  my friend apologized to me
Posted by: C_T_Russell - 26-12-2023, 09:57 AM - Forum: Covid-19 - No Replies

For walking out and slamming the door on me when I told him under no circumstances that I would be having that jab.
Now he confesses to me that he has not felt the same since and was mad because it never prevented him from getting covid.

Not condoning his behavior, but their security must be poor.
Employ him as a white hat hacker or something lots of big tech companies cry out for this sort of skill.

  The Nicola Willis budget
Posted by: Lilith7 - 20-12-2023, 01:06 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (26)

What joys await us...

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politic...ons-worsen

[b]"Finance Minister Nicola Willis has found nearly $7.5 billion worth of public savings, but faces tough decisions as she seeks to balance the Treasury books and deliver tax relief amid a worsening economic picture with higher costs to keep the lights on in the next 12 months.  [/b]

Willis revealed her mini-Budget alongside the TreasuryÔÇÖs half year economic and fiscal update in Wellington, outlining a ÔÇ£shrunkenÔÇØ surplus, bigger borrowing requirements and greater fiscal risks such as those around infrastructure delivery and cyclone recovery, natural disasters and climate change.┬á

[b]She will reveal the plan for tax relief in the May budget, but promised to ÔÇ£restore a fairer balanceÔÇØ in the government books, reform the public finance act, and continue a savings drive in the public sector, on Wednesday.[/b]

ÔÇ£Tax reduction is coming but first we have to do the work. We have made a downpayment - finding $7.5b already,ÔÇØ she said.┬á

She said people wouldnÔÇÖt get a ÔÇ£tax cut for ChristmasÔÇØ but would get one next year, along with stronger fiscal management."┬á

Ah promises, promises...if I was a betting woman I'd be willing to put money on the only 'fair' oiutcome being for those already well off. And - 'strong fiscal management?'
What exactly does that mean??

Clamping down on anything & everything just to have more funds for govt projects, at the expense of everything else such as  health, housing, & welfare?

God to a hungry child

I didnÔÇÖt make this world for you
You didnÔÇÖt buy any stocks in my
railroad
You didnÔÇÖt invest in my
Corporation
Where are your shares in Standard
Oil?
I made the world for the rich
And the will-be-rich
And the have-always-been-rich
Not for you
Hungry child.

Windows 11 upgrade for unsupported hardware
Posted by: king1 - 19-12-2023, 10:18 AM - Forum: Computing and Technology - Replies (2)

From here
https://www.pcworld.com/article/2103104/...ckout.html

you can run the installation setup exe from a command prompt as such

Code:
setup /product server

apparently it looks like it is installing windows server but ends up on the correct home/pro version, and ignores the TPM/CPU requirements

Because it uses the setup exe I guess this only works when using a flash drive and not from the installation assistant... Going to try this shortly...

  Keyboard letters give different outputs
Posted by: nzoomed - 18-12-2023, 06:48 PM - Forum: Computing and Technology - Replies (11)

Personally I think its PEBKAC but this person never has had any issues before.
I thought that the keyboard layout may have been messed up, but everything checks out.
To top it off they asked me to replace the laptop as they wanted to upgrade it regardless.
And the new laptop is doing the same thing (for the user)
I've looked at it and can't see anything wrong.
Still don't know what apps the user experienced this issue with, but all I transferred over from the old computer was some documents and photos and reinstalled office 365.
Seems pretty coincidental to me that 2 separate computers would do the same thing.
Apparently pressing a full stop gives the letter y and rebooting fixed it.

Interested to hear if anyone else has heard of something similar.
Either way, I can't fix something that I've been so far unable to replicate!
