grasshoppers?

in the last ten years i have noticed grasshoppers becoming less frequently seen.
we live on the fringe so paddocks behind us, grassy paddocks. ideal grasshopper habitat.
ive seen but one this summer and it was itty bitty.
perhaps im not spending as much time slithering around in the grass as i once did

jump grasshopper bounce
bending not breaking blades green
spring up to the sky.

Well, there are two under my bed. One under the chest at the foot and I think there's one in the bathroom.

You need a cat to bring you a few...

They well might be. Noisy little buggers. So I googled grasshoppers and find pictures of the things I call katydids. So then I googled katydids and now I know the difference.

Thank you magoo for that little biology lesson.
