You can never have enough...
woahhh that's big, roma. I read online they don't like the cold and will die off over winter.

I'm doing the happy dance here. This morning when I looked, no clematis germination. MrK looked at morning tea time and asked if I had used compost for the seeds as it looked like I had a weed. Nope, proper seed raising mix and it's my one and only lonely seedling Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Now to nurture it along Big Grin

Yes KM, sometimes we do need the winter cold, if only to to kill off the pests!

Good luck with the clematis 'baby'. Which clematis is it (sorry if you've already said)?

They are big buggers, and I suspect they are into my pot of silverbeet. The leaves look more like lace than leaf...

So I am going to cut them all off, and compost the lot.

When I replant I shall spray the seedlings...

Its about to tip down here at any minute so grabbed washing & the tray of tomatoes which were ripening in the bit of sun (which was out there before the clouds rolled in) & found a few more just changing colour so grabbed them as well.

I hope the rain holds off another half hour; long enough for all kids to get home from school without having a shower on the way. We had some very heavy rain during the night so might be in for more of the same.

Goodness! Have I beaten you early risers to the kettle this morning? Surely not, lol!

Feeling extra rich this morning with that Winter Energy Payment boost, thank you Government!

morning ladies Smile A real pea souper this morning. Hopefully the fog will go quickly.

lol OHH, you sure did! I slept in this morning. Probably as I had a restless night tussling for my spot in the bed with the Furry One. He's decided that the middle of my side of the bed is just perfect for him. Ummm, that's a very firm no from me.

Thanks for all the tips on how to get rid of the garden sprays Smile It's pointed me in the right direction. Will be good to have them gone.

Roma, the clematis is our native one, the beautiful white clematis you see in the bush. It needs to have a cool spot for it's roots so I've moved it from the dining room windowsill to a cooler spot where hopefully it will do well.

This morning I'm going into town to pick some timber up for MrK. He's building a cabinet for the laundry to give us a bit more storage. He's drawn his plan and dropped it in to the hardware place where they have cut the timber to his measurements. All I have to do is pick it up and pay for it. Tongue It will have a draw above a cupboard with a shelf inside the cupboard. We have some old handles which will be perfect for it. Amazing what MrK has stashed away. And our daughter will take the small table and wooden box I currently use when they visit in July.

I embroidered for a bit yesterday and it felt good to have a needle back in my hands. I have stitched where I unpicked and am working back around the beak and under the eye. It's certainly a work in progress lol.

Happy crafting Smile

Good morning.

Nice, bright and fresh looking out there this morning after a brief shower during the night.

Yes OHH, a welcome winter super boost, even if it went into DH's account!

A pretty wee clematis KM ... hopefully it performs for you.

Housework calling today plus planting out those seedlings if no caterpillars found. I picked off a couple of tiny ones yesterday with gd finding one with her 2.5 yo eyes when it fell off the plant!

Have a good day all.

Heavy rain and brisk breeze feels like winter have cracked out the Allbirds and merino socks.

Made up another sewing kit for sewing weekend a dress for me I ,Iive in hope that I will have somewhere to wear it.

Got a bit of knitting done last night might get it finished tonight Big Grin

Those worms/larvae? Sound like big hungry bliters hopefully the cooler weather will see them off.

K9s are hunkered down not asking for a walk so we will wait until later today when it fines up not too long to wait after looking at the rain radar.

Off to recycle polystyrene packing that came with new crock pot who knew you can't put it in wheelie bin and minimum charge at one place was $52!!!!! So much for encouraging house holds with small bits to dispose of responsibly. Anyway a trip out to Lower Hutt this am and knowing my DH he will want to look at some plant placesI  better take a warm coat.

Have a good day

Morning everyone

Tis spitting at the mo but we had thunder sometime through the night.

Did you wet the bed OHH? lol.

Our Furr babies know how to get the best spot. Missy sleeps between my knees, so has my legs as her heaters all night. And if that's not good enough she sleeps on my side, wrapped in my arm, head over the arm with her butt in my hand.. Never mind if I my hand gets cold lol.

