  "Entitlement & laziness"
Posted by: Lilith7 - 07-01-2025, 02:52 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (17)

According to a man in Point Chevalier, those are the reasons for people leaving their shopping trolleys in the street.

Yeah...he might like to try being say, a solo parent with small children & no car, see if he feels 'entitled & lazy'.... Rolleyes

Nobody likes trolleys left on streets but claiming that its all down to laziness & entitlement smacks of being uninformed...perhaps his type of view could be described as 'priviliged & ignorant' Rolleyes

Unprecedented number of submissions on treaty principles
Posted by: Lilith7 - 07-01-2025, 02:45 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (9)

An Otago law expert Professor Andrew Geddis has said he was expecting a high number of submissions given public interest & said that they could number into the tens of thousands.

I hope he's right & so strong is the oppostition to this that they're forced to give up.

  Upgrade PC build plan
Posted by: Excalibur - 06-01-2025, 09:03 PM - Forum: PressF1 - Replies (20)

My existing PC is 13 years old. In addition PC Health Check says it can't be upgraded to Windows 11.
Issues:
Doesn't support secure boot
Doesn't support TPM2.0
Processor not supported.

So my plan is to start thinking about an upgrade before I need it. In this way I can properly plan the move and be ready in case something hurries the inevitable.

The thought was to use my case and PSU, or I have some bigger PSU in storage.
Swap in a new mobo, CPU and ram.

I've done a couple new builds some years ago. Looking like things have changed so expecting to have to learn a bit.

Current setup:
DH67BL (LGA1155) I believe this is mATX
Intel Core i5 2500 Sandy Bridge
DDR3 16GB
Case 450L x 430H x 200W
Graphics GTX 550Ti

Useage:
Internet
Videos
No gaming
Very light graphics work

Where to start?
What are the considerations?
Will my case fit regular ATX?
Perhaps buy parts in a bundle?
I understand I can upgrade to W11 with suitable PC spec.

Thanks.

It tries hard and should be commended, but after about four pages of errors it comes up with

Wink Ping by default on Trademe?
Posted by: Oh_hunnihunni - 04-01-2025, 03:12 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

Did you guys know listings on TM now offer Ping by default? You have to untick a box if you aren't interested in offering that, and paying another commission to them. Despite never signing up for such a thing my listing sold and the buyer paid by Ping, despite my payment instructions requesting bank account, and far as I remember only that on the listing.

Be wary, when making a new listing, how many other silent things are we signing up to?

Not very transparent. I wonder how the Commerce Commission would view this?

The spinoff....I SO hope the first one comes to pass. Rolleyes

But I hope the one about Nicola Willis is wrong - & the one about Trump, but hope the one about Zoi is true, & while I'd love to believe the final one, I doubt we'll get that lucky.. Rolleyes Big Grin
