Uffindell welcomed back by National
Posted by: Lilith7 - 19-09-2022, 03:26 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (48)

He's apparently cleared of the misbehaviour while at Uni. Interesting that they're not going to release the report.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politic...y-bullying

"Tauranga MP Sam Uffindell has been welcomed back to the National Party, after it was revealed he attacked a younger student at high school and then faced claims of bullying as a university student.

An investigation into those claims did not substantiate reports he was a bully after leaving high school, National Party president Sylvia Wood says.
National leader Christopher Luxon said Uffindell had been reinstated into the caucus.
Wood said the party would not release details of the report. She said lawyer Maria Dew interviewed 14 people in her investigation, and read ÔÇ£a number of written statementsÔÇØ. They would not say if the majority of the interviews related to either his time at KingÔÇÖs College, or at Otago University.
Wood said the investigation "did not substantiate any allegations of bullying outside of Sam's time at King's College".

Uffindell said the investigation effectively ÔÇ£clearedÔÇØ his name, and he was now focused on rebuilding after his controversial start as an MP."

  William and Harry
Posted by: Oldfellah - 19-09-2022, 10:10 AM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (4)

William, Harry leave Westminster in separate cars after vigil as no 'meaningful rapprochement' in their relationship

In my opinion Harry is very vulnerable and always has been since his mother died, and then along came the wicked witch of the west (Meghan) she knew how to manipulate him to do her bidding and how to lose his family and to make sure he wouldn't leave she gave birth twice, she is an actress and a manipulator and has bent him to her will. If you look at most of their photos even ones leading up to the funeral you will see they are holding hands or she is so close to him that fresh air couldn't survive and as one commentator said "Its not really protocol to do that on such a solemn occasion"

I think he would be better off leaving the bitch and coming back into the fold and reuniting with his own kind.
She is American and doesn't want the British pomp and ceremony (unless it suits her)
I could go on and on but as stated this is just my opinion, what is yours?

  Russian retreat
Posted by: Lilith7 - 18-09-2022, 03:03 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (14)

It seems that the private Russian views are very different to their public one. They must be desperate if they're posting recruitment posters on public transport & psychiatric hospitals.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-62914958

Russia's retreat from Kharkiv, north-eastern Ukraine, has exposed key weaknesses in the supplies and staffing of the nation's armed forces, Russian veterans and military bloggers say.
"You have no idea how tired I am to say hello to someone in the morning and then have to identify his remains later the same day," one Russian officer serving as a marine in Ukraine reportedly confided over the phone to a former colleague back home, who published it on his Telegram channel.
"Just yesterday two of my sniper groups were destroyed by a tank. Three men died instantly, the fourth one fought for his life for an hour and a half, another one in critical condition was taken to hospital. We have hardly any men left and we are holding a front line dozens of kilometres long."

While Russian officials and state media are trying to play down the Russian forces' retreat from Kharkiv, individual war reporters, veterans and influential military bloggers are acknowledging numerous challenges within closed messaging channels.

Blogs and Telegram channels are littered with stories of inadequate equipment and personnel, compounded by a rigid operational hierarchy."

Thumbs Up Best office chair for working from home?
Posted by: funnykiwi86 - 16-09-2022, 02:18 PM - Forum: Computing and Technology - Replies (8)

Hi Guys,

What is your view on work from home setups? I'm spending less and less time at the office these days, opting for work from home.

Problem is, I don't have the same kind of setup I had in the office. (Comfortable)

There a couple of options with these guys (Desks and Chairs etc) Agile Office Furniture I've come across but it they can be pricey, so I want to be sure about what I'm buying before I go ahead with something.
Your insight is appreciated!  Huh

Bodies found in mass grave, Ukraine$00 bodies have been found near
Posted by: Lilith7 - 16-09-2022, 01:54 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (10)

400 bodies have been found near Izium, Ukraine which was recently retaken from Russian troops.

https://www.1news.co.nz/2022/09/16/400-b...aine-city/

Sergei Bolvinov, a senior investigator for Ukrainian police in the eastern Kharkiv region, told British TV broadcaster Sky News that a pit containing more than 440 bodies was discovered near Izium after KyivÔÇÖs forces swept in. He described the grave as "one of the largest burial sites in any one liberated city."