Housework for me today. Have an inspection on Friday. So just sprucing things up a bit. Will do the floors today. And make sure the bench and hobb is sparkling on Thursday. Takes far less work without MrP making his mess in the lounge that's for sure. And since I dont often go in the other 3 bedrooms I only need to go get dead bodies off the floors. Crickets, they seem to love coming indoors.

I lost my last monarch caterpillar yesterday. This huge praying mantis had him in his jaws, so I committed murder and taught him a lesson.

I was talking to my friend who owns the big nursery here yesterday. Telling her about the non flowering geranium. She said there are several varieties that smell rather than flower. And told me to break a leaf off, roll it a little and see if it has a scent. She mentioned peppermint, lemon and a few others. It was dark by the time I remembered last night so will pop out this morning.

Hows this for Dumb... I was moving the buttons on a shirt for MrP while I was visiting, and busy talking with him and Bobbie and I cut off a button Id just moved lol... But I got them done. and My fingers are moving better now.

Have a fab day all

It was the second night popeye - yesterday's being the first and a very disturbed night. I always find after one of those I get blessed with a solid good one and wake early and well rested, so look forward to them! Hate the other ones though, just cannot get comfy, cannot shut the brain up, cannot get the cat to sleep somewhere that doesn't annoy... Grumpy mornings!

Off to Takapuna today for the eye test, and am considering indulging in a new euro sized pillow. They are such good back rests for winter lazies when it's cold and I have a good book. Might have a wee look around in Farmers or Bed Bath. One or t'other is bound to have a sale on...

After all, if I am going to the mall I might as well spoil myself!

Thought I'd got away with getting the dreaded groceries in between showers but came out to see that, no, mother nature had decided on a wee shower while I was in the supermarket. Lucky i have an old towelling cloth in a pannier bag so was able to dry the bike off before loading it up.

Speaking of mother nature, I just love the ad with the larger not so young woman going 'No!' & charging off down the road, grabbing an axe from someone about to chop down something,& planting it in a gardener's garden & making it flower; she's all dressed in green, & is the perfect personification of a mother nature imo. I think the ad is for meridian.

In the process of making a birthday card for youngest grandson (his 21st) & have been searching for the font I want to use; finally found almost it so hope I don't muck it up when I come to do it - it took three attempts before I was happy with the drawing on it.

Am home at last. Thought while I was out and about I might as well buy the groceries and MrK's birthday pressie. Am really struggling to stay on budget and will have to revamp it. The winter energy payment went in with MrK's super and was gratefully received. I've already put it on this months power bill.

I bought MrK a diary type book where he can record his life stories for his birthday. We already have my sister-in-law's life story as she wrote it over the last few months of her life. And we have written life stories from some of his family dating back to the 1800's. I thought MrK might like to continue the 'tradition' and it can be added to the family history.

Time to do the dishes and put away the groceries.

Lilith I love that ad.

She has the right "Tude" and she Rules and Rocks !!!

What a wonderful idea Kiwimade re the family stories.. I can already imagine Cat's, I love the Comments she posts about things the Kids have said.

MrP was soo far off his face this morning that I rang the office and asked for a list of the medications he is taking.. They are giving him Oxy-norm for his head, but his system sure isn't used to it so he's had high as a kite. Needs a bit of juggling. I have always been in control of his medications as I see how things affect him, so we need to have a look. They are giving him questionnaire's etc.. Certainly trying to make it look like they are offering him everything they have even entertainment wise. Just a pity its taken nearly a year to get around to it.

He is also starting to get a little of the paranoia back so I have to watch that as well.

My work is never done there.

Housework is done so Im going to paint for a while

It is the day for outings all round! My first bus trip for months went well, but boy am I fumfookled. Eye exam was fine, I love half price, lol. Eyesight is stable, but the right eye needs .25 of a power boost - but contacts don't come in that, and going up a .5 would be too powerful. Though I do like the sound of too powerful... might be headache material! So I can invest safely in new contacts, and I got my big euro pillow inner. Was interesting getting that home on the scoot with the groceries, but we got here safe'n sound.

