Yet another school shooting in America
Posted by: Roscoe - 28-03-2023, 06:30 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (15)

I find it hard to understand why a school shooting in America is news. It's not as if it's anything unusual. They do it on a regular basis.

Anywhere else in the world that would be news but why do they report a shooting in the land that invented school shootings? And they said on the news that the gunman had an arsenal of weapons and ammunition. But that's the case with all these maniacs that go on a killing spree.

So why do the news people think it worth reporting? It's just a normal happening in America. It does not make sense.

This is an interesting take on the progress being made on AI. As this technology advances the ability to recognise it from 'the real thing' will become increasingly difficult. My partner is a tutor at a distance learning college and has plagiarism detecting software in her toolbox but AI generated content puts a whole different perspective on this issue.

America today; principal resigns after students see Michelangelo's David
Posted by: Lilith7 - 26-03-2023, 02:21 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (11)

Oh dear -  so now the ignorance is spreading to the arts. A parent complained that the naked statue of David is 'pornography.' Rolleyes Dodgy

This is getting really pathetic now & given the inroads into women's rights which have been made there you really have to wonder if America isn't slipping back into far earlier times.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-65071989

"A principal of a Florida school has been forced to resign after a parent complained that sixth-grade students were exposed to pornography.
The complaint arose from a Renaissance art lesson where students were shown Michelangelo's statue of David.
The iconic statue is one of the most famous in Western history.
But one parent complained the material was pornographic and two others said they wanted to know about the class before it was taught.
The 5.17m (17ft) statue depicts an entirely naked David, the Biblical figure who kills the giant Goliath.
The lesson, given to 11 and 12-year-olds, also included references to Michelangelo's "Creation of Adam" painting and Botticelli's "Birth of Venus".

Principal Hope Carrasaquilla of Tallahassee Classical School said she resigned after she was given an ultimatum by the school board to resign or be fired."

Our methane emissions cant be significant enough to be of concern!
But, hey lets tax the shit out of our evil farmers for destroying the planet.
Also its just emerged that a recent IPCC report has discovered that they have actually overestimated the impact of agricultural emissions, in other words, its not as "bad" as previously thought!

I have just purchased a new laptop (Windows 11) and have installed Outlook on it but there are no emails showing in the Inbox or anywhere else and I was wondering what I need to do to access my emails.

Thank you for your help.

Got slammed for trying to ban TikTok over security concerns and media were trying to say it was all a conspiracy  in much the same way as he said covid escaped from the Wuhan lab.
Now we have the Biden administration not only attempting to ban TikTok but also largely accepting the lab leak theory as plausible.
Go figure.

  New Sky Pods
Posted by: Wainuitech - 25-03-2023, 01:03 PM - Forum: PC World Chat - Replies (8)

Just installed two of them at home along with one for a customer earlier in the week.

The setup was quite painless, and of course the 1st thing it did was do a 737MB update. Rolleyes  it auto detected the Ethernet connection. AND me being not wanting a conventional install Wink Used an adapter / Joiner to join to the existing HDMI Cable ( previously connected the Vodafone Device) so the Pod didn't plug into the actual HDMI port on the TV (worked a treat)

These are the Sky Replacement for Vodafone TV.

Just a few things you need if anyone is getting them.

Setting up -- A Gmail account seems to be the easiest way as it will connected to your Phone and gives you access to Google Play Store.

  • A Gmail account email address and password.
┬á ┬á ┬áÔÇó Your Phone with the same account so it can send you the Authorization code OR you need to log into Sky via your computer and activate the once only displayed code┬áfrom there.
  • TV 3 is there but you have to look for TV 1 & 2. One annoying thing so far, cant add some┬áprograms to Favourites, you can add certain parts but not all.
┬á ┬á ┬áÔÇó IF you want TV 1 and 2 you need your TV on demand / TVNZ+ Account Details (email and password) If you donÔÇÖt have one it┬ácan created one at the time, its free. ( Created for the Customer on his computer, lot easier- then entered the Details on the TV)┬á TV1 & 2 uses a similar interface as to the web based layout.
┬á ┬á ┬áÔÇó A BIG bottle of Bourbon to calm your nerves --┬á the whole interface is different to the current Sky program menu Layout, very heavy on Sky Content, and the so many different options with what sometimes appears to be going around in circles ??

The Voice remote to control it needs work still. When telling Google Assist to play a TV certain program on say TV1 or 2 its defaults to Youtube, NOT what its told to do. but at least it did ask as to which TV to play on. This feature DOES need a Google account.

What will be interesting is if Google Home devices try to do things on their own. Sometimes ours spouts out -- Sorry dont understand That please repeat. ??? Its listening to the TV and thinks its us telling it to do something LOL  Dodgy

Interesting and no doubt frustrating times ahead.
