You can never have enough...
Morning all
Rain overnight overcast at the moment

OHH I did lol at the irony of your CT story it's sad really, we can remember people with polio and babies being born deaf/blind cause the mum contracted measles a sheltered generation.

Tried out a cami pattern yesterday using red merino scrap yet to try it on to fit straps. If it is not a good fit I will call it charity sewing Cool

Plodding along with knitted blanket I am bored need to get it finished so that I can move on.
Off this morning  to get buttons for baby cardi that I finished last week.

Not sure what I will get up to this afternoon probably need to read the papers for a meeting that I have tonight.

Have good day

Morning everyone

On a Slow go today. Too much pain today.

My cousin has a lot of health stuff from post polio. And My dads only brother died from his polio stuff. I dont remember him at all cos we were only about 2-3 when he died leaving my aunt with a daughter and a baby on the way.

My middle brother and his wife never had their kids vaccinated for anything. And for a long time didn't get the covid shots but he has since. Probably cos he had bowel cancer.

Feeling unmotivated at the mo...

My thumb is sore of all stupid things lol..

Safe trip Kiwimade. We used to look after MrPs sisters father in law, none of the family did anything for him. Sad really.

Im liking this Lingo program.. I guess it came out before wordle lol

Have a fab day everyone

I am utterly pooped and plan on doing very little for the rest of the day. Had to bus into Takapuna to drop the rent increase letter into Winz, rent goes up next payday by $18, and my accommodation supplement will rise by $6! But, I asked about getting some help to fund replacement batteries, for the scoot, seeing my carefully tended savings account is being worn down by grocery price rises, and blow me down there is light at the end of the tunnel. Apparently Winz will not fund purchase price of mobility scooters but there is provision for interest free loans to cover ongoing costs. So that is a weight off my mind.

So I gleefully scooted home, and then made two quick trips up our increasingly steep drive with first the rubbish bag, and then towing the recycling bin. First time I've done that but the bones are definitely not liking this weather and walking them up was just too much of a challenge. Good to know the trusty machine can do it for me though! Boy I love that thing. It makes my life so much easier.

So now a coffee and a wee rest then a bit of housework before a friend pops in for a visit. Busy day here in Narrowneck!

That's good news Hunni; you'd think they'd fund mobility scooters or at least contribute something towards the cost of them since they're essential for some.

I've probably overdone things a bit as well, did the dreaded groceries & then got the front lawn done as its supposed to rain later in the week, so now just the back to do whenever I get to it.
Mucking about with another painting. The messy one wasn't too bad so having a bash at something else.

Apparently scooters are considered a safety risk. Hence they don't fund, but once we have one they are just a 'vehicle' and that gets round their definitions.

And seeing mine saves them a packet in not providing home help (gods forbid!) I am quite happy to accept help if it is available to pay for replacement batteries.

Pricey bloody things...

Hmmm...so WINZ can magically transform things then.

You have to wonder what else they might be able to transform...national debt perhaps? The yawning gap between rich & poor, injustice everywhere, and more books for thee 'n me??? Big Grin Big Grin

morning ladies Smile A fine day for us so we can at least dry out a tad. Might even be able to hang washing out.

There's lots of things WINZ can help with as 'loans'. They will even replace essentials like washing machines and fridges and the new owner repays WINZ. I read an opinion piece ages ago where the writer was discussing personal debt and called it The Bank of WINZ. We've had to use their 'loan service' in the past but at least it is interest free and you can make small repayments.

Our friend decided he was too unwell to keep his hospital appointment yesterday so I went to Hamilton anyway to shop. The new part of the expressway is looking great. Coming home they have the speed limit up from 50 to 100 now and I read they hope it have it all done by mid July. What really frustrates me are the people who hoon up on the right hand lane knowing we have to 'merge like a zip' and try to bully their way into the queue further up. The lady behind me flatly refused to let a car in lol for doing that and I must admit I had to laugh. If everyone kept in the left hand lane, traffic would be a lot smoother and everyone would be moving.

MrK has started pruning the grapevine and I suspect he will ask for some help today. He's pretty ruthless with it aiming for quality not quantity. I'm thinking if he cuts some very long pieces I may be able to make a wreath from it. I have a grapevine wreath I use at Christmas and have had it for at least 30 years. It's a big solid thing and much better quality than what you buy today. I could make a smaller one as a gift. Just thoughts at this stage.

