What are you reading in 2021?
Posted by: Outsider - 20-10-2021, 05:14 PM - Forum: Books - Replies (55)

I'm working through some of the hundreds of books I have and have just finished Brave New World, currently reading Catcher in the Rye. I started reading J D Salinger's other book Franny and Zooey but wasn't as good, so put in the op shop bag for when we're out of level 3.
Cry, the beloved country by Alan Paton is next on the list!

Favourite books recently are 3 by Andy Weir:- The Martian, Artemis, and Project Hail Mary.

Been a long time Chrome user, but i'm starting to get a bit fed up with some of the behind the scenes changes they make, and i am finding it painfully slow on some websites.

So, what's everyone using predominantly

Trade Me have today announced that they will be discontinuing their Message Boards as of 15th November. I expect we'll be seeing a bit more interest directed towards this forum as a result. Be nice to the newbees folks Angel

Dont complain and stop buying crap from china
Posted by: nzoomed - 08-10-2021, 10:32 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (17)

Im shocked how many building materials are imported from China.
I thought most of the stuff we needed was produced here.
Perhaps its steel they are talking about on the news, but we know how bad the quality is of some of that steel coming in to NZ.

Now we are so reliant that when they have production issues, we cant get the stuff when we need it, time to look elsewhere.

pro-vax is as bad as anti-vax
Posted by: nzoomed - 05-10-2021, 11:35 AM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (28)

The mentality im hearing from some pro-vax is just as bad as the anti-vax crowd.

When I hear on TV from a vaccinated family saying that their unvaccinated friends and family cant come round for xmas dinner, im thinking to myself, whats the issue?
Unvaccinated are only a risk to themselves.

Will your vaccine only work if the people around you have it too? Huh

Sad Police Ten-7
Posted by: nzoomed - 29-09-2021, 04:46 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (3)

If the Police cant find any "white" criminals, doesnt that tell you something?
Whats being more dishonest? Just screening everyday work of what the majority of the police encounters, or else only select an even proportion of various races to make the show more politically correct?
TBH, i always felt the show was rather balanced and it often features maori and pasifika officers on the show.
