I got the best news when I arrived at the home today.

They had just told Bobbie and MrP that she could move into the room that shares the en-suite with MrP.. So it was a quick kiss hello for MrP and I helped move her over.. and had the honour of putting her name on her door... Soo pleased for them , they keep an eye on each other.

And to top it off they had MrPs fave lunch, sausages as in two for him lol.. mashed tattie and cabbage and silver beet cooked together. First time I've seen him clean the plate.

So we are all Happy. And its nice to know that the Area Manager listens. It wasn't the manager that told them either.. She doesn't seem to talk to my two July Babies.

Bobbie pointed out that the mirror in the bathroom was actually a cupboard too so we have put MrPs stuff on the top shelf. Bobbie can have the lower two.

I have a little corner shelf that MrP made years ago that I will clean up and put that in the vacant corner of the bathroom. I stopped at the oppy ( It was in the Number 1 spot of the top 5 oppies in NZ yay) And got a nice heavy frosted glass vase. And Ill try and find some nice fake flowers. To brighten up the plain bathroom... For me to buy fake flowers is something that would be making my mother turn in her grave.. I dont like them at all. And gladly gave hers away when she died lol.
But they will brighten the bathroom a little and where I sit I wont see them..

Ohhh I just thought lol Ill be able to use their toilet now. Wont have to wander down the hall lol.

I like Hell's Grannies too lol... Even tho Im not one lol.

Made a run for it in between showers & avoided the rain - a very quick trip to the library. Came home & dog needed out so once I'd wiped the wet footprints off the floor, I told her that was it for the day but I know damn well it won't be. It always manages to rain when I've just done the floors.

Mucking about with a slightly different painting & doing it deliberately messy so will see how it goes - so far, so good.

Talking about jackets I see Tom Cruise is wearing the flying jacket he wore way back when the first Top Gun was filmed in this 2022 remake - little bit of trivia
Well our new Ukrainian kiwis are settling in really well - their stuff has been here for nearly 3 years so the kids have out grown their bikes etc -the first thing they wanted to do was ride along the beachfront cycleway which they had been looking at online before the war - they just couldnÔÇÖt get into MIQ so were unable to join their Dad - then of course when they got the OK he went back to Ukraine to move them here and the war happened .They speak really good English Mum has spent the last two years ensuring they know plenty about their new home - Robie took them past their school on the way to their house and they wanted to go in - he said they are very jumpy - a controlled railway crossing on the way home from the airport had the kids diving for cover .Now she is here her parents can come - bureaucracy gone mad - they had a big bread factory - not sure if they will be allowed to work - but none of them will be on the benefit .Hopefully he will be here in a month but it might be a while before he can work - even though he is on salary and is still getting paid she is uncomfortable with that so she will become the PaknSave baker .No doubt there will be problems but at least the kids are prepared and they have plenty of support because he is such a good bloke
Just as well there is only me to worry about donÔÇÖt have a clue whatÔÇÖs on the menu for dinner

I didn't feel like cooking so made a couple of sandwiches. Cafe style luxury concoctions with salad and avocado and smoked salmon. So good. So healthy!!

morning ladies Smile  More rain here this morning so another guilt free embroidery day.

Awesome for MrP and Bobby, popeye to have each other's company and lovely for Bobby to have a warmer room.  Now they can really plot some mischief.  And congratulations on your ranking in the card tournament. I play those card games too but not in tournaments.  I'm working my way through the 'Star' club and every now and then play a few hands.

That's fantastic news, Jan.  I guess it will take a while for the Ukrainian family to settle but I'm sure they will be made to feel very welcome.

There's a book for teens called Gangsta Grannies... thought of you and your friends OHH Tongue

Yesterday I embroidered a bit more of the wing.  There's a lot of sewing that is hidden, like the padding under the satin stitch so it's taking some time.  For a few hours stitching, it looks like I have done buggar all.

