Any bets? Community transmission of omicron, and a move to the red setting?

Banning the Bish. Food for thought.
Posted by: Magoo - 23-01-2022, 07:44 AM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (20)

i sniggered snidely on hearing the news of the Bish being incarcerated for.... for.... um...why is he incarcerated?
whatever not important. it was my personal dislike of the parasite driving my smug armchair response.

on reflection i may have been blinkered by the gleeful schadenfreude of it all.  he has been jailed for breaching bail conditions, a lawful order, this i understand. but that lawful order, was it lawful? should he have been charged in the first instance?

yes, the semantics, 'family picnic' and other smart arse remarks do him no justice, but if we distil it to its essence, he has been jailed to shut him down.  his views, fucked up as they are, and no one hates an antivaxxer like i do, are still sacrosanct under law.

im still out on this one, the bish can sit and rot for all i care, but best we do it fairly.

am i being too woke? too liberal? is there a flaw in my reasoning?
or should we just hang the miserable prick out of spite?

Insanity and Stupidity in the business of loans
Posted by: Me+Me - 22-01-2022, 09:14 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (9)

Personally I have no need for, nor any desire to get, any kind of loan however reading the following article I was shocked at this:

https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/1275512...k-password

It's insane for them to say it's 100% secure.  Not that they care because if your bank account is compromised because you gave out your password the bank is gonna say "Tough".  WTF next ???

Meat Loaf: Bat Out Of Hell singer dies at 74 - BBC News

Interesting quote from last year... When Jim Steinman died last year Meat Loaf paid tribute, posting: "Coming here soon, my brother Jimmy."

Rest in peace

  Why are we at Orange?
Posted by: Wainuiguy - 21-01-2022, 07:45 PM - Forum: Covid-19 - Replies (81)

The government made much ado about the traffic light system and its introduction yet the breakdown of each light suggest that we should be at green.

Also the announcement this week of the Omicron "plan" due to be released if 1 or 2 weeks time seems to suggest there is no plan as such.  If there was why wouldn't you release it now?  Why the wait?

  Chicken and mushroom pot pie

...with potato salad and tomatoes from the garden.

Finally get to use those tiny pots from my Kitchenaid sticker collecting. They look rather good too, bubbling away in the oven.

Might be time for another wine before I serve it up... Big Grin

Issuing vaccine exempt letters - for $75 - which carry no weight.  Dodgy

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/...on-letters

"ÔÇ£If someone is trying to sell you an exemption or suggesting you could pay a fee for the service of getting an exemption, they are trying to rip you off. There is no other language I can use for it, it is a rip-off scheme, donÔÇÖt do it. There will be one exemption process and everybody will have to follow it,ÔÇØ Hipkins said.

It would seem that missionaries are still taking diseases into isolated nations. I had thought that  it was an 18th century issue.
