Window Vacs for condensation
Posted by: bellbird - 18-05-2023, 12:15 PM - Forum: PC World Chat - Replies (18)

In my smallish flat I have 20+ windows of varying sizes to wipe down during the winter. I have a squeegee thing which collects water in the handle and does a reasonable job but it's quite a chore first thing in the morning and I'm over it already.   Anyone using a battery vac eg Karchers? They seem really expensive, the smallest one is around $100. Do they do a good job?

More weapons to Ukraine from the UK

Looks like they will be getting a bunch more drones and Missiles, which the ones delivered have already proven useful.

two poultry workers in UK contract Bird Flu
Posted by: C_T_Russell - 17-05-2023, 11:45 AM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (1)

Looks like they must not only have the disease present in the UK, but must be conducting regular testing on the workers.
At least they didnt have any symptoms, so it cant be a serious strain like H5N1

Thumbs Down Woke have killed Police Ten 7
Posted by: C_T_Russell - 17-05-2023, 11:36 AM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (7)

TVNZ unfortunately appears to have been impacted by an unprecedented surge of wokeness, and it's disheartening to see that the state owners bear a significant responsibility for this situation.
Notably, Winston Peters has fearlessly voiced his concerns, aligning with the sentiments expressed by the former host, Graham Bell. These individuals have bravely spoken out against the concerning trend that has permeated the network.
In a sea of mediocre content flooding our television screens, this particular show stood out as one of the few gems that genuinely entertained and engaged viewers, myself included. Alongside programs like Motorway Patrol, it offered a refreshing and captivating viewing experience.
Regrettably, it appears that the prioritization of radical left ideologies has taken precedence over the show's commitment to presenting objective and honest content. It is truly disheartening to witness the producers' being accused of "over-representation" of a specific race on the show, as dictated by the individuals encountered by law enforcement.
The importance of accurately and truthfully reflecting the demographics of our society cannot be understated. From my observations, I find little to no evidence of bias or excessive representation on this show. The program has diligently strived to maintain a fair and balanced portrayal of the realities it aims to depict.
Over the past two decades, this show has played an instrumental role in solving numerous serious crimes. Its contribution to crime prevention and law enforcement efforts cannot be overstated. However, it seems that the concerns of the far left, who appear to disregard the escalating crime rates in New Zealand, have prevailed. Unfortunately, we have all borne witness to the rise in gun violence and robberies over the past five years, and regrettably, this trend is only expected to worsen following the cancellation of this invaluable program

"11 people unaccounted for
We have an update now on the number of people still accounted for after a fire at a hostel in Wellington, New Zealand.
Brendon Nally, the Deputy National Commander of New ZealandÔÇÖs Fire and Emergency services, has just told Stuff.NZ, that emergency services are still searching for 11 people.
He said firefighters had saved ÔÇ£several dozenÔÇØ people.

Loafers Lodge resident Tamrat Isse Ada said he has lost everything except his jacket and phone. He has been living at the lodge for the

past year. He happened to be going to the toilet when he realised there was a fire, he told Stuff.NZ.

ÔÇ£There was smoke and the alarm was going from upstairs,ÔÇØ he said.

ÔÇ£When I come from the toilet there was smelling everywhere, smoke ... people running everywhere. I just jumped to my room, and I take my jacket and my mobile, thatÔÇÖs it.ÔÇØ He escaped down the stairs and out the door. He could see nothing in the dark.
ÔÇ£The alarm they keep going every week, two times, three times, thereÔÇÖs no good management there,ÔÇØ he said.

Emergency services are still expecting that ÔÇ£up to 10ÔÇØ people have died, Hipkins said.
He added that it is expected when crews enter the building that the number will rise.
Marie Murphy, the hostelÔÇÖs property manager, has described the mix of residents.
ÔÇ£WeÔÇÖve got everyone living there. We have nurses. WeÔÇÖve had doctors, nurses, unemployed people, meat workers, hospital staff. All sorts of people. A real variety of people,ÔÇØ she told Stuff.NZ."

Shocked When Bishop Brian goes to town . . .
Posted by: R2x1 - 15-05-2023, 09:49 AM - Forum: PC World Chat - Replies (12)

There'll surely be a lot of questions raised should the DIY ecclesiastical wonder-boy get into the Beehive.
One might be just how he intends to apply the "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's, and unto god that which is god's" rule?
Does that give a parliamentary bishop the total bite rights to both cherries?
All your cherries are belong to me?

Also, just how do you go about defrosting Hades?
Huh

It looks like 'Life with Brian" could cease to be a comedy.

A very interesting and insightful opinion piece from our New Plymouth mayor. Sums up where we're at on a regional and national level, and how it needs to be addressed. https://www.stuff.co.nz/taranaki-daily-n...aintenance
