And...the big winner is - Philip Morris!

Fantastic; SO good to know that someone, somewhere will benefit from the idiocy of this govt. Rolleyes Dodgy Dodgy

Blatant, uncaring, greed motivated, callous behaviour from this govt. Casey Costello was told that Philip Morris would be the biggest winner from the tax cuts for Heated Tobacco Products, told they were toxic & more harmful than vaping but claimed to have got her own independent advice & went ahead.

Our health system seems to be falling apart
Posted by: Lilith7 - 30-09-2024, 10:41 AM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (15)

And there appears to be virtually  nothing being done to change that. Our health system has been progressivey worsening over decdades, thanks to the idiocy of Neo Liberalism & unless every govt from now on makes a determined effort nothng will change & there will be more incidents like these.

There had previously been a stay of execution when DNA on the handle of the knife was found not to be from Williams.

I'm so glad we no longer have the death penalty here.

If the downgrade of Dunedin hospital goes ahead; govt might want to take heed. Quite a lot of farming people need that hospital & they tend to often be Nat voters.

Another crackdown, on truancy this time.

They're calling it the star system...but not until 2026

At its worst, it could see parents prosecuted if their kids don't attend school. Just fabulous, criminalise parents.

And they don't like teacher only days - according to ACT all that should be done during school hours.

Ferries and a coalition in crisis
Posted by: harm_less - 25-09-2024, 03:09 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (13)

As previously forecast by many the cracks are starting to appear in our coalition government as opposing minor parties wheel their barrows out with a PM that lacks the political nous or leadership abilities to bring them to heel.

  Shop Pay automated system
Posted by: harm_less - 25-09-2024, 01:51 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

Yesterday I received a message through my cellphone advising me that delivery of an order from a company in the Auckland region was delayed because of 'missing numbers in the delivery address. Strangely as I received the message while driving the car's infotainment system read the message out to me but no record of that message remained later?? I guessed the missing number was the lack of an RD route number as I had a delivery delayed for this reason just a couple of weeks back. Also the Auckland company had been in contact when I first placed the order to request payment of the rural surcharge which hadn't been included in their checkout process. Incidentally the purchase process happened a lot faster than I was expecting as no address or delivery info was required and the order was done and dusted way sooner than would normally be the case.

It seems to me that my delivery address info, and credit card data, used in this order was taken from the Shop Pay database. I received the usual request to install the Shop pay app after I made this order to allow me to track the item but as this was already accessible through the 'Sweetspot' delivery system I didn't take the bait.

On investigating further it seems that Shop Pay is part of the Shopify platform. So, having now cancelled my profile (address, etc.) on the Shop Pay website how can I prevent this database again harvesting my purchasing and delivery information when I next purchase from a seller with a Shopify enabled checkout.

We are rural but for international orders I don't include this detailing in my delivery details as it's not required, likewise for a 'free delivery' purchase. For some domestic orders I will opt for P.O. Box or an alternative urban address to minimise delivery costs but this wasn't even available during my recent purchase, so I was stuck with paying an extra rural surcharge.

Can an of the more tech savvy amongst our members shed some light on this situation, and whether I'm correct in my assumptions of what's going on?
