Dame Gaylene Preston on cuts to Arts
Posted by: Lilith7 - 29-08-2024, 03:31 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (4)

She called our delightful govt. 'daft'....I could think of other terms. Rolleyes

Those schools which are 'art rich' tend to have high attendance rates, which is hardly surprising. If they want kids at school & enjoying it then its blindingly obvious that arts of all kinds is the way to achieve that.

But alas - it seems that idiot politicians are somehow threatened by the arts & would prefer us all to be obedient, unthinking, grey robot-like creatures..

Creatives in schools was stopped from the start of the financial year 2024/2025

Building starts on our largest solar farm
Posted by: Lilith7 - 28-08-2024, 04:03 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (9)

Very interesting photo of politicians - you have to wonder just how familiar any of that lot are with a  spade, brand spanking new spades by the look of them, too... Rolleyes Big Grin

Not that there's a problem with a solar farm in principle. Its just the quote down the page a bit, about how the solar panels are designed to 'observe' the sun rather than reflect it, so as not to cause problems for the nearby airport.

He's on record as wanting three debates with Kamala Harris...but now, he's threatening not to take part in the debate.

Kamala Harris & her team want open mics & apparently that's a problem for Trump....can't think why. Rolleyes Big Grin Big Grin

So my renewal to Eset Internet Security has come up and the only option to renew is for the EIS, whereas I want to go back to the antivirus only.
How do I do that? Apply for a new one?

  Big Tobacco lobbying a success

Casey Costello denied that it existed. Now, she's released it but with parts redacted.

Perhaps its time to put an end to lobby groups. Dodgy

  Rage-baiting
Posted by: king1 - 23-08-2024, 10:00 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (4)

This is why social media is so fucked up

Quote:Rage-baiting, or rage-farming, has a new wave of content creators and social media influencers not only inciting rage online - but profiting off viewers' anger too.
At its core, rage-baiting is a manipulative tactic used by content creators to elicit outrage from their viewers. The idea is that if you're angry, you're more likely to comment, share, react, and ultimately increase the online engagement of that video, which helps content creators drive more traffic to their channels and earn more revenue.
