  Facebook Messenger
Posted by: Magenta69 - 22-02-2022, 09:59 AM - Forum: Computing and Technology - Replies (7)

I deactivated my Facebook messenger quite a while ago, but use messenger when I want to send photos etc. Yesterday I reactivated Facebook briefly to check something and deactivated it again. Since then communicating with 2 people a problem has arisen. I can message one friend but they get the message 'this person is unavailable on messenger' so unable to reply. Another friend it is in reverse, they can message me, but I get the message above and cannot reply. No one has blocked anyone. Has anyone else experienced this or know of a remedy. I am almost considering deleting Facebook and Messenger altogether, but have family and friends that use it, so not quite ready for that yet.

  Reddit
Posted by: TygerTung - 21-02-2022, 12:03 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (2)

I have moved on to the Christchurch Reddit page /r/chch. There are other local pages such as Auckland and a general one for all of NZ.

That's why I have not been on here for a long time. But I'm much too busy at the moment to be spending much time on message boards anyway.

Power steer pump not holding fliud due to leaking seal, taken the Power Steer drive belt off. Will driving it with the power steer drive belt off cause any damage to the power steering system or other steering components? Any danger of steering locking up etc ? (91 Navara) Cheers

Did anyone else catch it?
What were your impressions of the Police Commissioner and the answers he provided?

  Another article about the protestors.

It discusses freedom.

Andrea Vance also has an interesting take on the protest.

The vaccine doesnt work for omicron...
Posted by: C_T_Russell - 19-02-2022, 02:13 PM - Forum: Covid-19 - Replies (7)

Dont take my word for it, Israel has already confirmed it!
Source https://www.ft.com/content/58cfd452-a85e...4a3c89ffc8

What is wrong with their statement though, is that its got nothing to do with the "number" of antibodies!
The vaccine is producing antibodies for the alpha variant! How are alpha antibodies going to recognize a newer variant such as omicron?
You can have all the antibodies in your bloodstream as you like, wont make a scrap of difference!
If 4 shots are not effective, then 3 certainly are not...

Time to drop the mandates and get on with life, 95% of the country is jabbed anyway, on top of it omicron is not much worse than the common cold. Just look at all the hospital cases in the ICU vs delta.
Unvaxxed are spreading it equally as much as fully vaxxed, time to move on and get on with life.
By the time the omicron vaccine is available, it would have long mutated into other strains anyway.

  Housing affordability critical under Labour
Posted by: Wainuiguy - 19-02-2022, 08:42 AM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (5)

https://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/homed...-on-record

Housing will be one of the key issues next election - their record on housing, something they campaigned on to correct,  has been the worst of any government in NZ history.

Homelessness has spiked massively - and already was spiking BEFORE the pandemic.

Housing waiting lists are now 400% more than in 2017 and again has doubled prior to the pandemic.

The Police Commissioner should be sacked!
Posted by: ObeWan - 18-02-2022, 08:51 PM - Forum: Covid-19 - Replies (11)

https://www.stuff.co.nz/opinion/30052144...mp-freedom

Says it all. Inept.

It has been a catastrophic miscalculation by the police and has left two plausible scenarios. One involves a potentially violent confrontation, which some protesters, already desperate to frame themselves as victims of the state, will encourage; and two, a prolonged occupation that ends when the pandemic does, and all restrictions are lifted.

For the people of Wellington, neither outcome is desirable nor acceptable.