Some of the people buried in the pit were shot. Others died from artillery fire, mines or airstrikes. Many of the bodies have not been identified yet, Bolvinov said."

  Parcel delivery - aramex
Posted by: king1 - 13-09-2022, 08:00 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (15)

Ordered something online the other week, for the wifey - signature was required

was due to be delivered Monday last week

Wednesday, I find a card in the letter box dated Tuesday.  No big deal I think to myself (still wondering how i missed it - both the wife and I work from home). Request a redelivery all will be sweet.   While i'm sending the message online for a redelivery I notice the original delivery was made at 6.17AM.  WTF I think to myself, who the hell is up at that time to sign for a parcel...

So being inquisitive I pull up the security camera footage for Tuesday 6.17AM (it was snowing, that was nice...) - driver pulls up to the end of the driveway, gets out of the van and goes straight to the letterbox (presumably to insert the card to say we tried to deliver your parcel), back in the van then drives off...  Does that even count as a delivery attempt?

Thursday I have a parcel to send to Auckland and I think oh well might as well give him a reason to come back, so book it through Aramex via TM.

Sadly, today, it is still sitting on the hallway table, and I still don't have my delivery...  I guess that will be the first and last time I use Aramex

But I was also reading this article last week, so I will try not to judge them too harshly...

  Council elections; interesting candidates
Posted by: Lilith7 - 13-09-2022, 03:37 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (32)

To say the least. These take place next month & among candidates are five people linked to the VFF lot. And the wizard.
Its very tempting to vote for one of the more colourful characters... Big Grin Big Grin

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/christchur...VANCRQ3GE/

"A colourful cast of characters including a wizard, an anti-mandates pastor, a serving city councillor and businessman, an anti-stadium campaigner, a former health boss, and a champion of something called "economics euthenics" are all jostling to become the new Christchurch mayor.

Eleven candidates have been confirmed to contest the Garden City mayoralty race in this year's local body elections on October 8.

The winner will replace three-term Lianne Dalziel who has led the city since 2013.

Nominations closed on Friday and attracted several serial contenders including Tubby Hansen on the Economics Euthenics ticket, who has stood in every triennial election since 1971, and independent Peter Wakeman who has previously stood in 1998, 2007, 2010 and 2013, as well as controversial anti-mandates churchman Carl Bromley and 89-year-old Wizard of NZ, aka Ian Brackenbury Channell."

"Know your rights" another message from those studious types at VFF
Posted by: Lilith7 - 13-09-2022, 11:03 AM - Forum: Covid-19 - Replies (7)

Found in my letterbox this morning, another  brightly coloured, exclamation mark strewn little pamphlet from those studious academics in the 'Voices for Freedom' group.

Fascinating stuff - 'say goodbye to masks forever' was featured prominently, as was a 'free mini kit' which enables people to be 'mask free' & then there's a panel listing  things under the title 'did you know?' listing various gems of information, some of which may even be true.

Given that last night's announcement about masks has taken the wind out of their sails, I'm afraid that I laughed.

And a swift visit to their listed site says in rather large letters: 'Backed by science & research!' Its always good to have a really good laugh of a morning...

A holiday to mark the Queen's death?
Posted by: Lilith7 - 12-09-2022, 03:36 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (23)

Damn - title should read mark rather than make!

While this is being considered & Australia has decided to give their people the day off on the day pf the national memorial service, this is not a good idea in NZ according to ACT, because it 'will be too expensive for small businesses to cope with.'

One day, just the one day rather than an annual holiday & you'd think people were storming the bastille again!  Rolleyes Rolleyes

The Nats are in favour however, which is interesting given Luxon's desire to end Labour day.
