Where can I obtain copper broadband in Auckland?
Posted by: Roscoe - 31-03-2023, 10:46 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

I am moving to an address in Herd Rd, Hillsborough, Auckland, and they do not have fibre. When I go looking for a copper connection all the plans are for fibre. I have tried Google but it seems that I may not be asking the right question as all I obtain is fibre connections.

I was hoping that someone knows what firm to go to for copper and hopefully they will be able to give me a price as well.

Thank you for your help.

Living with cramp any cures out there?
Posted by: mickg - 31-03-2023, 09:38 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (17)

Any one suffer with cramp, I've had cramp for years and the worst time is waking up with it and struggle to walk to the toilet!
Was on quinine tablets for years which worked really well and kept it under control, a couple of years ago they stopped supplying it here in NZ.  And have tried a few prescribed methods from my doctor which never worked.
I have been using crampezy tablets which I don't really know whether they work or not as if I leave them off its the same outcome!
Has anyone found a way to combat the pain or do I have to live with it?

Do double Sundays merit a double sundae?
Posted by: R2x1 - 31-03-2023, 07:50 AM - Forum: PC World Chat - Replies (6)

While looking for a ray of sunshine on my phone's weather app last night I was a bit amazed to find that not content with messing up the clock with daylight savings, "THEY" are now fiddling with the calendar! Is nothing to be spared?

Do Padre's get double pay and a day in lieu?  How do they compensate 7th Day Adventists?  Are people without invisible friends allowed to opt for two Fridays?  Next thing you know the Met Office will get a forecast right.
(Hopefully it is not all related to Saturday's date.)

  Google Chrome 64 Bit Query
Posted by: Neil F - 30-03-2023, 09:07 PM - Forum: PressF1 - Replies (3)

My laptop is Win 11 64 Bit -fully updated. Today, using, FilePuma I selected update to Google Chrome 111 .0.5585.147  (64 bit)  I had problems with completing the update so followed Google Help , and using Revo Uninstaller V 2.4.4 (latest)  I uninstalled Chrome -including the leftovers . then reinstalled the 64 bit version. In File properties it shows as 64 Bit but in Revo Uninstaller it shows as Type 32 Bit

Why does the Type 32 Bit show instead of 64 Bit?
Guidance please
thanks
Neil

  Rabies

First case in NZ.

Horrible way to die, was pretty frightening to see people getting attacked from wild monkeys on a beach in Thailand.
There was a video from a travel vlogger who got bitten by one at the beach and was rushed to the hospital to receive a rabies shot.

  CAD programs
Posted by: brucem - 30-03-2023, 01:17 PM - Forum: PressF1 - Replies (2)

I have had several cad programs in the past starting with Imagineer Technical, a good but expensive approx $1000 in the late 80's when I was still working, it later became Smart sketch, and I couldn't upgrade.  Since then I have had some cheapies, at least one dissapeared without trace, leaving lots of drawings on file and unable to be opened.  I am looking for something cheap (preferably free).  I have found some free ones on the net, and one - Librecad looks as if it would be OK.  Does anyone know it or can recommend an alternative?

Where can I get free legal aid?
Posted by: Roscoe - 30-03-2023, 06:59 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

I have been seriously defamed and I would like to take action against the person who has defamed me. Unfortunately I cannot afford a lawyer as I am on the pension and a lawyer costs over $600 an hour! That is two thirds of my fortnightly pay!

I had a look online and I found that I can get legal aid but it is as the title says, "aid" and it needs to be repaid and I just can't afford that.

My question is where can I access legal help that I do not have to repay? Is free legal help available?

Thanks for your help.

Thumbs Down Corrupt Newshub Framing Posie Parker as Nazi
Posted by: C_T_Russell - 29-03-2023, 06:18 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (19)

You wont get the truth if you keep watching our useless media.

Check this out here, skip to 2mins into the video.
Newshub blur her hand out in her video and say she was making a nazi gesture, but all she was doing was adjusting her zipper!
This is getting bloody ridiculous now.
Oh and by the way, the person who threw the tomato sauce on her is now facing charges.

  Sack Marama Davidson!
Posted by: C_T_Russell - 28-03-2023, 08:40 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (62)

For her stupid remarks about "White Cis Men" being the cause of violence.
This weekend, Minister for the Prevention of Family and Sexual Violence Marama Davidson proudly declared on camera:┬áÔÇ£I am the prevention [of] violence Minister, and I know who causes violence in the world, and itÔÇÖs white cis men.ÔÇØ
As alarming as it is to once again be confronted by how easily and happily our Government differentiates us based on skin colour, it is also an example of how this kind of racialised politics doesn't help anyone.
It certainly doesn't help all of the victims of family violence that was not caused by a white man. Does the minister not consider them in her work? New Zealand has some of the worst statistics for family violence in the OECD!
Her abhorrent statement is actually receiving endorsement from groups and individuals who clearly have a warped and inaccurate picture of the world and no understanding of how family violence dominates our violent crime statistics.

This person is not material for her position in power.
