What are you reading 2022 ?
Posted by: Zurdo - 28-02-2022, 06:55 PM - Forum: Books - Replies (42)

We need to get the year right !

Ann Cleeves - gotta  be good. We've all read Vera and Shetland...and watched the TV shows. I've stream Vera from Series 1 to whenever they let me see the latest. And Shetland too.

So she's got a new one...well, new for me, 2019. Two Rivers, the first book in the series is The Long Call. I got it out of the e library yesterday....and by the first couple of pages it's all sounding a bit familiar...

BUGGAR !  I also just started streaming a show on TVNZ on Demand - The Long Call. I've only watched 2 episodes, and by the first couple of chapters they have changed things...grrrr. So...stop watching...or stop reading. You can't stop me reading, and we all know the book is far better than the movie or TV series, already I have far more background to the characters than I gleaned from the TV show. I'll read the book, and then get all grumpy when I watch the rest of the TV show. Or maybe I won't watch it again.

The return of the 1pm press conference

Tues - Fri each week with Dr Bloomfield and other health professionals, fewer politicians than previously.   It is partly an effort to counter misinformation and I think it's a great idea.

Thumbs Up 50 years since homosexuality became legal
Posted by: Lilith7 - 27-02-2022, 03:11 PM - Forum: News and Current Affairs - Replies (23)

I hadn't realised - no idea where that 50 years went, but well done us. it took long enough to recognise that gay people were just people much like us, except they're attracted to the same gender.

Sometimes, its good to be a Kiwi & look back at the good stuff we've done. Smile

Attitudes have thankfully changed since these times.

  Do you think
Posted by: Oldfellah - 26-02-2022, 03:27 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (18)

the protesters will pack up and leave if the end of the mandates was announced?

Personally I think it will take a long time to get rid of them because they have built up a community where like minded people can sprout off the shit they believe in and would the leaders and so called security that have all the power want to give that up in a hurry?

Is empathy something you are born with or created ?
Posted by: mike - 26-02-2022, 12:28 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (17)

I'd say a combination of both but you are mainly born with it, come out
the womb with the "heart" you have got. Sure most have some degree of
empathy but some really care about the well-being of others.

Was it like something out of Once We Were Warriors Magoo and were you the bouncer
as well as the manager ? Sounds like a "full on time".

No doubt a great way to unlearn about human nature. Big Grin

The STAT command did not succeed. Error getting message number and sizes. Mail server pop.gmail.com responded: Invalid credentials.
I was mucking around trying to log on to Google to open a new account to get my new to me,ZTE Blade A330 ,cell phone to work ,gave up ,apparently only the old owner can open this second hand phone ",verification from previous sync device" which i don't have and cannot get ,so is that a wasted purchase ?...
.... any way back to my question ,,How do i get rid of this message on my mail , "The STAT command did not succeed. Error getting message number and sizes. Mail server pop.gmail.com responded: Invalid credentials." its beginning to be annoying ,every time i open mail ,there it is ....Help... thanks