I plan to work more on the butterfly at some stage today. It's coming along nicely.

Happy crafting Smile

Morning everyone

Cold but not wet at the mo here

There's a WINZ group on FB and man you can get money for a heck of a lot of things. Phones, computers, tvs fridges washing machines, clothes etc etc.... But there's also a heck of a lot of people who think even they have a conspiracy.. They all say the Haier Washing machines that they supply are all defective.. You see they actually supply the machine, they dont give you the money to go buy one.
And they all reckon that they are poor quality... odd really, when we got our machine, which we paid for ourselves cos I was innocent then and didn't know Winz would supply one lol.. its the same machine that Winz supply and so long as you load them properly I've never had a problem. Too many just dump their clothes in and of course its going to end up unlevel.

Id rather see them help people to get scooters than tvs etc. These days you can watch your tv online so theres no need in a lot of cases.

Rant over lol

I figured out how I hurt my thumb. It was when I took the rubbish to the road. And I carried the trolly back wrong. I didn't want to hold the wet trolly against my good clothes.. Still ridiculously sore today lol.. MrPs hair cut will have to wait. More joys of arthritis I guess lol.. but at least Ill remember Not to do that again lol.

I listed a heap of flurry eyelash type yarn on TM yesterday. Back into order of doing the listings now.

Do any of your ladies play the Microsoft Card challenges? I've been playing them a long time now. And I can proudly say I've been in the top 5 players twice in the last few weeks and there's an average of over half a million people playing daily. Ive enjoyed playing patience since I was a kid. But soo much faster online lol

Have a fab day all

Overcsst with moisture in the air.

Back from gym  last session for at least couple weeks.

DH and I have been semi isolating he has surgery tomorrow bigger incision from melanoma site and lymph node removal to check if it has spread. I have surgery next week so we will both be wal, king wounded. I will be in hospital at least 2 days. Must say not looking forward to it but hopefully the results will benefit my quality of life. At least these days they don't have to slice you open so recovery quicker.

Sewed a tank top style cami from another scrap merino trimmed with some black and white lace so it looks pretty. Pleased with this new pattern, my sewing buddy has borrowed it to make a copy.

Not sure what I will get up to change sheets and vacuum on the agenda.

Have a good day

Good morning on another waterlogged day.  The sun is out, promising a dry spell at long last.

Those scooters are a great invention giving independence to so many including my elderly FIL.

A bit of a catch up day today including sewing up mittens I knitted last night and finding a handy polling booth to vote in our local byelection. Far too wet underfoot for any gardening activity.

Still waiting for the embroidery book I bought off TM, so I can have a study then think about some thread choices  Undecided

Enjoy the day.

That damned cat had a wobbly last night, got in a strop about something unknown so spent a good few hours out in the cold. Quite ruined the night sleepwise for both of us so she is recovering, nose down and snoring deep in the quilts while I contemplate yet again all the good reasons for not having a cat companion.

However, the day is looking travel safe weatherwise so I shall head down the road to the village for coffee and a gossip with friends, though a little later than usual as there is an auction for a small bit of fabric I rather fancy late this morning. If it stays within budget I might just treat myself. Especially seeing I started the ransacking of the 'stuff' last night as I watched the last season of The Affair and have a decent collection of things for the Sallies, a reward for good behaviour!

If it is meant to be, it will happen...

MrK has gone off to have his blood test and buy more timber for the cabinet he is making for the laundry. He's in his happy place around timber, long may it last. We've had so many years with him being unwell. The Furry One though, is sulking as he isn't going with MrK.

All the very best for you and your husband's surgeries, mica. I hope everything goes well and you both get the results you need.

So much for sunshine. When I got up, it was clear and promising. Half an hour later the bloo** fog arrives and it is only just clearing. Washing is out but heaven knows if it will get even half dry. On the plus side, I have windows open and it's not cold. Nice to have fresh air through the house.

If the fog buggars off and the sun stays out I'll spray the weeds around the compost bins and washing line. Those weeds have sprung up out of nowhere.

