Confirmation that humans are in fact idiots

Library burning - the new way to cope with the future & anything you  or your ancient belief system doesn't approve of, simply destroy knowledge & allow your children & theirs to grow up as ignorant as possible.

Australia to allow Kiwis become citizens more easily
Posted by: Lilith7 - 22-04-2023, 12:29 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (7)

From July this year - it can't have been that damn difficult if they've managed it this quickly. And it has to be said :"About bloody time, Australia."

Smile

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politic...licy-shift

"Here's what you need to know

 • Rights come into effect on July 1, 2023.
 • Applies to Kiwis on temporary, special category, visas who have lived in Australia for four years, and meet the standard Australian citizenship criteria (e.g. pass a character check, adequate knowledge of Australia, a basic English competency, will continue to reside in or have a connection with Australia) and attend a citizenship ceremony.
 • Is retrospective. Those in Australia since 2001 will be able to apply directly for citizenship without gaining permanent residence first.
 • Is affordable (the fee is A$490).
 • Has no minimum income requirement or health requirement.
 • Gives Kiwis access to services and benefits, once they become citizens.

 • Allows Kiwi children born in Australia to become citizens at birth (rather than waiting till they turn 10, as they do now).
From July, New Zealand citizens who have lived in Australia for four years on the current temporary, special category visa provided to all New Zealanders will be able to directly apply for citizenship, without first having to become a permanent resident.
Applicants will have to pass a character check and basic English test, demonstrate ÔÇ£adequate knowledgeÔÇØ of Australia, and pay a fee of A$490, or NZ$534.
The change largely unwinds a decision in 2001 that┬árestricted New ZealandersÔÇÖ access to citizenship┬áand social service payments.

Oz Kiwi Association chairperson Joanne Cox, speaking before the announcement, said she expected to be ÔÇ£very happyÔÇØ with the changes. Her advocacy group had been working closely with senior Labor Party figures to change the immigration rules for years.
She said the 2001 changes to New ZealandersÔÇÖ status had caused ÔÇ£immense hardship, disenfranchisement, disadvantage, just terrible, terrible thingsÔÇØ.
ÔÇ£Everything's fine until it goes bad, and then it's too late.ÔÇØ

Can't receive Prime or Maori channels
Posted by: Roscoe - 22-04-2023, 08:04 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

I wonder if it is only at my place in Hillsborough? I can receive all the freeview channels except Prime and the two Maori channels. That was first noticed on Friday evening when I went to watch the Prime news and there is no signal.

I only watch the news on Prime and the occasional programme on Maori so it's not a problem but I just wondered is this happening to anyone else?

  What's the number, American NRA?
Posted by: Lilith7 - 21-04-2023, 07:11 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (3)

You know, that finally unacceptable, fully repulsive, stomach turning number of dead kids which will cause the scales to drop from your eyes & allow you all what the rest of us already has - a glowing, full technicolour image of dead & dying children in the wake of yet another macho-poisoned chap who sees his 'right' to carry the biggest, most masculine gun he can manage to afford to brandish as proof of what a real 'man' he really is. And to hell with the consequences.

Because quite a lot of us are getting sick, (literally in some cases) when every week or every day, there's another one of these twisted  people murdering the children of America.

So could you just tell us all what the number is please, & then we can just grit our teeth till we get to that magic number of murdered kids where the NRA will change its adolescent stance to one of maturity & help stop the madness in America.
And - if its not too much trouble, & you're not too terribly busy cleaning your gun collection NOW is an excellent time. Angry Angry Angry Dodgy

"Authorities are still looking for the suspect who shot a 6-year-old girl and several others after a basketball rolled into his yard.
Police in Gaston County, N.C., say 24-year-old Robert Louis Singletary shot three individuals shortly before 8 p.m. on Tuesday night in a neighborhood outside of Gastonia, a city about 20 miles west of Charlotte.
One man and one child were seriously injured, a woman was grazed by a bullet and another man was "shot at but not injured." One adult remained hospitalized as of Wednesday, police chief Stephen Zill said in a statement.
Singletary is wanted on four counts of attempted first-degree murder, one count of possession of a firearm by a felon and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflicting serious injury.
Authorities describe him as 6 feet, 2 inches tall with black hair and brown eyes, weighing about 225 pounds, according to member station WFAE.
Singletary was already awaiting trial on felony charges from a December 2022 incident in which he allegedly beat his girlfriend in the head with a mini-sledgehammer and forbade her from leaving his apartment until she had cleaned up the evidence, according to WSOC-TV."

  Dame Edna/Barry Humphries
Posted by: Lilith7 - 21-04-2023, 05:12 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (15)

They're saying stable now. Or not, who knows.
Love the purple hair.

https://www.9news.com.au/national/barry-...34edaa4a30

"Australian comedic legend Barry Humphries is in a stable condition in hospital, despite earlier reports he was "unresponsive".
A spokesperson for St´╗┐ Vincent's Hospital in Sydney confirmed to 9News the comedian is stable and said any claims he was unresponsive are "untrue".
The 89-year-old performer, best known for his character Dame Edna Everage, was hospitalised earlier this week due to complications from hip surgery.
"I spoke to the person who has been appointed by the family as their mouthpiece and their voice, and she has been given no update as far as she's concerned," he said.
"I hope to hell that those stories are wrong.

"But´╗┐ obviously, he is an 89-year-old man, he's not well.
Wilkins said Humphries' health "took a turn" this week.
"´╗┐I have spoken to a few people close to Barry in the last couple of hours," Wilkins said on Wednesday morning.
"One of his very close friends and colleagues said that he spoke to him a couple of days ago and that he was in good spirits and in good shape.
"However, it appears that in the last little while, Barry has taken a turn for the worst and is back in hospital."
