You can never have enough...
Morning everyone

Another cool start and I could have stayed in bed. But I want to make the most of the beautiful day and tidy the edges and wash the concrete paths etc down to get rid of the grass.

I re-boiled the jam last night and its a better set. MrP doesn't like running jam. And I wanted to get that done to leave the day free for outside.
Ill use the wheelie bin to keep the cord on.. Method in my madness lol.

Yeah Arthritis sucks. If I could go back and tell myself one thing when I was a kid was to not make my joints do anything they really shouldn't lol

The sun is around the back a little and the birds are loving the cut grass.. wont be long and nest building time will happen I guess.

MrP told me to sell his fishing gear and try and buy a new lawnmower.. I wont argue on that score.. so Ill do photos of it all later and decide if Ill FB it or TM it. I have 25% off success fees today.

My hands are cold the fingers are'nt working fully yet lol.

Have a fab day all..

Well that was a surprise. The weeds I sprayed along the main road were realllllly dead and just came out with a gentle pull. The ground was too hard to dig and I wasn't expecting them to come out roots and all. The weeds have also loosened the soil for me. Big Grin So the main road looks a lot tidier (you might even notice when zipping by roma lol). I have a pile of dead weeds to get rid of but that's ok. Bins and compost are full again and too dusty to mulch. I have one hydrangea left to prune and will do that tomorrow. But the fuchsias and one hydrangea are pruned and mulched. This hydrangea has split itself into four which has inspired me with another idea. But this idea will be put into action over winter. I still plan to plant hydrangeas along the main road and these hopefully will transplant and give me a head start. And of course one thing leads to another...

The dog is in the dogbox - took her for an early walk this morning & an older woman with a walker frame was taking her dog past on the other side of the street, not sure what passed between them but my dog was keen to murder the other one so had to grab her till they'd got past. Was just about to say 'good dog' when she suddenly took off dragging me with her to the other side of the street., - not a happy camper but grabbed her & held on till they'd got well down the street. She can be unpredictable with other dogs & clearly didn't like the one going past - the joys of having a former rescue dog!
On the plus side, she's been extremely, painfully good since - although I did catch her opening a door I'd left slightly ajar on her hind legs & using her teeth to open it further so she could get through.
Pruned back the sage bush under the clothesline earlier & pulled out a few weeds trying to hide underneath it.
Great granddaughter called in yesterday & was very pleased with her birthday loot, the board book (Madeleine) & the fish for the bath & the little bubble wand thingy went down well; she's not doing badly for a two year old. Smile

I want a bubble wand. I might buy myself one after this weeks eye exam. As a reward for good behaviour. Then I will sit in the courtyard and blow bubbles and see how long it takes for anyone to notice...

morning ladies Smile  I was up bright and early to see the planets and the meteors.  Was not disappointed and was worth the cold.

Ahhhh the fickleness of two year olds lol.  Don't we love them Heart  Great choice of pressies too, no wonder there was no sharing lol.

The other day I thought I could some grass germinating.  Just out of the corner of my eye.  And of course when I looked properly, I couldn't find it.  Yesterday though, there is a green sheen where the new bit of lawn will be.  Just as well as the birds were munching their way through the seed even though it had (or supposed to have) bird repellent on it.  Can't say the same for my clematis seeds, nothing, nada.  Am debating whether to turf them out or hang on until spring.

What a gorgeous sunrise we're having.  A wee bit of mist on the ground, the sun coming through, stunning stuff.  It doesn't take much to make me happy.

Some stitching today I hope.  I think I need to 'book in' some time with it.

I woke up to such a lovely surprise! An email from Perth wishing me a Happy Mothers Day - which would be the very first time since my kid was carefully coached by my Mum into that duty as a teeny... I am assuming that means at last she is understanding the mothering thing. Or maybe she has forgiven me for all my crimes against child. It is such a fraught relationship mother/daughter, specially undiluted by siblings.

