  Exclusive Brethren not welcome

Can't say I blame them, either.

"The four submissions raised a long list of issues, including the noise, the loss of an established residential property in a time of housing shortage, the fact the application was for a non-residential purpose for people who live outside the neighbourhood, and that the hall will be for people ÔÇ£who refuse to associate with the neighbours and do not welcome them at their premises does not reflect the existing tight-knit community of Reynolds RoadÔÇØ
They also said they had no confidence that there would only be two meetings per week, and said the group that purchased the property had previously misrepresented their intentions ÔÇô neighbours were told it was purchased to help family members get on the property ladder.
The planner found that any adverse effects of the proposal could be appropriately avoided, remedied or mitigated and that it was consistent with District Plan, and recommended that consent be granted, subject to a list of conditions."

Thumbs Up Went to costco in the weekend

I must say it lived up to all the hype, but it does pay to research your prices before shopping there.
Most things in general worked out very cheap, at least 40% savings on most products, but some things may only be about 10-20% cheaper.
But for example, I bought a 12 pack of Watties very special Tomato Soups, for $23. The same soups are now selling for $5.39 per can at new world, to buy the same amount of soup at that price at New World was almost $65, thats almost a 65% saving!
I worked out that I easily paid my membership price just from doing one little shop there.
Biggest downside I found was the selection of products in store is limited, for instance you will typically only find one or two flavours of potato chips, but they rotate stuff around in store each week, so there could be a totally different selection next time.
Just shows you how much the supermarkets are ripping us off.
I hope they roll out more stores across NZ, the supermarket chains have had it far too good for too long, with the cost of living at the moment, its going to make a huge difference, the rumor ive heard is that we are supposed to be getting one in Tauranga. Saves me going to Auckland every 3 months or so to do a big shop.

  Power rangers scrapped in NZ
Posted by: nzoomed - 29-06-2023, 09:19 AM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (4)

What the real news is to me was that power rangers is still a thing!
Let alone actually filming the show in NZ, had absolutely no idea!
Was all the rage around 1994 in NZ.

Think about this -

Especially interesting for those who are still convinced humanity has not terraformed this planet - and contributed massively in the process to Climate Change...

  National party; racist poster
Posted by: Lilith7 - 27-06-2023, 07:10 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (7)

This really isn't a good look for them. And seriously 'pigeon' instead of pidgin just makes whoever wrote the nasty little addition look ignorant.

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/n...NP6IJ6ZE/#

The poster, used widely by National Party candidates and members at public events, asks people to put a sticker next to the issue that is most important to them, picking from options such as the cost of living, housing, health, education and law and order.
On the Katikati poster, somebody had handwritten extra categories: ÔÇ£co-governanceÔÇØ and ÔÇ£pigeon [sic] EnglishÔÇØ.
Coromandel MP Scott Simpson said as far as he could ascertain, a party volunteer added the categories in response to questions from members of the public.
ÔÇ£That wonÔÇÖt be happening again.ÔÇØ
Asked if it was racist, he said ÔÇ£I think it was in response to members of the public, I donÔÇÖt think itÔÇÖs appropriate and I wouldnÔÇÖt have done it.ÔÇØ

  Elton at Glastonbury
Posted by: SueDonim - 27-06-2023, 11:40 AM - Forum: Music - Replies (1)

It was great to see the news coverage of Elton John at Glastonbury. Even better to see that Ray Cooper is still performing with him.  I gather that he deliberately stays out of the limelight, but he has supported so many of the biggest names since the 70s and is still there. I'm sure it must be some kind of record.

  Is GOM Media Player safe?
Posted by: Neil F - 25-06-2023, 09:18 PM - Forum: PressF1 - Replies (1)

I periodically like to download Foreign Language Musical Videos and have English Subtitles. Often I have to search separately for a SRT f using something like downsubs  then add it to the download file.
KM Player 64x still requires this. On reading yesterday about GOM Player the brief "blurb" suggested it automatically searched for subtitle files. Today on Filepuma I decided to trial it but download was stopped -Win Defender said Virus detected.
Then I logged onto GOM's direct website and downloaded it (Version 23..88.5357 ).Ok but have, because of the above warning ,have not tried to install from Downloads.

Is GOM a safe reliable program? Has anyone used it and how "good "is it for automatically searching for Subtitle files?

Guidance please
Neil
