Australia votes today
Posted by: Lilith7 - 14-10-2023, 10:07 AM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (16)

That lot over the dtich vote today on whether or not  to establish an Indigenous voice to parliament. Good luck, Australia.

"But the proportion of undecided voters, believed to be around the 10-15 per cent range but as high as a quarter in some surveys, has the Yes camp hopeful the referendum will succeed.

Speaking yesterday, Albanese urged Australians to embrace what he described as a once-in-a-generation opportunity to improve the lives of Indigenous Australians.

"This is not my campaign. This is a request from the First Australians made in 2017 at Uluru, after years of consultation with thousands of Indigenous Australians across hundreds of meetings, across many years," he said.Today."

I'm going out on a limb and calling it a Left victory by the skin of all their teeth.

What say you fellow citizens?

James Shaw says he will pack his bags for Australia

If a NZF or ACT MP gets a deputy PM position.
Very likely scenario given the way polls are heading.
Let's hold him to his word.

Why don't they call a spade a spade?

There was a story on the news tonight about cameras in the toilets. But why does TVNZ have to copy the┬á├Øanks? Why do they call it a bathroom? It is not a bathroom, it is a toilet! They are talking more like the Yanks every day.
Let's keep it Kiwi. Call it like what it Is - a toilet.

Bugger.

"Stand-up comedian, writer and actor Cal Wilson has died, aged 53, her agency said on Wednesday.

Wilson died after a short illness at Royal Alfred Hospital in Sydney, the ABC new in Australia reported.
In a statement released on Wednesday morning, Token Artists said: ÔÇ£We are devastated to share the news that Cal Wilson, the much-loved stand up comedian, writer and actor died today, surrounded by family and friends after a short illness at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. She was 53 years old.ÔÇØ
ÔÇ£CalÔÇÖs generosity, talent and friendship have been constants in the Australian comedy scene for the last twenty years. Cal was loved by her family, friends, fans and peers and a huge hole has been torn in the heart of our community.ÔÇØ
Originally from Christchurch, New Zealand, Wilson moved to Melbourne in 2003 to star in the sketch show, Skithouse. She went on to become one of AustraliaÔÇÖs best-known comedians with appearances on Spicks and Specks, Good News Week, Would I Lie To You and in her own Netflix stand-up special."

Thumbs Up sensible policy around solar farms in the UK
Posted by: C_T_Russell - 10-10-2023, 09:35 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (3)

Farmland shouldn't be wasted for solar panels, I know that you can graze around them to a certain extent and provide animal shelter, but there is not that much room on farms for panels

Better to put them on all the rooftops and perhaps explore building a solar farm in Morocco instead and link it to Europe.

  pitfalls of wind power

Does NZ have a recycling program for all these shitty turbines?
Looks like they have a short life and cand be disposed of easily.
Overseas, they are just piling them up and they end up getting buried.
I think they are made of carbon fibre/fibreglass composite materials.
We will be facing this issue in the next decade I expect.

  11,000 unvaccinated doctors/health workers
Posted by: C_T_Russell - 10-10-2023, 09:13 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (3)

OIA Request.
Yet many Frontline nurses lost their jobs.
Looks like many top dogs refused the vaccine and were granted exemption.
No doubt they knew better about the health effects and the ministry of health couldn't do without them, likely because we couldn't function without surgeons and doctors in the hospitals.
I'm surprised that the number was that high.
Says alot, and when NZ first get back in, there will be a huge can of worms opened.

  Brother MFC L2713DW - Scan
Posted by: Galaxy01 - 10-10-2023, 09:37 AM - Forum: PressF1 - Replies (3)

Where are my scanned file?

My above printer was working fine the other day, but this morning, when I tried to scan a file, I couldn't locate the scanned file!
Usually, when the scan is completed, it asks to send to PC, when pressed, a window pops up (my PC) and the file is there!

But now, when I pressed send to PC, nothing pops up.  I searched all over, just couldn't locate my scanned file!

I think it happened after I updated the software.

Please help!