They have all had covid, my daughter has four jabs and had access to the best antivirals because of her MS and so her covid was mild, but she and the two youngsters are still isolating, as is her husband away at a mining camp also going through a positive test, doing it on his own. The challenges of being a young family with all those dreams and responsibilities, makes my small quiet life look so much easier in comparison.

I do envy them their pool though. But not the climate that makes that a necessity, rather than a luxury...

Morning Everyone

Wow I slept in badly lol... I have to be honest I dont get up as early as I used to but I also dont like getting up so late that I feel like Ive lost part of the day.

Tis certainly getting cooler now.

Yesterday I finished the edges and the lawn looks terrible but at least its down. The birds are pinching the grass so that has to be a good thing.. Only a tonne to go lol.

I took photos of MrPs fishing gear and will list it, Im still not sure where tho. Im also considering since he is getting rid of something that hen loves that I should be doing the same. but I will need some appraisals on some jewellery.. Some of it is very old, and was given to me for my future. Im just not sure if its the future now or later lol.

Ive also decided that I will list some of my wool stash. the real wool not the acrylic.

I need to nip up the road this morning so had better get things sorted.

Have an awesome Mothers day everyone..

And guess who forgot it was Mothers Day lol... yep, me lol.  Daughter has phoned to say happy Mum's day and we had a good chat.  We often speak over the phone and solve the world's woes.  Our grandson was in trouble with the principle at school (again) lol but nothing too serious.  It seems we are in for interesting times with this one and school.  And he's only five.  Mother/daughter relationships can be tricky at times and more than once I have had to bite my tongue and I'm sure our daughter has had to do the same with me.  But we muddle on.

MrK is making chicken soup from the left over chook roast. I must admit he makes awesome soup.  The Furry One is pretending to be asleep under MrK's chair while he separates the meat from the bones and living in hope something yummy will fall on the floor.  I'm sure something will.

Happy Mothers Day Smile

Yes Hunni, often its only when we become parents ourselves that it finally, albeit gradually dawns on us what our mothers were as they were,& we slowly come to some sort of an understanding of them. Smile

I'm so glad it wasn't just me who forgot it was Mother's day, KM - I remembered yesterday but only remembered today when DIL sent a message!

Happy Mother's Day to all Mothers and grandmothers; you never stop being a Mother, do you?
I only remembered it was Mother's Day (nobody else around me remembered, it seems), because I've been waiting for a week to get into the choc and caramel Ben and Jerry's icecream, I bought myself for Mother's day Smile

I made myself a clutch of banana cakes in my big sized muffin pan a few days ago, and froze the ones I didn't give away. I wish I had thought of buying some ice cream to go with one, but the jelly and yoghurt will just have to suffice!

I did discover Pam's Salted Caramel ice cream though, when I did the last big shop. Thing is, the pack is just too easy to take out of the freezer and into the lounge.

With spoon.

Must. Not. Get. It. Again.

I wasn't expecting to see anyone today since both sweetie darling & DIL are usually the ones who come over & they've both got covid so was very surprised to find a large bouquet on the front porch earlier. Really thoughtful of them, & then eldest granddaughter rang later on too. Smile
I had to have two dark Tim Tams in honour of mother's day.

morning ladies Smile  Foggy this morning and we are expecting rain.  No complaints here but I am hoping our friends have their roof back on before the rain hits.  They have had a perfect run weather wise to get the job done.

How lovely to have flowers delivered on Mothers Day, Lilith Heart

Omg yummm We've had that salted caramel ice cream lol and I stopped buying it because we did the same thing.  Spoons + ice cream + lounge = one very empty tub.  We haven't tried any Ben & Jerrys ice cream yet Tongue  I did make some custard (proper custard, not the powdered stuff) and we drowned a very dry chocolate cake with it and some cream for dessert.  Certainly hit the spot Big Grin

The pruning is done and mulched, only the roses to go in July and some of those won't need pruning as  they were  pruned when moved. The two Graeme Thomas roses given to me in a really bad way seem to have survived so far.  I resprayed the aggies again, let's see if that does the trick. I also found some grass seed in the garden shed but we weren't sure how old it was so MrK said just scatter it anywhere on the lawn.  And I have to work out how to safely get rid of some old sprays we no longer use.

