You can never have enough...
It is scary. And memorable!

So, I put the soup pot on this morning, and then went to have a very steamy shower... And came out to find the pink wallpaper had unstuck itself and slithered down the wall. Too much steam I suspect! More sticky required for the refixing.

So funny - I could not work out what the weird noise was as I dried off...

When we pulled the open fire out to renovate six years ago, there were scorch marks behind the mantle piece. Thank goodness the fire had been boarded up and we never used it.

Your wallpaper story reminds me of Mum, OHH. Dad was a paperhanger by trade and Mum was forever changing the wallpaper in our home. One day Mum bought some paper with big teal circles (it was the 1970s lol) with white centers. It was Mum's second choice as she couldn't get enough of the one she wanted and was a nightmare for Dad to hang for some reason so there was a lot of swearing under his breath. Once it was up, Mum decided she hated it lol. There was a heck of a row between them with Dad saying he wasn't going to rehang the wallpaper just because she didn't like it and it ended with Mum stomping off saying well I hope it falls off the walls over night! Next morning we're up and heading to the kitchen and hear Mum laughing. Yep, the wallpaper had bubbled and literally fallen off the walls. The white in the circles had turned grey and the teal had turned an awful shade of something. Turns out the paper was faulty so mum found wallpaper similar to her first choice while us kids stripped what was left off the walls. Dad rehung the new wallpaper.

I suspect the tape was a bit old, and the steam from shower and soup pot was just the trigger it needed to disengage! Never a dull moment round this little piece of paradise.

The soup is looking magnificent though!

Hahahaha Sorry but Im loving the stories we all have.

Been a stressful day but you have me laughing.

Kiwimade your dad didnt work for Gunac or any other company in Hamilton did he? MrP worked for them, he also painted Caravans, cars etc too.

Years ago we were helping friend redecorate for a lady who had a B&B before they were called that. And MrP finally gave in and taught me how to hang wall paper.. He "Gave" me the wardrobe to do, thinking that if it was a mess it wouldn't really matter.
He was stunned at how good a job I did. And said it was wasted being hidden in the wardrobe. lol. I really enjoyed doing it.. Im still not that good at painting tho. lol Just need more practice I think

Lucky its still intact & you can re hang it later!

I managed to set fire to a hand towel - not once, but twice at different times. I had a habit when first getting up, of letting dog out while turning on oven & wiping down stove top, then lying hand towel over stove top to dry. Twice I somehow flicked on a switch for an element without realising & the hand towel caught fire - luckily I noticed straight away & dunked in the sink with tap running. So, I don't do that any more.

Paid power bill this morning & then went to get bread but once again they didn't have the one I like so had to get another which really annoys me; why the hell don't they order more of the one I like, since I'm obviously not the only person who likes it.
I felt ever so virtuous for the bread run & especially paying their wretched bill, that I had a small splurge on TM & bought a couple of DVD's - their prices seem to have gone up there as well so went for two cheaper ones.

Soup and the bakers multigrain for me tonight. Though I am contemplating a bit of surgery on one of the Granny Smith apples, stuffing it with dates and raisins and wrapping it in a sweet short pastry blanket. My Mum used to call them Babies Heads, which of course appealed hugely to us gruesome loving kids, and one would keep me in sweet and tasty for three nights, so it would be worth it!

Notice, very wet one too, in the letterbox advising us of the annual property inspection next Wednesday afternoon. Good luck with that if the weather is fine, it is my coffee and cake day and I would much rather be doing that than playing good tenant to the LL. Specially seeing they still haven't sorted the couple of 'please fix' things I pointed out last year.

I hope we've put the paper back up in time (I'm going to find some thumb tacks to double the hanging power lol) because I am dying to see her face when she spots that.

Born stirrer, me...

Good luck, a pity you can't film the reaction! Big Grin
I was expecting a shocked reaction to the front door here when I  painted something on it, but nothing- I suspect I've been put in the eccentric old bat category! Big Grin Rolleyes Rolleyes

morning ladies Smile A flash of lightening then a big clap of thunder woke us all this morning and left the Furry One shaking under the covers. You can see the storm along the Kaimai Ranges heading down the line.

Stuffed apples are so good. Our last granny smith went to the birds to encourage the waxeyes to stay.

Might do some baking today as it's looking more and more positive the family are coming next week.

Yesterday I spent an hour or so stitching and feel I am really making progress now. I've almost finished the top of the wing and hopefully will finish that bit today.

Happy crafting Smile

Morning all
brighter rain stopped but windy

Completed the quilting yesterday and started stitching binding down last night, need to make a label today.

Boy k9s started their quiver shaking @5.30 this morning so got up and fed them, thunder vests on and we all snuggled back down in bed. Not sure what set them off possibly thunder in the distance.

Wallpaper with a mind of its own made me smile.

