Former MP Mursal Nabizada, & her bodyguard have been shot dead at her home in Kabul.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-64285789
"Mursal Nabizada, 32, was one of the few female MPs who stayed in Kabul after the Taliban seized power in August 2021.
Her brother and a second security guard were wounded in the attack on Sunday.
Former colleagues praised Ms Nabizada as a "fearless champion for Afghanistan" who turned down a chance to leave the country.
Since the Taliban returned to power in 2021, women have been removed from nearly all areas of public life.
Former lawmaker Mariam Solaimankhil said Ms Nabizada was "a true trailblazer - strong, outspoken woman who stood for what she believed in, even in the face of danger".
"Despite being offered the chance to leave Afghanistan, she chose to stay and fight for her people," she wrote on Twitter.
Ms Nabizada, from the eastern province of Nangarhar, was elected as a member of parliament from Kabul in 2018 and stayed in power until the Taliban takeover.
She was a member of the parliamentary defence commission and worked at the Institute for Human Resources Development and Research.
Hannah Neumann, a member of the European Parliament, said: "I am sad and angry and want the world to know!" in response to the killing.
"She was killed in darkness, but the Taliban build their system of gender apartheid in full daylight."

I watch a programme called "Outrageous Acts of Science" and in one article they showed someone, a fair distance from their car, attempt to unlock their car. It did not work. Then he pointed the remote under his chin and pressed the button again and it worked! Apparently it has something to do with the fact that your brain is 95% water and it seems that that amplifies the signal.
Next time I was out shopping I thought I would give it a try. I could not unlock it the conventional way as I knew I was too far away and it did not work, so I put it under my chin, pressed the button and it worked! Both SWMBO and I were quite surprised.
When you are out shopping next, give it a try. From a distance try to unlock your car in the conventional manner. When you see that it does not work, try putting the remote under your chin. I'm certain you will be as surprised as we were.

I am considering purchasing a new PC and I will want to transfer my many files and jpgs from the old to the new and I was wondering what is the best way to go about it. I wondered if I should use a cable with an RJ45 plug or would a cable with a USB plug be better or does it matter which one I use or is there another better way? Wi-Fi perhaps? If so how do I go about it?
Thanks for your help. It is appreciated.

| External hard drive - adapter |

I've been plugging in an old Maxtor 500GB external drive via a surge protector once a week to do backups. Last time I plugged it in the adapter immediately went pop and tripped the whole electrical circuit. The socket on the surge protector seems OK.
Is it likely to be just an adapter problem or is the drive itself more likely to be fried?
I don't have another adapter to try it on but would hunt for one if there's a reasonable chance of success.
I don't actually need anything off the drive but would prefer to recycle rather than just have a paperweight if possible. I've started using another drive for backups.