Tg4 panadol. Might just make another coffee though, I have earned it!

Glad it isn't just me who appreciates that ad, Popeye; I don't often like ads but that one takes some beating. Smile

morning ladies Smile  So much for the rain, it's another stunning day here.

I also love that nature advert, I think it's the song, Respect.  I've always loved that song and Aretha Franklin.

OHH, I find a coffee and panadol do the trick for headaches.  I think the caffeine works with the panadol and gives that extra 'boost'.

Yep, popeye, I can just imagine the stories our daughter could tell.  Her little posts 'The Things The Kids Say' on FB has us laughing as well.  My favourite so far is the one where our grandson doesn't want to go to school as he his head was already full of knowledge.  When told there was always room for more knowledge, he said, nope, my head will explode.  Daughter's response: "That's a risk I am willing to take!"  He's only five so his school years are going to be interesting that's for sure.  Daughter was not impressed when I told her only 13 years of school to go lol.

Today I have the rest of the weeds I raked and pulled from the main road to bin (along with some more concrete fill Tongue)  I bought some flowers for pots and  red bok choy and canon ball cabbages for MrK' to plant.  We're already eating the first lot of bok choy from the garden and it's soooo good.  MrK said the cabbages will be ready next week.  The broad beans didn't take even though the seeds weren't old so MrK is trying again with new seeds.  My clematis seedling is powering along, I think it likes it's new spot.  Can't believe out of all the seeds only one germinated.

All going to plan, I should be able to spend some time on my embroidery today.  Might even take it outside and stitch in the sun.

Time to get moving.  Washing machine has beeped, a pretty good hint it has finished and I can see the bottom of my coffee cup.

happy crafting Smile

I wouldn't give up on the others just yet. Some seeds are just very slow. My broad beans too were a bit variable, but a couple of plants are well on the way now as are the bargain bin brassicas. Have to see what they are when they get a bit bigger. But I need to get more silverbeet, those plants are a write off...

Nippy this morning barmy 10 at moment.

DD turned up with chocolat cake in the morning yesterday so our morning plans put on hold for the afternoon.

Finally got to Mitre10 for potting mix DH is rejuvenating a planter bix for DD he maintains their garden.

Tried several places to dispose of the 2 bits of polystyrene nowhere in Wgtn will take it. Seems it goes to land fill which is a bummer. Going to check if Palmerston North has somewhere as go there a couple of times a month.

Food hunting this morning then pack up for sewing weekend got to keep my babies safe in transit.

Hope those seeds germinate.

Have a good day

Morning everyone

Going to be a stunner today.. but I have broken out the full length sleeved cardy this morning.

Kiwimade I read your post to MrP last night and then my comment about Cats conversations and the One about your Grandson having a fill brain was the one I told him I loved.. There's been many fun ones, but perhaps that one that needs to be told to each years teachers for the next 13 years lol As a Challenge to the teachers lol.

Off to see MrP this morning, no doubt they will have the heaters on full boor... I have to wear a summer top and a cardy so I can strip off a layer.

I did some painting yesterday and now have a sore shoulder.. So I had an attack of the miserable's.. Every thing I do and love makes me hurt and I am quite over it... but I also know I have to Use it or lose it.. Just sick of the pain med troubles too... Rant over.

I should finish it today and then Ill frame it and take it up to MrP for Christmas, since he is being Santa up there this year we will turn his room into Santa's grotto... his beard is growing well for the job

Ohh The geranium Saga. I think I said my friend told me some dont flower and have scent.. And yes the mystery smells like peppermint... So its going to be put back behind the yukka, and Ill either ask the neighbour if I can pinch a bit of his dark pink one I can see over the fence or Ill take a bit off the white one and it can have the pot.

Have a fab day everyone

All that wandering around yesterday has left its mark on me too popeye, so we can whinge and moan together. But we can't stop just because it makes us hurt, not in our natures I suspect. I will have to loosen up a bit before my apptmt with my GP or else she will nag me about surgery again instead of just renewing the scripts, and I can do without any more people getting on my case. Us bossy people hate being bossed, lol...