Drafting patterns later today for me and DGD

Have a good day

Good morning.

We have sunshine ... but for how long!

Gosh, I haven't had stuffed apples since I was a child ... what a yummy thought  Tongue

No plan for the day ... it will be too wet underfoot for garden tidying. Probably should make the most of sunshine while it lasts in some way.

Back to growing baby blanket when time allows.

Enjoy the day.

Morning everyone

Sunny but windy here. I think the rain has past here now.

Stuffed apples are simply Yumm.. I used to do them in the crockpot. but you have to cut around the middle or they will explode. But if using granny smiths they just simply melt in your mouth.

Didnt do much yesterday, another stressful day re the home and MrP.. Was sitting feeling sorry for myself and my friend from Taranaki rang.. She usually texts to see if Im free but she said she felt I needed her. She was right. I was having a total miserable patchy and we were soon laughing..

MrP taught her to drive. And one of the last things he told her before she sat her test was that He didn't teach her to get tickets.... UMMMM she's had a few lol. She's the one with the now year old car and it has met a gate post already. She's a shocker I tell ya lol. Managed to right off 3 cars in less than 6 weeks too... Im glad I drive when she visits lol

It reminded me of my first driving lesson. My Wonderful Stepfather brought a Ford Angliar for me. And on the first lesson he took a sledge hammer with him. I asked why and he said it was to stop me from laughing.

Well it didn't cos we had just stopped on a hill and swapped over so I could drive and the back of the driver seat fell off... So Said Hammer was used to prop the seat up and the lesson went ahead with A lot of laughing lol.... I past first time and have never had a ticket lol.

He would have been 93 2 days ago if cancer hadn't got him.

Will go and see MrP today since I didn't go yesterday, although if he starts to perform Ill be leaving straight away.

Have a fab day everyone

I was never very happy driving a car. My husband taught me, but I really hated it. I came home one day to a gorgeous red Triumph sports car in the drive, but even that wasn't enough of an incentive. I had my little yellow Yamaha scooter for a year or so and one day wandered into the bike shop for something and fell in love with a Honda. From then on it was all about road bikes for me. Still is really.

I just love the things. I would still be riding if the hips worked!

Miserable & raining here today. We went our our walk earlier, before it really started pithing down. Still no sign of the dog's friend on the corner & its been a week now so starting to think he may have gone. It may just be that he's inside more of course but as I was told the chap there has health issues it may be that the dog just got too much to look after - & he was clearly going to be a very big dog once he finished growing. I hope he's found a good home if he has gone, as he has a lovely nature.

Did a bit of painting & have got most of one finished, so a bit of progress.

Interesting thing happened - I recently bought a DVD from TM & the trader asked what kind of movies I liked as he had some I might like. so gave him an idea of what I prefer & this morning had an email with 6 DVD's to look at, of which I liked one or two, so I'm guessing that traders are getting fed up with TM & looking for ways around the site.

I got all carried away and pruned the roses. That was the good bit about today. Then I came inside, and broke the door.

Since the guy weatherproofed it it has been hard to pull closed enough to engage the locks. It needed a good pull. Well, today that good pull destroyed the lever handle and the door won't close at all. Shortly I shall go out and barricade it so I feel safe till Monday.

Now of course the cat wants out.

Why do these things happen to me?

Can the owners not comprehend that sometimes, there's an emergency such as this, which requires an immediate repair? Surely they have some kind of service to cover emergency situations when it affects the security of their tenant?
Bloody hell; that really isn't good enough.

Weekends are covered by a security firm, and I could call them, but their reputation isn't encouraging, so I shall leave it till Monday. I shall remove the weather strip tomorrow, that might help, then they can just fix the old style lever door lock thing...

Morning ladies Smile Well done to the Irish on their win against the All Blacks last night. They deserved the win.

OHH, I hope you managed some sleep last night and are able to have the door repaired quickly.

Our daughter and her family are definitely coming next week as they are all on the mend. So we'll have a house full of madness and noise and everything we love about them. The Furry One will love having the grandies fussing and playing with him. He knows he can take refuge in our room if need be as our room is 'out of bounds' during the day for the kids so the Furry One has that space. And our son will be coming with us to see the T Rex at the Museum too as he is just as mad over dinosaurs as our grandson. I am hoping the new extension to the expressway will be open by then too. They are having the opening ceremony on the 12th Big Grin

Another wet but warm day today. Yesterday washing got half dry on the outside line and we were in T shirts. Just crazy when other parts of NZ had snow.

More work to do on the butterfly today. I didn't quite get the top of the wing finished yesterday so will do that later on.

I need to find more dripping for the birds, it's not always at the supermarket and our butcher doesn't stock it. Might need a trip to the Aussie Butcher in Tauranga as they always seem to have a supply.

Happy crafting Smile
