Surprise ~ Chat GPT can help chemists . . .

Well I'll be blowed,  here's the bot actually being useful.    (Look around 15 min + for the example.)   I would not have guessed it could do that.

Have I failed the Turing test?

Why does my Outlook new email page have the ability to format text greyed out? And yes, it is set to HTML. Does anybody have a cure for this frustration?

  "But we're not racist"
Posted by: Lilith7 - 07-07-2023, 12:12 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (2)

If these idiots aren't racist, then apparently, I'm Marie of Romania. Only "good Maori" allowed into their protest meetings - where a member of their 'security' is none other than Kyle Chapman, former head of the National Front (which was deeply racist) & one or two other similar groups.

But they're 'not racist.'

They refuse entry to Maori women with Ta Moko. But they're 'not racist.'

And oddly enough those attending included members of destiny 'church'

Dodgy

Among the security staff was far-right activist Kyle Chapman, while members of Destiny Church and controversial street preacher Lincoln Russ also attended.

More than 100 people turned up to protest against an anti co-governance meeting in Ōtautahi Christchurch.
And, as with other such events, two Māori women were refused entry into the meeting.
Anti co-governance campaigner Julian Batchelor┬áspoke at the ÔÇÿStop Co-GovernanceÔÇÖ meeting at the Scottish Society Hall in St Albans on Thursday, the latest stop in his national roadshow.

One woman, Helena Winiata, tried to go into the meeting, saying she wanted to ÔÇ£just observeÔÇØ, but was told it was a private event and she was not allowed in.
Her brother had been allowed entry just minutes before.
Winiata believes she was not let in because of her t─ü moko tattoo.

Teresa Butler, who also has a t─ü moko, was told she could not enter the meeting because she was ÔÇ£a M─üori activistÔÇØ. She accused the organisers of only excluding M─üori.
Security refused to comment on the decision-making behind who was allowed entry.
Last month at a meeting in Blenheim,┬áMarlborough filmmaker Keelan Walker tried to attend┬ábut Batchelor stopped him at the door, and said he couldnÔÇÖt come in because he wasnÔÇÖt a ÔÇ£good M─üoriÔÇØ who would sit there and listen and ÔÇ£be respectful all the way throughÔÇØ.

BatchelorÔÇÖs website says he is ÔÇ£fighting against tribal rule, racism, separatism, and apartheid ... for one person, one vote, for one law for all and racial unityÔÇØ. It also claims ÔÇ£protesters are simply pawns in the elite M─üori plan to take over New ZealandÔÇØ.

  NordPass password manager
Posted by: bellbird - 07-07-2023, 11:41 AM - Forum: PressF1 - No Replies

My paid sub for LastPass expired and due to things like the issues with their security breaches etc I closed my account. Am trying NordPass because there were mentions of it being user friendly to older folks. Importing my passwords was relatively easy and I'll sort them into folders etc later. During signing up I had to set up two logins and am not sure why but will check that (I can hear wainui saying I should have checked first!)   I couldn't figure out how to put their icon on the menu bar even after installing the Firefox add-on but eventually got that sorted. It takes a while to get used to something new but so far so good. Anyone else tried this password manager?

Is it just me, or does this seem deeply obscene at a time when people elsewhere in our world are starving? We're a very strange species.

  Hand-Eye coordination exercises . . .

This morning's round of routine exercises and mental stimulation is finally complete.  No world Solitaire records were even mildly threatened or even approached, but alas it is reported that the average is a bit depressed.

  Another shooting in America
Posted by: Lilith7 - 04-07-2023, 03:44 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - No Replies

Including two children. Perhaps these shootings will reach that magic number of deaths by shooting, which leads America to change its gun laws.
They have at least got the person responsible.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-66061204

"Eight people have been shot in a mass shooting in the Kingsessing area of south-west Philadelphia on Monday, police said.
A suspect has been taken into custody and a weapon has been recovered, CNN reported. Two children were reportedly taken to hospital.
The suspect was wearing a ballistic vest and had a rifle and handgun, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
Victims were found by police at multiple locations, the newspaper said.

The attack in Philadelphia on the eve of Independence Day came just one day after two people died and 28 were injured - about half of them children - in a shooting attack in Baltimore, Maryland.
Authorities there are still searching for multiple suspects who are believed to have opened fire during an annual community gathering."

  @!#$%^&*()_ Orbi...

I hate being tech dumb.

So, at midday I get an email from Electric Kiwi telling me to plug in the Orbi as I'm now with them... Except the thing then refuses to let me on the internet. Reset. Unplug. Replug. Reset - do all those things for THREE Farkin HOURS!!!

Only to be told once I replaced the old modem and got onto E K chat, that using the old modem was fine, the Orbi isn't necessary...

Duh.

I hate being tech dumb. And I wish I had wine.  Big Grin
