Sad 2008 Mazda 6 GH headlights
Posted by: lilbubble - 23-09-2022, 06:16 PM - Forum: Motoring - Replies (1)

The lenses on my mazda 6 are shot and need replacing. I have Hid type lights and to replace them
is a crazy amount of money even buying 2nd hand. Some cars like mine also came out with halogen
head lights and the hole light / lenses are way cheaper. I no it would be a down grade .. I dont really care
it saves 100s .. So how would I go about swapping the electrics  from running hid head lights to halogen. Is it
possible

2008 mazda atenza awd estate 2.5 Ltr auto ..

Not so much due to the 'diner' but to the use of the term 'wait staff'.
Apparently, it is now far too difficult to use words of more than one or at most, two syllables, even if that means mutilating an existing word to do it - I give you 'hospo', a new term meaning (probably)  hospitality.
No clue as to what  an ex 'burrito artist' might be, but then they're Australian... Rolleyes

So, I read all the candidates statements, with my pen in hand. Badly worded, poor spelling, you're out. Faintly VFF, you're gone. Is that racism? Goneburger. You've been in for years and done nowt, out with you. A few more like that and I had them whittled down to the possibles and maybes. Then I started a bit of googling, and lost a couple more.

About an hour of work I reckon, but done and dusted. My civic duty complete for another cycle. Of course, that is bad luck for my chosen ticks. The ones I vote for rarely get in...  Big Grin

  Network Question
Posted by: CorylusMaxima - 22-09-2022, 04:47 PM - Forum: Computing and Technology - Replies (4)

At present I only have ADSL2 delivered via an old THOMSON TG585v7 and most ISPs say ADSL2 is all that's available here. However 2 degrees say I can get RBI 4G delivered via a Huawei B535 and I am trying to weigh up the pros and cons.
My home network is used by 2 wireless printers, 3 android phones and 5 PCs (incl 2 currently ethernet only desktops). The PCs are all Win10 with local accounts of 2 or 3 users each and I use the full range of network drive mappings and permissions to share any necessary files. Also as one layer of my backup strategy I send windows file history from all 5 PCs to a single external drive connected to the desktop which is running most of the time.
The thought of having to set up everything from scratch on a new network is a bit daunting so my question is can I cheat by giving a new network on a Huawei B535 the same SSID and password as my current network and have everything just continue to work as at present?

PETA demands men who eat meat be banned from sex to help reduce global meat consumption
Men who eat meat should be banned from having sex, the animal rights organisation People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has declared.

I have proof that this doesn't work, I eat meat and haven't had sex in years  Crying Crying Crying

  Airline refunds for credits
Posted by: king1 - 22-09-2022, 02:05 PM - Forum: Travel - Replies (7)

So we have had a Jetstar credit since before Covid.

First booking prior to Covid, they changed the flights to inconvenient early AM flights - then Covid hit

Recently, we booked (using the credit) afternoon flights CHCH to WGTN, again they changed the flights to inconvenient, early AM flights. They offer us a refund because they can't fly us within 3 hours of our scheduled flight times -  refund being code for another credit...

When I look at the flights on the day now though, there is only an early AM flight, plus two afternoon flights via Auckland.  At the time of booking i'm sure they had a dozen flights each way on the day.

Is the strategy for airlines now just to offer a full range of flights and then simply consolidate them down to the early morning ones... Maybe an afternoon flight if we have enough bookings on the day...

Should they be allowed to offer flights that there is a reasonable chance will not fly.

and why on earth can't one get a proper refund? this amount of dicking around in any other industry would entitle one to a refund under the CGA.  On the Chat service the response I got was

Quote:"Despite declining your request, we are confident that we are in compliance with our legal obligation"

Consumer NZ have some info here about this

I suspect because the govt are heavily invested in Air New Zealand, it probably influences there decision to tackle the problem - Basically if they do, they will need to prop up Air NZ with more $$...

Is it this painful with Air New Zealand as well? Never really had any problems with them in the past...

If Lake Taupo blows, its the end of NZ as we know it...
Posted by: C_T_Russell - 21-09-2022, 01:01 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (16)

Might not be anything that happens in any of our lifetimes, but its sure to happen some day.
It is some cause for concern about geonet raising its alert level, something thats never happened before.
Although Taupo has experienced higher activity in the past, its the first time they have raised its alert level.

I wonder how many people even know its a volcano, or at least a dormant volcano and not an extinct volcano?
Its even generating media attention overseas.
https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacif...022-09-20/

If it were to blow, we could look back at its last eruption which was considered fairly minor and that was enough to cover much of the north island in a metre or more of ash, I would like to think we would have plenty of warning should that happen, but its quite scary to imagine what would happen should this ever occur.
It would be a much more serious disaster if it happened in the future with a much more populated NZ than today with a population of 5 million or so.
Much of the north island would be uninhabitable for some time, but the south island would probably fare better, evacuations would be immense. I could see many heading over to Australia.

Knitting yarn. Filatura di Crosa Nirvana
Posted by: Everlastinglove - 19-09-2022, 05:39 PM - Forum: Sewing, embroidery and knitting - Replies (3)

IÔÇÖm wondering if anybody has any leftover Filatura di Crosa Nirvana 2ply merino, colour burgundy #17.
Half a ball even would be enough. It has now been taken off the market and only some colours available until all sold.
Thanks.
Janice.
