Looks incredible.
I thought the video was CGI to begin with. Boston dynamics look a far more powerful and strong robot, but this has more human movements, with hands, etc and can perform more delicate tasks from what I can tell.

| Govt approved animal cruelty |

Absolutely monstrous! After all the work to get this cruel practice stopped, this greed blinded idiot govt is about to reinstate the live export of animals.
Our international reputation appears to be rapidly descending down the toilet at a great rate of knots.
They just appear to be hell bent on removing anything done by the previous govt, regardless of the harm it causes.
https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/country/50039...government
"For years, New Zealand exported cattle to China to help build their dairy herd, with nearly 135,000 cattle exported in 2021.
In April, Labour banned livestock exports, after an independent review found they could damage New Zealand's reputation regarding animal welfare.
National promised it would restart live exports, with 'gold standard' rules to protect animal welfare and safety.
Livestock Export New Zealand chairperson Mark Willis said the industry had been working on animal welfare rules for a while.
"Since Labour announced the ban (in September 2022), the industry has been working with the Ministry for Primary Industries on a weekly basis to improve welfare standards."
https://safe.org.nz/blog-articles/if-ele...ort-trade/
"The National Animal Welfare Advisory Committee recommended a ban on live export by sea, which was supported by animal welfare experts at SAFE, SPCA, World Animal Protection and many others.

Prior to the 2023 ban on live animal export by sea, animals were made to endure rough seas, injuries, and prolonged periods standing in their own excrement during transportation.
Transport by sea exposes animals to prolonged floor motion. Research in sheep has found that the animals demonstrate both behavioural and physiological signs that such movement causes stress.
Another study found that floor motion decreased rumination and lying time, and increased aggression and stress behaviour.
Not only are there health and welfare concerns during transport, but the welfare and treatment of the animals once they arrive at their destination are likely to be worse than their treatment in New Zealand.
Animals were often shipped to countries with low or no animal welfare legislation. Former Chair of the National Animal Welfare Advisory Committee (NAWAC), Dr John Hellstrom, stated that:
ÔÇ£The reality is they are mainly going to large feedlot operations, where there is high mortality and poor fertility. The way they treat bobby calves shouldnÔÇÖt be mentioned in public, and they donÔÇÖt have any significant welfare protocols for transport or slaughter.ÔÇØ
In 2019 the live export industry made up a very small proportion of primary production in value. At the time, the total live export industry contributed only 0.51% to all primary production income and only 0.78% of the value of animal product exports. Live exports by sea only made up 23% of the industry.
Several countries are already following in New ZealandÔÇÖs footsteps by also moving away from live animal exports due to the significant animal welfare concerns associated with this practice. Australia, Luxembourg, Brazil, and the European Union are all considering or have taken steps to phase out live animal exports, with high levels of public support for such measures.
Animal welfare standards have also been given consideration during Free Trade Agreement negotiations with the United Kingdom and the European Union."

I've got a project I'm working on that uses a Teltonika 4G router on solar power.
These units seem pretty powerful and can run scripts and have analog inputs and outputs.
I was going to use an arduino, but if I can get the router to run a script for me it will make the whole unit less complex.
I basically want it to activate a relay when the battery drops to a preset level, it seems this should be possible.
An added bonus would be a way to monitor the battery voltage remotely, might be able to do this through the web browser, but it might be possible to run something using ssh or telnet?

But to be fair, nor do most govts & politicians.
Although given that our new glorious leader is religious, perhaps we could have expected better, y'know, a bit of the Christian concern for the well being of others, especially at this time of thee year. Although that maybe only applies to the already wealthy...?
I'm amazed that anyone thought Luxon could in any way, control Winnie.
https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/l...VUX3Z3AVY/
"Hipkins said that the new Prime Minister Christopher Luxon needs to show some leadership, particularly towards Winston Peters, who Hipkins claims has overstepped majorly.
ÔÇ£He needs to talk to Winston Peters and tell him his comments are unacceptable,ÔÇØ Hipkins said.
Hipkins called on Luxon to ÔÇ£stamp it outÔÇØ and ÔÇ£act like a prime ministerÔÇØ.
ÔÇ£I am not overly confident that Luxon has control over his government,ÔÇØ he said.
ÔÇ£New Zealanders did not vote for a windfall gain for landlords being applied retrospectively, which is effectively what they are planning to do with the announcements they have made.ÔÇØ
On the removal of the smoke-free laws, Hipkins said it was ÔÇ£morally reprehensibleÔÇØ.
ÔÇ£It shows just two days into government they have already lost their moral compass,ÔÇØ Hipkins said.
ÔÇ£It is an international embarrassment as well, the first major headline that this government has attracted is their decision to increase the number of New Zealanders who smoke cigarettes.ÔÇØ

Approximately 20 seconds after the present idiot govt passed their landlord-friendly 90 day no fault eviction, some heartless prickles gave their tenants notice.
in the season of goodwill to all, you'd think they might have at least waited until after the Xmas/New Year period but apparently greed won't wait.
https://www.thepress.co.nz/a/nz-news/350...uff_skybox
"Tenants of about 30 neighbouring Christchurch houses that were previously bought for a mall expansion that never happened have been given 90 days to move out.
The properties, on Marshland and Golf Links roads by The Palms mall in Shirley, have been sold as a single lot by Australian investment fund Dexus, which took them over from previous owner AMP Capital.
The houses were left unsold when AMP Capital sold the mall to another investor for $88.8 million last year.
The sale of the houses is now unconditional, and the tenants have been told they must leave by early March to provide vacant possession.
Dexus spokesman Luke OÔÇÖDonnell confirmed the sale but said details, including the identity of the buyer and the price, remain confidential.┬áThe land is zoned┬áfor redevelopment either as medium density housing or commercial use.
Golf Links Rd resident Hamish McDougall is one of those who received an eviction notice last week.
McDougall, a retiree aged 68, said the property manager had kept them informed about the properties being up for sale, but they had hoped some would still be rented out.
He said many in the neighbourhood were shocked, partly because of having to find a new home at this time of year.
ÔÇ£ItÔÇÖs bloody lovely, right on Christmas, and weÔÇÖre going to lose a month because of Christmas.
ÔÇ£IÔÇÖve been here 23 years. They want everybody out - I canÔÇÖt believe theyÔÇÖre going to knock them all down.ÔÇØ
McDougall said he has started looking for another rental, but it was difficult to find one that would take his 1-year-old terrier, Scout. He also has an adult son living with him, and needs storage space for his gardening tools and other belongings.
Another tenant, who did not want to be named, said the eviction notice coming right before Christmas was stressful for their family of seven, which includes two children with special needs.
He said they were feeling anxious, and had been told there would be no extensions on compassionate grounds.
ÔÇ£For my family, we are faced with a potential rental increase of between 50% and 90% based on the limited properties available.ÔÇØ
The tenant also said they had been told they must have the carpets professionally cleaned before moving out.
ÔÇ£I understand reasonably clean and tidy, but it seems unfair and yet another cost burden on tenants, especially if the properties are to be demolished.ÔÇØ
