You can never have enough...
Good morning.

We have a lovely mild and sunny day so far, though there were a few sun showers while in the park before for morning dog walk. Apparently a few showers during the day, a neighbour also at the park with her dog told me. Washing on the rack again!

Pleased you won the boots OHH ... you will look forward to their arrival.

That was certainly a surprise retaliation at the Oscars ... I have now read there is history between them ... but hardly the way/place to settle your differrences  Undecided

You are so kind and thoughtful Popeye to buy Bobbie a cardi, she is lucky to have you on her watch.

Good plan to start anew with your knitting Mica ... I have done that in the past ... some patterns are not worth racking your brains/wasting time for!

Off for coffee and washing out of the machine. Doggy has a groom and I can get those flower plants planted without helping wee hands. It wasn't very pleasant outside yesterday for that task.

Have a good day all.

morning ladies Smile  I spotted Venus this morning in our skies, a beautiful, bright sparkle.  If you look to the east, beside the moon  before the sun comes up, you will see it.  You can't miss it even with stars as it's brighter and bigger.

No embroidery for me yesterday as I was busy food hunting and helping our son with stuff.  He's had to close his doors on Saturday thanks to covid.  Sad Was a tough time to start a business but he's got a job interview already.  He still plans to go out on his own again but will work and earn a bit before trying again.  We're gutted for him but he's happy with the decision he's made and it's better now than going bankrupt.

Yesterday I bought some seeds for our native clematis and have them germinating in the fridge (it's what the back of the packet said to do).  I have had four attempts to grow this clematis (at $40 a pop,  Sad ) over the years but never by seed.  Fingers crossed this does the trick!  At least if it doesn't work this time, it will only be the cost of t he seed.

Today I'm helping a friend dig out some roses  Flower and two will be coming home with me.  They can replace a couple I have thrown out for various reasons.  I also need to mow the lawn.  We could really use some of that rain they have along the East Coast.

Mica, that was a good idea to frog your knitting and try another pattern.  If two experienced knitters can't understand the pattern, then it's the pattern, not you.  Life's too short to be mucking around like that.

My embroidery stand is going to work well.  MrK is still pottering about with it and has some knobs he wants to make so I can adjust the frame.

Better get cracking, I need to organise my spade, gloves,  and loppers (realllllllllly miss my secateurs!, still can't find them) and my contribution to lunch.

Morning everyone

Sunny and calm here.

Ohh Kiwimade I think your son did the wise thing and cutting things off before it got too bad. He sounds like he has an awesome work ethic so will do well. And as you said he can start it up again at a later date. He at least has the gear.

That's a good length of time for a crockpot Mica. Briscoe's has a sale lol... when do they not lol

I thought I would give my system a break yesterday and not have any strong pain meds, Ohh what a mistake that was.. I figured that I could handle it with the hotties etc but it wasn't a good look. But hopefully it will have helped the rest.

I did get quite alot done on the picture tho. I think Ive nearly finished the second eye.

MrP has probably already had his tummy tie offs, his appointment was 8am. I wont ring till tonight cos hes usually sore and sleepy.

Need to pack up a blanket too and get that sent off. Baby has arrived lol..

Have a fab day everyone

Native clematis are a gorgeous thing. Somewhere I have a photo my husband took of me when we were young and beautiful, on a hunting trip. Me with rifle, mad hair, perky boobs and a spray of clematis in my teeth lol...

Lovely memories thank you for that.

Off down to the village today to catch up with my two ladies, and to refresh the library book stocks. It wasn't a good pick last week so I have a bundle to return and have only Stephen King to keep me quiet before bedtime. And I need to see the tyre man about putting a bit more air into mine, flat bottoms and a chat about replacement cost I think. And then the next big expense will be new batteries. Still, that machine is worth every penny, my freedom and independence...

Kiwimade, your son has definitely made the right move with regard to his business; far better than to struggle on at present.

Have been busy so far; trimmed the hedge back a bit as its easier to do that then let it go & masses of it to do, then mowed the front lawn. Finished a painting but not sure about it so will leave it a while & then have another look.
I learned something new yesterday - apparently, tattoo artists do their stuff in photoshop too, then print out & work from that using stencils from it when needed - it just never occurred to me, but it should have I guess.

Loved the repair shop! Smile

Have to do my bloods so I thought Id get in early lol.

MrPs surgery went well yesterday , and they thought that they might have got the lot this time. Yay. He got back safe and sound and they finally "Found" a lazyboy chair for him so they changed the wardrobe around and he is happy with his comfy chair.

I did another 3.5 hours on the painting... I wish Id kept a record. I used to , bit its the biggest one Ive done. And the shoulder is getting used to it too which is awesome lol.

Glad you love the Boots Hunnihunni... I live in crocks type shoes, all year around. Its the only shoes that are comfortable as I hate anything on the back of my feet.

morning ladies Smile A hot day is on it's way so I'll start the lawn mowing shortly.

lmaoo oh_hunnihunni, I had heard there was a French & Saunders Repair Shop skit made for charity. I love the Repair Shop and French & Saunders are one of my favourite comedy duos so an awesome combination in my book. Can't beat the Brits for humour!

Two roses became three yesterday and are soaking in a bucket of water and worm wee for a few days. They are in very poor condition so I'll baby them along for a while and see how they grow here. Heaven knows where they will go in the garden lol. I'm glad I was able to make you smile with the clematis oh_hunnihunni Smile

Yesterday morning I got a text from our friend who trims gardens etc for people asking if I would like another load of mulch. Saves his client the dumping fee and I get more goodness for the garden so a win-win. He delivered it before we left so there is mulch to move today. I can already see the soil improving from last autum's mulching so it's worth the effort.

