  Political bent
Posted by: yousnoozeyoulose - 27-10-2021, 09:57 AM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - No Replies

Was thinking about my political leaning last night, and would say "anti-National" would be the best descriptor. I've dallied with all the other main parties at some point (except the nutty ones), but never the Nats.

As a youngster, I don't recall politics being discussed in the house. There were just two colours - red and blue. To me, neither of the colours had any connotations associated to them. People might as well have been voting on their favourite hue, and I'm sure some still do.

As a uni student, I was generally apathetic to the whole thing. "He's got a silly name, I'll vote for him." Still didn't have a clue who Mum or Dad voted for, nor did I care.

But then I woke up a little. It quickly became apparent that all politicians have an ulterior motive, but that National's spineless turdingtons were the worst of all. Politics would start to enter discussion around the dining table, and it turned out Mum & Dad were lefties after all. Lefty farmers. Who would have thunk it?

What of you others? Did you grow up in a staunchly one-true-colour household, or was it a bit more organic?

The National Party at its finest, desperately trying to find something it can cling on to with its grubby little fingers. Note to Judith: you can't be critical of something and then say you'd do the same exact thing in the same interview.

'National Party leader Judith Collins has come out firmly against creating a "two-class system" by bringing in vaccine certificates, but she also wants to bring in vaccine certificates.'

Liz Gunn: absolute loony or new political party leader?
Posted by: Pips111 - 26-10-2021, 12:55 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (12)

Have you watched her rant on YouTube?

How does one transform from TV news presenter to a radically crazed anti-vax, Sharman-worshipping, wanna-be political party leader???

Your thoughts everyone?

Well, here we are, a home away from home from the TMMB.

Morning ladies  Smile  If you are here, then you have made the switch.  Hopefully we can continue our morning chat.

  Backups of the TM forums
Posted by: yousnoozeyoulose - 25-10-2021, 09:15 PM - Forum: Computing and Technology - Replies (11)

Couldn't help noticing on TM that someone wanted a backup of the Computing forum...

"wholetruth" was sadly shot into space in a bizarre trampolining incident (tbh, it was a double bounce disaster), but his next of kin was given access to all the code (what, and nothing else?), so a backup has been made of Computing. No doubt it will be uploaded somewhere at some point - will keep you posted.

Can backup some others - happy to take requests as long as it's not that Health & Beauty trainwreck. Would happily backup the sensible posts, but the words of dim-witted cretins are really not worth the 1s and 0s in any time or space.

  Everything is repeated.

When I'm scrolling down I keep seeing the same messages repeated and repeated and it puts me off using this forum.  Is it something I'm doing wrong?

  South Island Case
Posted by: king1 - 24-10-2021, 09:56 AM - Forum: Covid-19 - Replies (4)

Why is it the South Island folks need a kick up the backside or wake-up call - surely it is those that travel here from the North Island that need one...

I mean seriously, he developed a sore throat in the time it took to travel from Rotorua to Blenheim?  I think the only thing that developed was his conscience...

or am I being too harsh?

Information Name change for TMMB, give us your suggestions!
Posted by: nzoomed - 24-10-2021, 09:18 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (50)

Greetings to all new members, we are looking at alternative names and a bit of an upgrade.

Currently we have "too many message boards" as the name, but are welcome to community suggestions.

Please share below what acronym you would like and we will go to a community poll!

One suggestion I will start off is with "Talk more message boards"

Try and get creative, and we will go with whatever choice goes with the most votes. We will then ask members to submit a logo to vote on Smile

Something a little different, a bit esoteric in places, and quite a lot of revealing the answers in my case...

Is anyone else having trouble getting into TM...well, to the messageboards.

I'm having heart failure, and thinking 'you b*st*rds', that they have shut them down early.
