Several supermarkets in Lancashire have removed their self service checkouts after feedback from customers.
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-lancashire-67373472
"Supermarket chain Booths is axing almost all self-service tills in its stores in what it says is a response to customer demand.
All but two of the 28 stores run by the company, which trades in northern England, will have staffed checkouts.
The exceptions are Keswick and Windermere, two of its Cumbria shops.
The firm, which has 16 stores in Lancashire as well as outlets in Yorkshire and Cheshire, said the policy was driven by customer feedback.
Booths is believed to be the first UK supermarket to move away from using self-service tills, which have become increasingly common in recent years.
"We believe colleagues serving customers delivers a better customer experience and therefore we have taken the decision to remove self-checkouts in the majority of our stores," the company said.
Mr Murray added: "We are a business that prides ourselves on the high standards and high levels of warm, personal care.
"We like to talk to people and we're really proud that we're moving largely to a place where our customers are served by people, by human beings, so rather than artificial intelligence, we're going for actual intelligence."

I have ripped one of my cds to my Win11 PC.  It would appear that when I play a cd, the cd is automatically copied to c:/Users/Bryan/music. From here, if I play the music, it plays in the Windows Media Player. I would for my own reasons prefer to play the music in the Films & TV app. I have no idea how I can do this. Is it a matter of changing something to do this or would I be better off trying to rip the cd again in another way?

Icelandic authorities have declared a state of emergency following a series of powerful earthquakes that shook the country's southwestern Reykjanes peninsula, indicating an elevated risk of a volcanic eruption in the region. The village of Grindavik, housing around 4,000 people, has been evacuated. It is situated 1.86 miles from the epicenter where 1400 earthquakes occurred in the past 24 hours. On Thursday, the Blue Lagoon, along with its geothermal plant near Grindavik the primary provider of electricity and water to 30,000 residents has been closed off to the public.

I did the shopping yesterday.
For fuel prices, on the way I passed Z at about $2.90 and over $3.00 if you don't subscribe to whatever their deal is (I don't, so I don't know), Gull was $2.847, Waitomo was $2.759 and I filled the car at PaknSave at $2.691 with their shopping voucher. Gull is still the cheapest option in town, but if you have any need to drive the 15kms to the real shopping centre, then fuel is far cheaper.
I had a reason to go to the Warehouse and made a point of checking out grocery prices while there. The 2 litre milk ($3.00) and 500gm butter ($4.30) were good deals but they were the only ones. More than half of what was on offer were products that I would simply never buy at any price (eg biscuits, chips, etc) and for those categories that I do purchase, the items were all 50c to $2 too much. OK if you would have to travel elsewhere to buy them cheaper, but in this case I was on my way to PnS anyway. One thing I noted was odd sizing - the 1.8 litre of laundry liquid was $16, the same as the same-branded product at PnS where $16 buys 2 litres.
So I bought milk and butter then went off to PnS as planned for the rest, before making good use of the fuel discount. So far the Warehouse is not looking promising for competition in the grocery trade.
On another subject, I'm frustrrated by the fact that I would like to buy pastry rather than spend time making it. I don't buy preservative (for health reasons) nor palm oil (for environmental reasons) and those two factors leave me back to having to make it. Pure laziness I know but it seems ridiculous that straight unadulterated pastry seems to be difficult to find.

| Outlook email A/c replacement. |

I have a gmail email account and it is run through MS Outlook. I am sick and tired of the "ad" emails I am now getting. I was using MS mail until it was replaced by the new Outlook mail. I wish now to move away from Outlook to something more friendly that doesn't force ads upon you unless you pay a monthly sub to do so.
Any suggestions as to a friendly email provider and how do I work through Google to remove Outlook and apply a new email provider?

If you are having trouble or are waiting to go from 22h2 to 23h2, Elevens forum has an MS patch that they have made available so you can patch your 22h2 up to 23h2. Go to the Elevens forum at https://www.elevenforum.com/ and scroll down to find it labelled as WIN Update KB5027397. The fix is a simple download.
