  Rude Trade Me buyer
Posted by: Underwhelmed - 07-12-2021, 04:16 PM - Forum: Trademe Discussion - Replies (16)

Has anyone ever cancelled a sale because the buyer was such a jackass that you don't want to trade with them?  Without getting into specifics, I have one now who has written to me as though I was his serf.

He has already paid but I would rather refund him than deal with him in the future when he complains about the small flaw (photographed and mentioned in the listing) which he probably hasn't read or noticed based on his inability to read instructions.  I suppose I could email him and point out the flaw and hope that he cancels the sale but I really would prefer to cancel the trade and suck up the success fee. It is a $10 item.

I am prepared to take a negative feedback and give my explanation in return (impatient, rude, not reading and following instructions). Accurate, not retaliatory.

  Auckland couriers

I gather there is a huge backlog of Aramex deliveries in Auckland. Their website says up to 9 working days delay. Does anyone know if that also applies to Auckland items being sent elsewhere - specifically by Aramex? Thanks.

  Christmas Trees

Are you a 'real' Christmas tree person, or does a fake one do the trick just as well??

I only have a little fake one, that's quite nice to look at. I don't have Christmas here, so not worth the bother of doing much.

Forgot how slow-moving Jane Campion films can be.

Great looking film let down by a fairly minor and meandering plot. Musical score was excellent - a little disturbed.

Im getting sick of all these so called "Experts" predicting about Covid saying that we will have X amount of cases if we do this and that. So far none of these so called predictions have ever eventuated as far as Im aware, whats your opinion on them?

Especially Michael Baker he is a real prophet of doom, I bet he is fun at parties.  Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Big Grin Microsoft Chrome...

That's essentially what Edge is, bundled with some extra features that integrate things into your windows ecosystem.

I just have to crack up with the way they nag users to switch over.

"Same technology as Chrome, with the added trust of Microsoft"

Are they trying to say that they are mone trustworthy than Google?

Personally, I treat them both as bad as each other.
The fact that Microsoft resorted to using an open source browser, says alot. This direction is not something that would have happened 20 years ago.
I'm surprised they are not worried about another Netscape style lawsuit the way they are going  nagging people to switch, they also do alot of underhanded methods to switch people over when updating windows and displaying a message that imply your default app settings has a "problem" and click here to fix to the "recommended" defaults.
They are not "fixing" anything, and just giving me more work, so I guess I shouldn't complain too much when someone says to me their "google" has gone lol

Photo Associations
Posted by: harm_less - 06-12-2021, 08:20 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (23)

I've long enjoyed a posting game that I contribute to on another forum and thought the concept might interest a few here.

The idea is to post an image that relates in some way to the previous posted image. It can be a connection as direct as an actor who starred in a movie still or as obscure as a product referred to in an advertising hoarding in the background of a picture. The association isn't always obvious and some degree of lateral thinking may be required to work out the association or to put up a clever 'reply'. No explanation should be required. Keep it seemly, this is a family show!

Enjoy but do be aware that this can become somewhat addictive.

  Confession
Posted by: Oh_hunnihunni - 06-12-2021, 11:45 AM - Forum: Gardening & DIY - Replies (12)

I nick cuttings from wild plants and roadsides. I know, it's thieving, and I am a criminal who should be locked up.

But, I claim insanity as a defence, I just cannot resist that swaying branch of something lovely bashing me in the head as I travel the roads and byways. This past month it has been the star jasmine and the honeysuckle that tempt me with their seductive perfume, and there are sprays in jars of water here and there in the flat, scenting the ages for surprisingly long times. And there are the odd sprig of plumbago in among them. No flowers at this time of year, but the colour is one I have to add to the garden, so, I pinched a few heeled twigs of that too.

And this morning, I checked the oldest jar, and sure enough, tiny root buds are showing. My wickedness is being rewarded...

UK bomb squad called to Gloucester hospital after man gets WWII anti-tank shell stuck up 'in his rectum'

It's understood the explosive was a shell measuring 57mm in diameter, according to Gloucestershire Live. The artillery shells were used in World War II as anti-tank rounds and later used by British tanks in North Africa.
The patient is a military enthusiast who reportedly "slipped" and landed on the piece of army ordnance, The Sun reports.
"The guy said he found the shell when he was having a clear-out of his stuff," a source told The Sun.
"He said he put it on the floor then he slipped and fell on it - and it went up his a***."
The patient has been released from hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
