I usually have a few items on my watch list.
Sometimes one will just disappear without any trace.
Dosent show in lost list, or seller has removed, or trademe has removed.
Often wonder what goes on there.

Jacinda Ardern's face on loo set - Rotary apology
Posted by: Lilith7 - 07-05-2023, 04:09 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (55)

Well - how very unsurprising - it seems that some boys never do manage to grow up.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/1319680...oilet-seat

"How a caricature mask of Jacinda Ardern ended up attached to the lid of a toilet seat trophy at an annual Rotary Club debate will be investigated.
The Rotary Club of St Johns has apologised for the offensive costumes and trophy seen at its annual debate evening on Friday.

Photos shared to the Rotary ClubÔÇÖs Facebook page on Friday evening, which have since been removed, showed club members celebrating with the traditional toilet seat trophy ÔÇô which has been used for decades.

The toilet seat lid had a mask of┬áformer prime minister Jacinda Ardern attached┬áby what appeared to be its elastic band ÔÇô the masks had earlier been worn by the Rotary Club of Auckland East.

Gary Key, St Johns club co-president, said he initially thought the mask had been accidentally placed on the lid, and that┬áno ÔÇ£maliceÔÇØ was intended.

Waitemat─ü Local Board member Greg Moyle, also a Rotarian, was the debate adjudicator on the night and can be seen at the front of the photo, one hand in the toilet bowl.

He said no one meant any disrespect to either politician in the debate topic, and said ÔÇ£there was nothing inappropriate about itÔÇØ.

So then, Greg Moyle & Gary Key would presumably have no objection & see no malice & nothing at all inappropriate should someone feature their photos - or that of  a family member of theirs - on a toilet seat?

I suppose there is a way to test that, isn't there... Rolleyes

Thumbs Up Drag queen storytelling canceled

Obviously the media like to make it sound like the protest was violent when in reality it wasn't, but at least it worked and were made to back off.
No kids need to be bought up to ser this kind of shit.
20 years ago it would have been unthinkable. Nowadays we have people that think this is called progress, it's the complete opposite.

"Awful & targeted" Librarians & teachers concerned
Posted by: Lilith7 - 07-05-2023, 11:47 AM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (16)

This is just beyond awful; surely we'd reached a point where gay & trans people are accepted as a part of the community yet the poison from America appears to be spreading around NZ, courtesy of a group of narrow minded hate filled bigots.
Its disgraceful that such backward idiocy is being spread here & I hope it can be stopped before it does more harm. Dodgy

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/educati...eaching-nz

The harassment started after a conversation on the playground, with a group of children arguing about whether it was legal for two men to marry.

ÔÇ£The other kids were arguing with him and saying, ÔÇÿno, you're wrongÔÇÖ. They called me over to answer the question,ÔÇØ said Harriet, who asked that her real name not be used because she was an ongoing target.
ÔÇ£It just so happened that I was on lunch duty. It wasn't a question at me because I'm gay. It was just literally a question that kids wanted answered to end the argument,ÔÇØ she said.
Harriet told the children that, in New Zealand, it was legal for two men or two women to get married, and thought nothing more of it.

Then, the emails began.

ÔÇ£They said that I was forcing my views on the children. They didnÔÇÖt want me to talk about or refer to gayness in any form, at any point. They wanted that ÔÇÿdisgusting flagÔÇÖ on the wall taken down,ÔÇØ Harriet said.

It was a rainbow pride flag that had been on HarrietÔÇÖs classroom wall for years without complaint.
ÔÇ£It was really awful and targeted. Then they started posting on Facebook. Someone came into school and took a photo of my classroom wall and then posted it.ÔÇØ

ÔÇ£TheyÔÇÖre saying weÔÇÖre teaching children inappropriate things. That weÔÇÖre going into classrooms and grooming children ÔÇô really awful stuff,ÔÇØ she said.

InsideOUT is used to facing backlash, but Besley said hate comments and emails had risen dramatically since March when anti-trans activist Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull, also known as Posie Parker, visited New Zealand."

so if you are maori you are allowed to jump ships?

How does this work exactly?
You can just switch like that from Labour to the maori party unelected?
Wouldn't you be required to remain as an independent MP until the next election?

  Display glitch on multiple monitors
Posted by: nzoomed - 06-05-2023, 03:13 PM - Forum: Computing and Technology - Replies (6)

Ive seen this happen on one site ive worked on where most workstations have 2 screens.
I thought it was a glitch in one of the apps they were using, or an issue with the display driver, but turns out 3 workstations all have the same symptoms.
Basically, there is a strip on the top of the window that overlaps with whatever is behind that window, you can think you are closing the app you have open but it actually will be clicking on the close button on the app behind it.
If no app is open, you will see the deskop instead, but the title bar will still be visible, but clicking on that strip will not affect the app open, but rather what is supposed to be there.
I will see if i can get a screenshot to share, but Im wondering if its a recent windows update to blame, but I cant seem to find anything about this issue with other people as far as im aware.
It only seems to affect the left hand screen, which in these cases is monitor 1, monitor number 2 seems OK from what I can tell.

Hawkesby and Hoskings again demonstrate their ignorance and gaucherie.  Bespoke does not mean what they think it means.   Or are they so disdainful of their followers that they don't care.

  Drone hits the Kremlin
Posted by: nzoomed - 04-05-2023, 10:39 AM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (10)

Looks like some kind of drone attacked the Kremlin last night.
It blew up over the dome of the roof, don't think it did much damage, but there was a fire on the roof.
As expected, putin claims Ukraine is responsible, but it looks to me like a partisan attack within Russian territory.
