Coronavirus: DHBS, funeral homes buy refrigerated containers for COVID-19 bodies

I would NOT like to be unvaccinated if this is an indication of where the powers think it's really heading...

A smartphone mainly for QR codes...

What would your recommendations be for a smartphone, that I can use to text, and for scanning the QR code ??

I don't want or need one for computer use, as I'm happy with my laptop.

Something basic for this old girl. Big Grin

Thanks.

  Vermin control
Posted by: crafters_corner - 07-11-2021, 09:02 PM - Forum: Gardening & DIY - Replies (4)

I am too scared to go down to my garage, as I think there might be vermin down there.  A neighbours cat has left a couple of dead ones on my front lawn, a couple of times, and I do suspect that it got them from my garage, although I actually can't be certain.

Can you get some sort of pest control in, to kill them?? I hate them. They terrify me...and yes, I know that they are more scared of me...but I need to get into my garage to start clearing it out, to start getting ready to move on in the next year or so.

I 'spose I could get someone to put some traps down there, but what if they (the mice) get caught, and I go down there and have to see that. I can't bare the thought.

Anyone who has gotten a pest control person in to do this, and is it expensive?

Thanks.

  Memorable Christmas Lunches
Posted by: Praktica - 07-11-2021, 05:31 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

I have 2 -
1974 - we had Christmas lunch, and dinner, on the back lawn we shared with Peter and Karen, in Christchurch.

1983 -  Christmas lunch at South Kaipara Head, with friends. We drove our cars around the lagoon beach, and up into the trees, where we stayed until the tide went back out.

  Stratford wastewater detection
Posted by: harm_less - 07-11-2021, 04:17 PM - Forum: Covid-19 - Replies (20)

I'm located about 30km north of Stratford so like many others in Taranaki I'm watching the daily COVID case reports intently to see if the wastewater detection of COVID there last Monday is followed by any local cases. Like many other people we have been travelling throughout Taranaki over the last week (including Stratford on Thursday) as we visited the many private and public gardens and art displays which are presently open for the Taranaki Garden Festival and Arts Trail.

The events finish at days end today so the many out of province visitors will be heading back to their home towns. It will be interesting to see if the COVID case detected in Stratford pops up elsewhere or if the virus hitches a ride home with someone else. I'm sure COVID will become endemic here in NZ in the near future but just hope that a sufficient percentage of us are vaccinated by then to limit the pressure this will place on our health system when that does happen.

  The fort under the table

When we were kids we use to build these on wet days, with blankets and sheets and cushions and our favourite comfort beasts. A book or two, life giving sustenance, and a good companion or two.

Sometimes I wonder if we adults should build one of these for ourselves. Or maybe, just maybe, our message boards are our version. In which case we should bring brooms. To poke out of the drapery and repel unfriendly boarders.

  Blacklists

Realised that with Trade Me's board closing down, I won't know who to blacklist!

Always enjoyed people moaning about some woeful trader they've had to deal with, or better yet, the ones that outed themselves not realising that they themselves were the woeful trader.

Going through the current blacklist, there's a few with perfectly good feedback that make you wonder why they got on the blacklist in the first place, but there's some shockers. Most have smartly stopped using their account, but as we're not on TM, here's a freebie: "russia94"
