This success for the Whanganui District Council is heartening. The government doesn't realise the strength and tenacity of local opposition to the Fast Tracking of this highly controversial activity. It's going to be a long and rocky road for TTR as they attempt to make good their plans for the South Taranaki Bight. Anti Seabed mining sentiment is running very high down here in the Naki.

Thing is, this govt doesn't seem interested in the opinions of those opposed to anything they want to do... with any luck, that just may make then a one term govt.
