  Win11 24H2 Update
Posted by: Galaxy01 - 04-08-2025, 10:14 PM - Forum: PressF1 - Replies (6)

I updated my other PC to Win11 24H2, it failed my 1st attempt because I downloaded the different language version (English International) as such it cannot keep all my apps and data, only my data.  Cancelled the update, re-downloaded the English US  and it then went through smoothly.

I will try to update my other PC which I am a bit nervous because this PC couldn't restart automatically, I have to push the button to shut it down and then push the button again to turn it back ON.   Not too sure this will affect the updating process?  I have try very hard to correct that issue but no....

This PC was installed using English US but I later added English New Zealand to it.  Do you think that I should download the English NZ to install the update?  Or the English US should be OK?

Anyone here to enlighten me on the above?

Cheers.

  Oil & gas exploration
Posted by: harm_less - 04-08-2025, 10:12 AM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (6)

This is a well researched and written piece on the foolishness of Shane Jones' and the coalition's fossil fuel strategy.
https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/5688...rgy-crisis

The Key years saw crude oil prices peak at close to USD150 and decline to ~USD30. That peak coincided with Kupe flowing and 'payback' expected in mere weeks. Those days are long gone but Jones fails to see reality and continues to flog the dead horse. NZ needs to invest in renewables as Australia and the UK have or our electricity supply system will fail us, and soon.

Also worth noting that the Taranaki Think Big projects were built on the back of plentiful natural gas supply so their futures are now very much under threat. Those dominoes will topple as the gas wells are exhausted with major implications for their positions in the NZ export economy. Marsden Point has closed, Motunui looks likely to halt production again this winter and what of Ballance's urea plant? The buzzards are circling.

"He was caught on video cheating on the golf course; he cheated on his taxes, he cheated on his business loans, he cheated on his wives, he cheated on the business contractor that he stiffed through forty years of business, and he tried to cheat on the 2020 election."

Is he extremely nuts or just a really, really  nasty piece of work?

HOW anyone can make such a comment abot children dying of starvation is beyond understanding. Angry

  Brother Printer Updates
Posted by: brucem - 02-08-2025, 07:51 AM - Forum: Computing and Technology - No Replies

My printer, Brother DCP-J1050DW, is yet again wanting to update the application, for at least the second time in about 3 or 4 days!  I have updated it at least twice. A little while ago there was a Firmware update also that I did. Is this all genuine, or is somesort of scam involved?
