Some books are like pavlova and whipped cream |

Which is a good thing. A good well made pav is a thing of beauty and very easy to eat. But not every day.
These books are so useful, for times when the world is just too hard to cope with. Times when we need to go along for the ride, but not be required to think too much, or be challenged to use our own imagination. I love a good hard puzzle to chew over, so my tastes run to science fiction of the British kind, or huge literary journeys that require total submersion just to keep up with the world created within the pages. But in between those deep dives there is nothing better than a fast Norah Roberts romance or a good guys bad guys chase from John Sandford.
But on my bedside table at the moment I am in Edinburgh, my Father's city, in Leith where he grew up, walking alongside Inspector Rebus. Who is aging far too fast...

The Austrians have had a gutsful of the naysayers, scaredy cats and morons continuing to jeapardise the health of their vulnerable by no getting vaccinated.
They are about to enter into a lockdown where only the unclean, disease carrying unvaccinated citizens will be under house arrest.
Awesome for the vaccinated.
Better traffic flow, plenty of room at the movie theaters, on planes, in restaurants. No line at the bank.
Not so awesome for the unvaccinated but we are doing it to help them stay safe.
They dont want to hang with us 'sheeple' anyway, so I dont think they will complain.
Bummer if they do, get vaxxed.
It cant start soon enough here.

1 cup sugar, 1 tsp. baking powder, 1 cup water, 1 tsp. salt , 1 cup brown sugar, Lemon juice, 4 large eggs, Nuts, 1 bottle tequila, 2 cups dried fruit.
Sample a cup of tequila to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the tequila again to be sure it is of the highest quality then Repeat. Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add 1 teaspoon of sugar. Beat again.
At this point, it is best to make sure the tequila is still OK. Try another cup just in case. Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 eegs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit. Pick the fruit up off the floor, wash it and put it in the bowl a piece at a time trying to count it.
Mix on the turner. If the fried druit getas stuck in the beaterers, just pry it loose with a drewscriver Sample the tequila to test for tonsisticity. Next, sift 2 cups of salt, or something. Check the tequila. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.
Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. Don't forget to beat off the turner. Finally, throw the bowl through the window. Finish the tequila and wipe the counter with cat

Traffic light system |

I had a theory that we'd move into the traffic light system at the end of November regardless of the vaccine rates, looks like I may be onto something:
https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/...es-up.html
It makes sense. Giving a clear goal is great incentive to go and get vaccinated. But now that the vaccine rates have dropped off, moving to the new system will be an even greater incentive because it will prevent the unvaxxed from participating in society like normal.
Bring it on I say!