Today my plan is to catch up with my falcon embroidery and redo where I unpicked.  The stitches were lying the wrong direction.  At this rate it won't be finished for ages lol.  Once the head is done it will be pretty straight forward though.

Happy crafting Smile

Morning everyone

Dark and Dull here. It will rain by lunchtime I think... I've put the singlet on at night for an extra layer.. Here comes Winter for sure lol.
My hands are cold this morning which isn't helping the pain by any means.. I actually had to stop texting yesterday my hands were aching soo much. I assume its the vibration from the weed eater.. they haven't been this sore before. So the fingerless gloves have come out and Ill wear my crochet wrist warmers at night. Wont be long and Ill be taking a Hot hot water bottle to bed instead of a fridge cold one lol

I understand now why my grandmother always wore gloves... wasn't just the "Done" thing I think it was to help her arthritis too. Arghhh aging lol... Still in our family thats a good thing lol

I bit the bullet and put my crepe wool on Fb later yesterday.. And have had one sale, haven't checked yet this morning. so have started my lawn mower fund lol. I hope the vibration wont be too much of a problem, or that I will get used to it.. I really miss mowing the lawns.

Off to see MrP this morning. Am taking the shirt I was meant to move the buttons on, and couldn't last night. So ill sit and do them while I visit. Kind of spending time like we would at home.

Im not a huge ice cream fan.. Which is kind of odd in our family.. The only time I recall eating big amounts was in the early 80s when there was a brand called New American. And they did a chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips and chocolate coated peanuts in it. Man it was good.. I think I got some ice cream when my friend visited last year but haven't had any since. MrP on the other hand could eat buckets full lol I do like trumpets occasionally tho.

Have a fab day all

Wind and rain here not cold yet

Sewed up dress toile yesterday and reasonable pleased with it, just got to figure out what I will wear with it might have to make a long maxi cardi to go with it.

Plugging along with my scarf while sitting watching TV after dinner.

Tidy up mode this morning and medical appt this afternoon so probably no sewing today

Fingers crossed the aggies sub it this time KM

KM Regarding waste chemicals alot of transfer stations have facilities, your local council should be able to tell you where.
I only know about agrichem programme AgRecovery. Your local rural retailer might be able to help too PGGW or Farmsource

Coffee finished must move

That cup of tea is nice on the fingers this morning! I woke up with a very cold nose, lol, it might be time to close all the windows in the evening, instead of just the nearest ones! Of course the weather is changing, I should have known it would as soon as I made an appointment for an eye test that requires a bus trip. And an umbrella. Blasted things are a pain to manage with a stick in the other hand, still, it will be good to see if it is my imagination or if it really is time for 'stronger' contact lenses. And half price Gold Card discount at Specsavers closes the deal...

Good morning.

Overcast and cool this morning ... a big change from a lovely Mother's Day yesterday. Rain hoped for this evening (specially with a school pick up to get through first)!

Yes, there will be ways of having your chemicals disposed of KM ... I remember there was a yearly collection point day you could take farm chemicals to. There will be something for urban waste chemicals as well.

My DIL asked me to knit her some mittens or gloves for the cooler mornings when she walks which I have started. It's been a while since I last knitted some! Warm hands make all the difference!

The caterpillars I've been struggling with in the garden are Tropical Army Worms (a clever friend id'd). Goodness knows why they are 'worms' ... anything but, the biggest fat ones are probably 4cm  Angry   My seedlings are still sitting in their pots until I know I have got as many as I can .... hopefully this cooler day will finish them off.

Enjoy the day all.
