Winston gave NZ three female PM's...
Posted by: Lilith7 - 07-12-2023, 06:16 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (2)

Who knew! Rolleyes Rolleyes

Winston being Winston again .

There is only one of him, for which we're all extremely thankful. Rolleyes Big Grin Big Grin

ome/politics/2023/12/winston-peters-appears-to-claim-credit-for-making-three-women-pm-in-speech-audience-member-calls-it-gross.html

"Winston Peters has credited himself with the political pinnacles of Aotearoa's only three female PMs, telling an audience at Parliament: "In my career, I made three women Prime Minister."

He then later denied to Newshub he was taking credit for putting them in the top job.
The speech was meant to be about the election as an opportunity to talk about race relations, taking aim once more at what he calls the Māori elite.
"It's the worst type of racist I know: You need my help to be equal," the deputy Prime Minister said.
Peters compared equity to sexism.
"Some of us find that as revolting as chauvinist men behaving the same way, get it ladies?"
Without a shred of irony, Peters appeared to claim it was he who maketh the women.
"By the way, in my career, I made three women Prime Minister - you forgotten that? One of them let me down really bad and the other wasn't so good either."
But Peters wouldn't stand by it moments later.
"I said I was there when three females continued to be Prime Minister because I didn't rule them out, I didn't take credit for it," Peters said. "And - that's again - your narrative."
When it was put to him audience members believed that was what he had said, Peters replied: "Well, look, if you're going to use them as the authority then go and interview them."
Newshub did.
"He was trying to convey he wasn't being sexist whilst being sexist," one said."

Woman sentenced to work at fast food job

Novel idea which could work well. She assaulted a worker at a chipotle

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-67619012

"An Ohio woman who was convicted of assault for hurling a burrito bowl at a Chipotle worker was offered an unusual way to reduce her time in jail.
A judge has ordered Rosemary Hayne, 39, must now work at a fast-food job for two months.
Hayne was captured in a viral video screaming at a Chipotle employee before throwing her food in the worker's face.
At first, she was slated to pay a fine and serve 180 days in jail, with 90 days suspended.
But then, the judge had another idea.
"You didn't get your burrito bowl the way you like it, and this is how you respond?" Judge Timothy Gilligan told Hayne at her sentencing in Parma, Ohio.

"This is not 'Real Housewives of Parma.' This behaviour is not acceptable," he said, according to local Fox affiliate WJW.
Mr Gilligan told Hayne she could cut off 60 days in jail if she agreed to work at least 20 hours per week at a fast-food restaurant for two months."

  Cute PDF Writer now ointruding
Posted by: Neil F - 07-12-2023, 02:29 PM - Forum: PressF1 - Replies (2)

I have been using this programme for more than 10 years,
In recent weeks it has started to "self start" intruding over the top of the app I am in.
. There is a message which has a tab stating FAQs etc. and a box to tick saying "do not show this message again'. I tick that box, save and press top right X to close.
The intrusive behaviour continues. I select the Cute pdf app but it does not show any option to overcome this recent self start".
Any ideas? It really irritates me

thanks

maori protest first day of parliament
Posted by: C_T_Russell - 05-12-2023, 07:02 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (14)

Nothing in the treaty demands two classes of people, nor does it require a maori health authority.
The maori today were protesting against democracy.
NZ has been far too divided and it's time to treat everyone here in this country as one people regardless of race or ancestry.
Equal rights and treatment for everyone, no place for race based Healthcare.
Luxon is undoing all the divisive policies labour put in place.
Nz first and act both have maori MPs along with national anyway, but get slammed as racist.
Good news is winston and Seymour won't back down and I'm sure luxon will demonstrate that he can unite everyone with a health system treats everybody the same.

  Data on for texts
Posted by: allblack - 04-12-2023, 05:37 PM - Forum: PC World Chat - Replies (6)

Can anyone explain to me why I only get certain txts when I trurn my data on?

I'm a numpty but even I know that SMS doesn't use data, so this has me buggered. They're not MMS either.

I can't see any connection between those that need data and those that don't.

I've had 021, 022 and 027 come thru as per SOP, and the same only coming thru with data turned on, though different numbers.

This is a step in the right direction, didn't even know about this getting built but have heard about plans for other ones around the country.
I'm assuming it will have a giant tesla battery installed but might be something they add later.

He faces one charge of dishonestly accessing Te Whatu Ora databases. The charge carries a maximum penalty of seven years jail.
He has not pleaded to the charge.

Under the Bail Act, media are prevented from publishing the details of the bail hearing ÔÇô other than the outcome and any conditions imposed.
Te Whatu Ora have confirmed Young remains an employee while an employment investigation is under way but has had no access to any systems or data since the employer found out about the breach on Thursday, Nov 30.
