powered chief executives, during his first outing as prime minister.

On Thursday morning, Hipkins travelled to Auckland, where he assured business leaders he was aware of their concerns about skills shortages.

Simon Bridges, the chair of the Auckland Business Chamber and former National Party leader, organised the meeting and introduced Hipkins to a packed room of CEOs, including the bosses of Fonterra, NZME and TVNZ.

On labour market issues, Hipkins said he knew it was ÔÇ£the number one issueÔÇØ impacting business ÔÇô but he said opening immigration further was not the only solution.

So what is the solution except to bring in more immigrants to do the skilled and non skilled jobs that are not being filled by New Zealanders?

  LastPass data hack
Posted by: king1 - 26-01-2023, 08:20 AM - Forum: Computing and Technology - Replies (3)

Anyone using lastpass, or any password manager for that reason.  I never have and now with them going online and cloud based, gives me even less incentive

Quote:┬áFor the security service's 25.6 million users, though, the company made┬áa worrying announcement┬áon December 22: A security incident the firm had previously reported (on November 30) was actually a massive and concerning data breach that exposed encrypted password vaultsÔÇöthe crown jewels of any password managerÔÇöalong with other user data.┬á
