Thumbs Down geoengineering is very real

And the risks likely outweigh the benefits, perhaps this is where these chemtrail CTs have originated from?
As far as I'm aware,  NZ is not conducting this anywhere thankfully but it is some cause for concern.
I believe Dubai has been doing this heavily at the moment.

Did not see this coming with their endless greenwashing.
Perhaps they have finally woken up to the fact it's unrealistic and unachievable, not to mention cost prohibitive?

  286 more jobs gone
Posted by: Lilith7 - 16-08-2024, 03:43 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (7)

Very interesting that they're doing this & at the same time, very deliberately making life even more diiffult for people on benefits. These are clearly not people who care about the well being of their fellow humans - unless they happen to be wealthy. Dodgy

More than half of jobs in Te Whatu Ora have now gone so the question is how the devil do they expect it to still be able to function properly?

Where do they expect those made jobless to find other work, especially if they're older people?

  Freaky ....
Posted by: SueDonim - 16-08-2024, 02:45 PM - Forum: Computing and Technology - Replies (1)

My phone did an update the other day, and the next day the desktop screen showed Google Stories which I had never seen before. That launched a slide show of neat cat photos called "Cute kittens in [where I live]" and had music added. It took me a few moments to realise that what Google had done was use one day's worth of photos of the neighbour's cats and from that create the slide show. Very easy when you think it through, but I had a definite "What the ????" moment nevertheless.

I usually use real cameras and rarely take photos with the phone. It was just that day the cats were having fun and I had my phone in my hand at the time.

Sadly, I doubt they'll be listened to. This govt has its own agenda which doesn't include taking heed of advice which is contrary to that.

  Controlling what beneficiaries can buy
Posted by: Lilith7 - 15-08-2024, 12:14 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (17)

The usual beneficiary bashing from this govt, the latest move to control what poor people on benefits can buy - the govt attitude appears to be that 'these people cannot be permitted a minute's enjoyment & must not be allowed to spend on things considered unwise by govt.'

https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/top/524919/wa...eficiaries

But it is an interesting idea...& if used for anothert group, could genuinely make some helpful difference.
 Just not to beneficiaries.

Suppose we were to apply this idea to say, politicians.  Rolleyes Big Grin Big Grin

Suppose we the voters were able to control their spending...no more fancy hotels when travelling, a more modest one will do, or even a hostel ( though that could perhaps be unfair. To other guests) & of course, unless they're entertaining a guest as part of their duties, no need for fancy restaurants either.

And for those not living in Welly, no doubt a modest Kainga Ora flat can be kept for their use while in parliament. And too, we could trim or do away with, those lifelong perks they get on retirement.

There must be all sorts of things politicians get that we could cut back on... Rolleyes

  reCAPTCHA and ASB
Posted by: Bryan - 13-08-2024, 08:58 AM - Forum: PressF1 - Replies (4)

I bank with ASB. Before 8am I cannot log into my bank because of an infernal game of select the squares with bikes, buses, traffic lights etc. reCAPTCHA is tied up with Google's security system and I wonder if it can be turned off in my PC. Otherwise, is it a security program that ASB turn on when out of hours?

  Housing; critics doubt govt claims
Posted by: Lilith7 - 12-08-2024, 03:26 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (2)

Apparently, there are a lot of doubting Thomas's out there who don't believe that this govt has actually managed to house 1000 children rather than temporary housing in motels. They say that if govt cuts down on emergency housing, that  means more people living in cars or becoming homeless.

It is quite difficult to see exactly how cracking down on unruly Kainga Ora tenants and emergency housing tenants will help, since those people they've 'cracked down' on will pesumably become homeless as a result.

https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/5248...BUSnE_SXQA

And this is unlikely to help either...

Whats the point of a driver rollback when windows just reverts automatically?
Posted by: nzoomed - 12-08-2024, 10:58 AM - Forum: Computing and Technology - Replies (4)

Got a computer here using an ASUS wifi adapter with an intel chipset, and last week I ran a windows update then next thing the wifi would not detect any wireless networks, rolled back the driver and all was good again, give it 24 hours and it automatically went back to the "newer" driver, so next thing i tried was removing the device from device manager and removed all traces of the drivers installed, downloaded and installed the latest version and once again was working again. Now this morning windows has taken it upon itself to just go back to the faulty driver, ironically the version I downloaded from intel was still far newer than what driver windows was automatically downloading.

Never had to do this before, but this group policy hack may be the solution.
You would think that telling windows to rollback should be enough to send the message that the newer version was causing issues.