Which embroidery book did you buy, roma? It is one of life's pleasures to flick through gorgeous inspiring books, I think.

lol OHH, you know you love her! Cats have staff Tongue

I'm running out of the main colour for my butterfly. I knew there was something else I had to buy when in Hamilton yesterday. Oh well, will plod on as best I can and if need be, start planning the other side of the tote bag. Always something to play around with.

KM, the book is "Embroidery Stitches Step-by-Step" .... I hope it puts me on the right track!

We plan to go through the Waikato on Saturday .... the new bypass sure is an evolving road (well it has been for years).

My DH spends ages of his 'me-time' pottering in his 'cave' as well ... his forte is engineering ... not a lot of 'inventions/projects' that are in my interests though ... woodworked products would be great!

Good luck with the surgeries Mica.

Our day is now lovely outside .... long may it last.

Found out what caused the strop, and glad I put her outside last night. Her dinners - plural - did not get very far down the guts it seems and reappeared on my front door mat. Still, much easier to sort out there than on my beloved antique oriental rug inside. Even feeding her several tiny meals doesn't always mean her IBS doesn't play up, but it certainly has reduced the episodes like this one, so I feel less guilty now about putting her out in the cold until it passed.

And she seems none the worse for it, sleeping there in the sunny patch on the aforementioned beloved rug!

Good luck for both your surgeries Mica. I hope people can pop in and help you out if needed.

Ohh sounds like the Queen needs her sleep.. Cat puke is nasty lol... At least she used the cheaper rug.

The other day Madam Missy hassled me for some of the ham in my sandwich. Today I very generously cut some off the last slice for her and have put it down for her but she has turned her Royal nose up at it. Moody tart lol

Been up to see MrP.. they only have 1 Covid case, and its at the opposite end to where MrP is. So the only reason they could get it is if it gets through on the staff. ''

Have made an appointment to take Bobbie back to the Optometrist on Friday, then when I take her back Ill have my regular visit with MrP.. I didn't see Bobbie today, was in her room, Possibly feeling sorry for herself cos she's such a social butterfly being locked in the wing is hard for her.

Ohh and talking about butterfly's I now have 3 caterpillars inside again. They eat a heck of alot of leaves. But Im glad they are having a chance and becoming butterfly's

That's pretty good with the card challenge Popeye - well done. I'm addicted to Patience on the computer or as Americans call it, Solitaire. I daren't try anything else or I'll get hooked! Smile

Hope the surgeries go well, Mica.

Having cleaned up my share of cat spew I don't envy you Hunni - not fun.

It started out nice here today so grabbed the chance & went hunting.
I'd thought perhaps of super hero figurines for the wee boys but they have some already so instead found some small-ish dinosaurs for them which should go down well; I'd already got them some of those magnetic building tiles each, plus a pair of PJ's & a book each so that's them done now. And I got myself a pair of jeans - apparently bell bottoms/flares are back in fashion so they may be all you can get at some point if they catch on & I'm never wearing the damned things again.

Absolutely knackered by the time I came home & the dog was not pleased - I'd been away most of the morning but now we've been for the walk it appears I'm forgiven.

Its all clouded over out there - it was warm earlier but getting colder now & threatening rain.

It was a lovely day out, and my first blue lace primrose is open. It is a treasure. Today my friend and barista, Sunil, at my favourite cafe, presented me with a small green post it note with my name written in Nepali script. It is such a gorgeous looking piece of art - sort of flowy and decorative, I am very tempted to embroider it onto one of my denims. Apparently he is practicising his home script so he can put short forms of it on the coffees of his favourite customers, but as I have tea, he decided to just gift me mine instead.

He is a very lovely young man in all the best ways. Another gem in my life, just like my little blue flower.

awww OHH, what a sweetheart your barista is. Lilith is right, the small things can make all the difference. And yesss... embroider it on your denim. It would look amazing. I could just imagine his face when he sees you wearing it Smile

Yesterday we had a short window of sunshine once the fog lifted and things semi dried out so I was able to spray the weeds around the compost bins and washing line. I also have an invasive plant I have been trying to get rid of so that got a squirt of spray too.

The other day I sold some worm wee Big Grin A lady on our local gardening page was wanting to buy some locally and asked if she could be a 'regular' customer. Sold it for more than milk lol.