My tiny clematis is slowly growing and has five leaves now.  I've started feeding a weak fertiliser solution once a week and it won't be long before it will need a chopstick to climb.  The begonia leaves I have in water to root are doing OK.  One has roots and the others are muddling along.  But of course, I picked them at the wrong time when they were trying to be dormant so it will be spring at least before anything happens there.

The bin man is here, the Furry One is busy telling him off for 'stealing' our stuff.    And there goes another six pieces of concrete fill Tongue  Only 20 to go lol.

Happy crafting Smile

Morning everyone

Chilly again but the sun is trying to shine.

Great news re the Ukrainian family Jan. Having the kids will open their world to others.

Im off to meet "Mouse" this morning.. A sphinx Cat. Im guessing she looked like a mouse when Born lol... She's had a bath and all ready to meet me. I must look up and see why they have to be bathed... I dont want to look like a total idiot who knows nothing about them lol.

Yeah Im soo pleased things have happened at the home. I guess it just took someone to hang in there and get passed the Complaining doesn't make any difference stage. I guess with having the Ministry of Health and DHB on their backs meant they had to pull their socks up. Since it is them that do the licencing for them to actually run.. I think the biggest problem is the local manager see it as running a business. You dont see her interacting with the clients, or offering a smile.

Bobbie wants to come shopping with me on Thursday, but she's not going to like having to isolate for 3 days in her room once home. She's such a social butterfly. I tell her that tomorrow. But she does need some more clothes that's for sure .

I didn't paint yesterday.. The daily event was 30 games long lol.

Have a fab day everyone

Yay! The stitched denim contagion spreads, lol! They are a very useful part of the wardrobe though, go with anything, and are delightfully windproof for scootering I have discovered!

Definitely go for recycled though. That is half the fun of them...

Good morning all.

SO wet underfoot after rain that caused plenty of flooding yesterday ... right on school pick up time ... I observed lots of kids happily sploshing through the water (footwear and all) that was lapping over the footpath - the road a river! The fire-engines were in big demand sorting out flood-related problems! Sun now coming out.

Some good news stories in here ... re the Ukrainian family and Mr P/Bobbie.

Google has shown some pretty cool denim jacket 'modifications' ... particularly like the embroidery enhanced ones  Smile

Better get moving, dog sitting at my feet after not much outside time yesterday.

Enjoy the day.

Am going out for lunch shortly so thought I would pop in for a quick visit. Postie Plus have denim jackets at a reasonable price, probably about the same you would pay at the op shop (well the more savvy ones anyway). I've been thinking for a while about doing some heavy embroidery on a denim jacket and have been scouting about for months for one. I've seen some gorgeous jackets embroidered in the embroidery group I belong too. Only problem is, what to embroider? lol

I started on the cuff of a denim shirt, just to get my confidence up. Few rows of running stitch, the odd simple daisy, then I just got carried away!

Funny how that happens.

I am tempted by outrageous florals, but I just do not have the skills. I am having fun though with my patches and my overstitching. And that's all that matters.

Good news about the Ukrainian family Jan, & Popeye also about the home finally making some needed changes.

Dreaded shopping this morning - wasn't happy to see that more changes have been made & I couldn't find the veg hot dogs which I like. Eventually asked an assistant who showed me where they are now - at the other end of the blardy shop. Naturally.

A woman asked me do I know where they've put the marmite these days - I hope I directed her to the right aisle & they've not moved it again.
Never mind, have got plenty done today & its lovely outside - too wet still for anything in the garden but around 20 degrees which is much appreciated after the rain & miserable cold.

morning ladies Smile More wet weather on the cards, wish I had mown the lawn yesterday now.

I also hate it when they change supermarkets around. Our local NW had big changes including moving aisles about but the worst thing was the polished concrete floor. I slipped on it and was told I needed to wear 'grippy' shoes by the check out woman. Excuse me! I should be able to wear a pair of jandals into a shop in the middle of summer. Was not impressed at all so very rarely visit our local supermarket.

