We can't save everyone.  Would be nice if we could  but we cant.  You could say we could ban all cars as they kill 380 people to year -  many of those deaths preventable.

I know how to lower the road toll. Fast.  Shoot all drunk drivers.

While drunk drivers are a portion of road deaths, a rapidly shrinking portion, the main factors now are speed and inattention/distractions combined with failure to wear seat belts.  Perhaps we should shoot all them too?

these people are presumably taking on the risk of their activities themselves.  You are advocating imposing the increased risk on society by loosening covid restrictions

I've no idea why some on the right politically often assume that if you're even slightly left, then you 'must want to socialise everything, & have no profit' when they have the very clear example of how very successful a mixture of both socialism & capitalism can be in some of the Nordic countries, whose populations often feature at the top of those 'happiest people' surveys.

Which leads to the strong probability that removing the stress of providing medical & education needs for their families works extremely well - & since stress can affect health, its probably also a health benefit as well.

You ignore that they also have significant oil and gas reserves, are part of a massive economic block all within a few thousand KM and their major exports aren't farming products and tourism.  But hey based on what you said let's slap the top rate to 60% and we should all then be happy.

Clearly NZ couldn't emulate that since we don't have the same resources - but there's no reason we can't do as close as we can to their way of dealing with things such as education & health by having higher taxes.
People on the right politically are always so very quick to condemn their way of doing things, possibly terrified at the awful prospect of parting with more of their income via taxes.