Once again no embroidery for me yesterday, we didn't get home until late. There's no hurry to finish it anyway.

The mornings warming up already, better get cracking and mow a very overdue, long lawn.

Boots arrive today, so I'll be half an hour getting them on to those increasingly distant feet, but so much fun to look forward to. With luck they won't need too much cleaning and rehabbing first!

Scored two bargain punnets of blue cinerarias yesterday so I will pot those up today to replace the white geraniums in blue and white chinese pots, they will be pretty at just the right time of year. And then it is just the last tomato to come out before I can refresh the soil and pop in the broad beans, and seed the bed around them with another winter veg. Not sure which yet, maybe celeriac for the fun of it? Been a while since I grew those and they are hard to find - and expensive in the shops.

And that will be pretty much it in the garden, till winter pruning time.

Interesting article on Stuff this morning about how the trees in the leafy suburbs help residents with climate change challenges, and how that equates to wealth. Might be good ammunition if my landlord makes good on their threats to cut down our few shade trees...

Good morning.

Another lovely  day looming ... we have been getting to 27 degrees the last few days, the summer is holding on!

The school run done and dusted and gd picked up by her other nana (I filled in this morning) so I can have my coffee and the day is mine.

The 2 hibiscus cuttings I snipped from the neighbours' shrub have roots already ... thanks OH for your growing tips. If they both grow on, I will have one to gift Smile .

I could always find another space for a new rose KM .... sometimes I'd question my wisdom, if it was a particularly vicious one at pruning time, but usually the flowering cancelled those thoughts! I now have limited space, so I have to think twice about adding plants!

Had better get out for doggy walk, before it gets any hotter.

Have a good day.

Hope those boots are an excellent buy Hunni; if your landlord looks like making good on that threat, it might be worth getting neighborhood support to prevent it, its not the kind of thing which is so easy to get away with these days when people are far more aware of the worth of trees.

I'd intended to mow back lawn this morning, although forecast had said slight possibility of some showers..naturally, when i got up it was tipping down & still is. So decided to make a strudel & once that was in oven I remembered that recipe for roast tomato soup which my vegan granddaughter had given me. She called in yesterday to pick up some apples, tomatoes & silver beet, & later sent me a photo of her silver beet & potato soup, & said she might make roast tomato soup as well; sounded good so I got the recipe from her.

I've gone off faffing about with dozens of ingredients & making complicated things so it was perfect - just roasted tomatoes, onion & garlic. I did wonder how the hell I was supposed to get the skins off but decided to just keep going & worry about it later. I only changed it slightly by adding some basil pesto. So once its all cooked, you then put it in food processor for about 2 minutes.
As I foolishly picked up my book to read while waiting, it might have been nearer five minutes - or ten, who knows. But it turns out that the skins had been mushed up anyway & it tastes really good.
So much so that I may have to make more as tomatoes ripen to put in freezer.

The boots arrived. I nearly hugged the courier guy, which he found highly amusing, and then spent some time unlacing, repolishing and conditioning before trying them on, and of course they fit beautifully. Both feet, the fat foot and the normal one.

And oh they are going to look so good with any of my mad coloured hand knitted (not by me!) socks rolled down over the tops.

Bring on Winter!

Oh, and I need that roast tomato soup recipe please!

Lawns are mowed and some baking in the oven. Those boots sound perfect OHH Big Grin

Lilith, that roast tomato soup sounds divine, could I also have the recipe please?

I've decided I may just have to extend the garden a teeny bit to make room for the roses. MrK rolled his eyes when I said.. I've been thinking... lol

The mulch is still there to be moved but it's hot outside so tomorrow is another day. Smile

Vegan roast tomato soup.

I did simplify it by not adding thyme or lemon juice because I wanted to add basil pesto instead & Delmaine make a yummy one.

I was telling a lady in the hardware shop about my planned standard hibiscus and she said she was going to try the same trick. She apparently has some beauties growing on her boundary and wants to reproduce them. She said she'd experiment and take two of each, and if they took she'd drop one of each into the hardware shop for me to collect. Such a lovely thought!
They are delightfully easy, so I am definitely going to acquire a few more!

morning ladies Smile Another sunny day here by the looks of it.

Thanks for the soup recipe, lilith, it looks sooo good. And as you say, others things can be added to it. There is no way on this green earth MrK would ever be vegan lol so I would add a bit of beef shin to it.

Awesome about your boots, OHH, I hope you get many happy years wearing them. And lucky they fit both feet! There are some lovely people out there Smile That is so kind of the lady at the hardware shop to do that for you.

I have started making hot cross buns using the Chelsea Winter's online recipe. If it's as good as her pavlova recipe then these will be great. I have the 'booster' part rising as I type and the fruit has been soaking in the fridge overnight. I can get them done around doing the housework then outside to move some mulch. Once the mulch has been moved, over the next day or two I'll extend the garden a tad... just a smidgen... a wee bit... not much... honest! And I seriously have to think where to put these roses. Graeme Thomas I think they are so a pretty yellow.

Maybe I'll get to my falcon sometime today? Fingers crossed!

Good morning ... a lovely one on the cards too. April already and Easter just around the corner!

Here's hoping you score those hibiscus OHH. The one I'm trying to grow reminds me of Graeme Thomas rose, perhaps a bit more golden with ruffled petals ... gorgeous. The slight shift of garden boundary will "never" be noticed KM, lol!

Nothing particular planned,  but first up to the supermarket before it's busy.

Have a good day all.
