Unintended attention due to badly worded headline
Posted by: harm_less - 14-07-2025, 06:56 PM - Forum: Environment - Replies (6)

A bit of a faux pas in wording a headline of a serious issue didn't do this study any favours, and its correction provided fodder for the climate change deniers unfortunately.

Well Chrome has finally done it!!

Chrome version 138 has turned off all my manifest 2 extensions and won't let me re-enable them...

Thanks to a post here
https://www.reddit.com/r/uBlockOrigin/co...hrome_now/

The next best work around is to modify the 'Target' field of the chrome shortcut - modifications in bold

"C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --profile-directory="Default"   --disable-features=ExtensionManifestV2Unsupported,ExtensionManifestV2Disabled

How long this lasts is anyone's guess - bit of an irony calling something being disabled or unsupported as a feature me thinks...

Jack Tame do we want a privatised health system
Posted by: Lilith7 - 14-07-2025, 11:45 AM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (34)

Ever more blatant about their vicious Neo Liberal agenda, this disgraceful govt is moving ever closer to privatised health. They're no longer bothering to disguise their quest for ever more profit.

Phil & Sue Bagshaw set up the charity hopsital here, & are well respected. I suspect if David Seymour attacks these two, he may be very surprised at the reaction.

Very clearly privatised health isn't in any way at all a good idea - apart from making money. I think they make an excellent point in that private health Drs will lack experience.
And there has been zero consultation on this issue - why not? Is it because most of us do NOT WANT privatised health?

Really, apart from some very, very wealthy people - does anyone want a privatised health system? Wouldn't we be better to pay a bit more tax, sufficient to cover health & education as some of the Scandinavian countries do.

Jack Tame, Q&A with Dr Sue Bagshaw & Dr Phil Bagshaw.

  Photos "sync pending"
Posted by: allblack - 10-07-2025, 06:10 PM - Forum: PC World Chat - Replies (6)

I've lost the plot and run out of bad language, so trying here.

I took photos on my phone, I then uploaded them to that hateful Onedrive, and then I downloaded them to my PC so I had copies on that.

Then I moved them from the Downloads folder to the Pictures folder under Desktop. Yesterday.

Tonight I went to add a photo to my desktop and they didn't show in the Pictures folder, but when I access the Pictures folder thru Explorer they show with circling blue arrows and the notation 'sync pending'.

I Googled, without any luck. Apparently they 'take time' to sync with Onedrive, but why do they need to 'sync' if I've downloaded them??? As far as I'm concerned if I've downloaded them from Onedrive then Onedrive can f*** off!

Any ideas people? How can my photos be independent of Onedrive on my PC?

Thanks.

No shortage of idiots - how the devil is flying flags hurting anyone fgs. Dodgy

Ngati Tukorehe will fly more flags after racists damaged those flying on a marae.
They were originally set up to support the opposition march to parliament against ACT's treaty principles bill.

Transferring music from PC folder to Android Phone
Posted by: Pato - 10-07-2025, 12:29 PM - Forum: PressF1 - Replies (3)

I need some help with what I thought would be an easy task, but it is straining my old brain.

I had my music on a memory stick which I put into a folder on my PC. I want to transfer this music onto my Samsung A16+ phone.

I have connected my phone to the PC via a USB cable, but this only showed the drive of my phone and nothing else.

With the help of Google, I eventually enabled "Transferring Files" via Developer Options but I am no further ahead.

Can someone suggest where I may be going wrong please.?

Unemployed people to be used in flood clean up
Posted by: Lilith7 - 09-07-2025, 05:09 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (7)

On one hand, it makes some sense to get those who haven't a job to help clean up the mess, but on the other hand it does have a faint whiff of 'the poor must be made to work'.

And you have to hope they'll check that anyone involved is in good health & able to help.
