See? These are kids. If they were adults, with power, I would agree. But the fact is kids have none. If parents don't feed them, family doesn't feed them, neighbours don't feed them then what do they do?

They steal.

Because hunger is real, and must be satisfied.

And guess what? Punishing them, or their families, or their neighbours  or their schools still doesn't feed them. So they steal.

They'll get fed in jail.

So? You were born in a hospital someone else paid for...educated at someone elses expense...you drive on roads paid for by others, and use many other facilities others have contributed to.
