We are in New Zealand NOT Australia

A mother-of-six has revealed how she only grocery shops for her family once every six weeks ÔÇô spending just $1400 on feeding the entire family during that time.

Nyssa Lehane, husband Darryl and their six children moved to remote Queensland from Brisbane four years ago after a life of running franchises up to 70 hours a week

every six weeks, with a budget of $1400, Lehane makes the four-hour trip to Brisbane.

"I go to Aldi, Coles and Woolworths and check out all the half-price specials. If need be, I will also go to Bunnings and Kmart," she said.

"After staying the night at my mum's, I will go to the fruit and veg store, the butcher and Costco.

"Costco is usually where the majority of our shop is done."

These are cut and paste snippets from the Herald.

Im sure if we had an Aldi and Coles etc. to go to we could slash our grocery bills to
so I dont really see the point of this story.

14 year high in drownings. It's the beaches fault, they will have to make the beaches safer. It's the Lifeguards fault, we need more...will conscription help ? There has to be some reason for all these deaths by drowning....what is it ?...?

  Have you noticed?

It has just taken over. Nothing has an effect any more. These days everything has an impact. I wonder why that is. The Yankee influence yet again?

We have our own unique identity. Why does everyone have to copy the Yanks? I'm a Kiwi and proud of it. Next thing you know, they will be copying the Yank accent as well. It doesn't bear  thinking about.Rolleyes

  Press F1 Backup

And now a late, slightly half-assed Christmas present...

Here's an almost complete backup of Press F1 and PC World Chat, saved as an .sql file. Making it hosted and searchable was problematic so have skipped that step, but all the threads and posts are here if you need it. You'll just need to load them into whatever DBMS you fancy.

ACT former marketing director John Ansell

Is apparently barking mad. Definitely strayed into fruitloop territory. At one time he was also involved with the National party which they'd probably prefer to forget, & who could blame them.
I'd like to think he can get the mental health help he so desperately needs.

Trademes Biggest Sales - inc Amiga
Posted by: piroska - 04-01-2023, 01:42 PM - Forum: PC World Chat - Replies (1)

Should have kept mine:

https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/money/1...es-of-2022

A vintage computer built in 1990 might have trouble streaming Netflix, but keen collectors were willing to pay thousands for one on Trade Me.
An Amiga 3000 personal computer was sold for $3370 in April. It came complete with two SCSI HDDs, a floppy drive, keyboard, mouse, and original documentation.
The Amiga was not the only vintage computer in hot demand, as a 1983 Apple Lisa 2 also sold for $2800 last month.

The most expensive item sold was an Addams Family Pinball Machine which fetched $25,250 in February.

Another notable sale was a collection of Pokemon Cards which went for over $20,000 in October.

Enquiries underway after two cops filmed
Posted by: Lilith7 - 02-01-2023, 11:21 AM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (12)

The suspect had been restrained. Nonetheless, one officer can be seen hitting him with handcuffs & then kicking him several times, while the other allowed the dog to continue biting him.

While I understand that theirs is a difficult job, they're there to uphold the law, not behave like thuggish American cops.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/3...n-auckland

"In a video filmed by an onlooker, two police officers can be seen wrestling with a man lying on the ground.

Throughout the video a police dog can be seen biting the man as he lies face down.
The videographer said the man being restrained could be heard screaming in pain during the arrest."

  Cycle Computer App
Posted by: driftwood - 02-01-2023, 11:15 AM - Forum: PC World Chat - Replies (5)

Can anyone recommend a free cycle computer app suitable for Samsung mobile.
It will have to be very simple & run offline on GPS only.
I need mainly speed & distance travelled.
Not interested in heart rate, blood pressure or alcohol content.

I have been looking at cycle computers online but can't find one suitable for my particular application.
