That feeling when you've got way too many caterpillars and not enough swan plants.
Why do they have to be so god damned picky? They turned up their nose at the pumpkin. Apparently they eat cucumber but then I'd have nothing for sandwiches...

"Game on" says Luxon |

It always sounds slightly silly when politicians try to sound trendy, hip, modern or whatever they're trying to convey.
Some interesting comments but coming from someone with his perspective - e.g. business background - some of it just doesn't ring true.
https://www.odt.co.nz/star-news/star-nat...hfmIAO9yOw
"Luxon said he'd recently visited a few other towns where people outlined concerns.
"Lots of New Zealand's doing it tough."
Hardworking Kiwis were suffering from a rising cost of living outstripping wage growth, Luxon said in his speech today.
"But it's not enough to just oppose," he said.
He said he wanted to focus on outcomes and to allow every person to reach the "Kiwi dream".
Not really things with which his party has bothered to concern itself with in the past, though I think they may have made similar comments previously. In an election year, usually.
"Luxon said centre-right parties worldwide faced a perception problem, as too many voters thought such parties were not compassionate.
"We care deeply about people. That's why we're here."
Really, Christopher? Only its just a wee bit difficult for many of us to actually believe that one.
You might want to look at the past conduct of your party when in govt - with particular reference to people such as Jenny Shipley & Ruth Richardson, &  things such as 'The mother of all budgets' & in particular, the effects of that particular piece of cruelty. There was good reason for the nicknames of Ruthless & Jennycide, & when even a past leader of National, Jim Bolger, has developed sufficient conscience to speak against what was done then by both Labour & National in imposing Neo Liberalism on this country, then it might be time for a different way.

Charlotte Bellis |

As much as I admire Ms Bellis for doing what she does ("attractive journalist in war-torn country"), she's starting to grind my gears.
She leaves NZ multiple times to ply her trade overseas. Goes to Afghanistan and stays there despite multiple warnings that "Hey, this place might not be safe". She gets worldwide fame for being a mysterious blonde woman that dared to ask a question at a press conference. Gets knocked up by a Belgian and desperately tries to come home except MIQ gets in the way. Whinges publicly, and says how it's unsafe for her to stay in Afghanistan. Government says try applying in a different category for when it's unsafe to stay in a country, and and now she reckons it would be insincere to do that because Afghanistan have been nice to her.
Lady, you can't keep swapping horses in the home straight. Pick one.

Mr luxon the nat helmsman seems to have garnered some approval in the latest round of polling stats.
not votes mind, approval.
Ms ardern has slipped back. there was no way she was ever going to maintain the head of steam she had pre covid and built up during, covid has worked for labour the last couple of years, but only delaying the inevitable.
Pre covid labour was at a watershed of failure. housing, crime, cancelled infrastructure, ineptitude and bumbling.
they are still the same party they were when they got into power. A dogs breakfast. phil twyford probably sums it up.
hopeless.
we were lucky to have labour in power when covid kicked off. the nats dont do empathy all that well.
i think that as covid fades, or we become accustomed to it, we are going to start looking at fiscal governance as a priority. labour dont do fiscal well.
this is the beginning of that shift.

having to wear a mask all day in class when it is so hot. February has always been the hottest month, which was why I had to stop playing interclub tennis.
I think it's inhumane and cruel, and I would keep my child away from school and homeschool.
It's far more difficult to communicate in every way with a mask on.
I feel sorry for parents having to make this decision.

Anyone got any info, (consumer ?), or similar about Clothes dryers
Ours just died and needs replacement - preferrably before they all go up in price as I was just reading today.
Everything is going up.
Sp anyway I'd like to replace the clothes dryer - for say around $1000.  The old one was a Hoover lol - and it lasted about 30 years.
If anyone is a member of Consumer and they can access a report on quality/cost/review etc that'd be good .
Other than that - reccomendations ?
Ps: I'm NOT spending $3k on a bloody 'heatpump' dryer.  It wont get used that much to be worth it.  Theres only two of us oldies.