Yesterday I finished embroidering a large spot on the butterfly's wing and started the one beside it. There is still a long way to go.

The sun's trying to come out, I maybe able to mow the wet lawn shortly. And the new grass is ready for it's first mow too.

Morning everyone

Another mixed bag here too weather wise.

Ohh I totally agree about when they change the supermarket around. I hate it. On my day out in April I went into a different pak n save and couldn't find a dam thing. I hate the smooth floors too and Im always getting shocks off the shelves and freezers too.

I spent 2 hours yesterday getting to know "Mouse" and her sister Lilly who is a maincoon. Probably spelt wrong lol.. Just confirmed it more for me that one day I will have a sphynx cat. Lilly is a huge longhaired ginger cat with white under her chin. She made Mouse look like a mouse in comparison. And to top it off their Mum knew the walker lady in the rest home. The Lady that always hugged me. She got moved into a more secure unit as she was starting to hit people. I saw her smack one of the carers one day and it wasn't gentle.

Off to see the July babies this morning and take the shelf for their bathroom up. I woke up at 4am in nasty pain and didnt think Id be going anywhere cos I could barely walk to the bathroom and back. But meds have worked well enough. I dont like to take an oxy if I have to drive. So will take one when I get home.

Since Im taking Bobbie clothes shopping tomorrow Ill be having a look for a denim Jacket. Ive always loved denim but dont wear jeans. I had a pair of dungarees when I was about 11-12, had a red rose embroidered on the bib and I wore those out.

A friend in Gisborne has connected with a friend of hers in Katikati who has a vintage VW. She is going to visit and take me for a ride in her car. Its another thing on my bucket list.

The other thing is to touch a snake. I will have to ring the zoo about that one I imagine tho lol.

Have a fab day all

I think I would rather have a Maine Coon than the bald rex anyday, and I am a total cat worshipper. But I have had a number of rex varieties over the years and only one was a calm stable personality, the rest were neurotic attention seeking bossy britches. Including the beast currently at my deck door shrieking her silly head off because she wants in to berate me loudly and at length about the dreadful cruelty I have inflicted upon her by giving her her least favourite breakfast food. Give me a massive furbaby Coon any day, lol - I have always wanted one of those!

One thing though about the naked cat, it would be fun dressing it up! A chance to get even for all the years of being bullied into submission by these lovely ratbags?

Good morning.

Sun just coming out, after a few more showers earlier.

A few errands to go out for but otherwise the day probably dictated by the weather ... housework probably should be attended to!

For those who do embroidery work, I'm guessing that all brands are not created equal when it comes to thread (or is it floss, lol)  ... I have left over DMC thread that I've had for years (still perfectly ok) but I see there are lots of brands out there these days. What other brands are more or less equal to the DMC brand, so I can add a few more colours? Or is it best to stick with DMC? I see Spotlight has that. I took the plunge and have bought an embroidery stitch book off TM ... first step towards the new pastime (which I will need to find/make time for, lol).

KM, we will probably not pass on through until next week now.

Righto, better get a move on now my coffee is finished.

Enjoy the day.

There was someone on TM P and A years ago who used to post about her Sphynx cats, the photos were lovely, very photogenic cats! But I seem to remember they were quite hard work in terms of their care ... needing regular baths was one thing.

Hi OHH and Popeye,
I have had Siamese and Rex cats for over fifty years  Started with Siamese and Devon, quie a different look to the Sph
ynx, then moved to Cornish Rex the curly coated Sphynx. Would not say that to the breeder!!!
Have had Cornish for about 30 years. They are less maintenance than the Sphynx, but just as crazy.
My latest one, Fred, is a bit of a nightmare, or it might be that I had forgotten how crazy a kitten can be.
Hope you get the bucket list cat eventually.
Love reading this thread you are all extremely talented.
