Desktop Icons
#1
The cat jumped on my laptop keyboard (Windows 10) and now all but about 5 icons have disappeared from my
desktop.  'show desktop icons' is ticked, it is not in 'tablet mode' - I cannot get the lost ones back - does anyone
have any ideas please?

what icons are left there macmar?

that might give us some clues, and how many in total were there...

Presume you checked the recycle bin?

HI - not in Recycle Bin.   Left are Recycle Bin, Network, Data D, Control Panel and This PC - I probably had 10-12 others, such as Picasa 3, Team Viewer, Trend, Word, hard to remember

Also Outlook, Google, Microsoft Edge

the Data D and Recycle bin are the only ones that could accept a drag and drop so maybe the ended up in Data D

Probably too late now but CTRL Z can sometimes undo file operations in windows. If it has a buffer you might have to do that a few times. Probably just need to close everything, click on the desktop somewhere and Ctrl Z to UNDO

open data d in a window  so that you can also see the desktop, then you can just left click, hold, and drag over to the desktop.

either individually or with a multiple file selection
