You can never have enough...
Very cloudy here & threatening to rain, hope it holds off until I've got one or two things done, including the dog walk.
Went to library earlier & while I was around there went to local chemist & got my booster shot done - took a while as loads of people also getting the jab. Quite glad its all done & dusted now.

As Kiwimade says we talk about everything here..  I think most crafters have all the same type of hobbies..

I love the sound of a Guard Cat lol...

Our previous two were 8 kilo fatties, never could slim them down. The Grey Millie saved my life once. And bob who was a White and Ginger was such a clever boy. He knew his left from right.

I think it comes from training and teaching as they grow.

I got to Mid morning and the pain med worked, but too well I ended up sleeping for 2.5 hours.. but it has helped with the pain and I stretched my spine and hips.

I looked at head office's details and They have an email facility. I want things in writing so will do that and give them a couple of days to respond..

When I rang MrP last night he was very thankful for me yesterday. I think he understands I hate him being there but he knows he has to be, but that I havent just dumped him. And am willing to fight for both their sakes. We have a tendancy to call people who are bolshy in positions of reception etc , bulldogs.. meaning both good and bad in cases. but he said last night , He has his own Bulldog in me. And he knows I dont fight dirty, I dont swear and I also dont stop till something is sorted..

So Im about to get my collar on and email them.

Thanks Popeye333 and Kiwimade64.

Popeye333 it sounds like you have a lot going on. I hope you're coping and that what can be resolved will be. Resthome issues can be a problem. Best wishes.

I like the Guard Cat concept! That a good name for him. He spends a lot of time guarding the compost bins (ie pest control). Thanks to him we get very few rodents, although he's had 2 mice in the last week. I disturbed them when I was turning one bin into the other and he got one on the spot, and the other was dead on the lawn a few days later. He's 7.5kg and not fat. A few weeks ago a neighbour asked if was losing weight. I had weighed him a couple of weeks before that and he was the same as usual. All lean muscle and full of character.

I didn't get to sewing yesterday - got sidetracked and didn't get home with the groceries until mid-afternoon, then had some food items that needed immediate processing - eg I bought some cheap bulk mushrooms to slice and freeze. So that took priority.

Today is another day although so far I've been doing other (housework) things first.
Our Millie cat was the Christmas tree Guard Cat. She wouldnt let Bobcat anywhere near it. She would sleep underneath it lol...

morning ladies Smile Look at us with just over 500 posts! Go us lol. Another sticky day here today and it looks like it will be here until next week.

I'm having an early start this morning as I want to weed and move as much of the mulch onto the garden as I can while the soil is wet. This way I can 'lock in' the rain and save watering for a little while.

Yesterday my sister-in-law wrote her car off. She's fine and so is the guy she hit with her car. Thank goodness for insurance. Her car doesn't seem to have much damage but because the transmission and steering was affected the car is a write off.

I'm still embroidering the flower for my mask but it was just too hot and sticky to sew yesterday. I was washing my hands constantly as they were becoming more and more sweaty so in the end I flagged it for the day.

Coffee is finished, it's light enough now to see what I'm doing outside so time to move.

Morning everyone

I just didnt want to get up this morning lol.. Already too hot. arghhhh!!!!

Kiwimade have you tried using powder on your hands? somewhere in my memory I remember someone doing this. Might have been Mum many years ago cos she used to do Hand stitching on Anthony Squires Suits.. Oddly MrP's Sister worked in the same place but at different times.

Wow so pleased your sister and the other guy are ok... Thank fully car can be replaced easy enough.

Well it took 7 phone calls to get to speak to someone higher up in the rest home system.. But they want a more detailed email, so I will do that later today.

BUT.. yesterday was so totally different for MrP. They took a meal in that was not good for him but as he was telling the person who took it in, another came in and said No not that one, we have a better one for him. Meat, mashed potatoes and a pile of cabbage.. He LOVED it and was one of the few times he cleared his plate. And Fruit salad with ice cream.

Then for dinner they gave him scrambled eggs and toast, another favourite..... Seems to me they have Finally they have read his diet sheet..

And I am allowed to visit Bobbie on Friday... And I will be able to tell her when her Birthday is.. I was right, she is a July Baby and will be 87 on the 24th... Her and MrP might be different star signs but they both have the same wicked cheeky sense of humour. And she has brightened and lifted MrPs whole mood.. I was soo excited when I found out that I rang MrP back again and he has decided I can tell her, I thought he might want to.

Shopping this morning when I get my butt into gear lol...

Ive arranged a helper to come and help me with my garage sale so I started getting stuff I dont need from the kitchen. Long over due lol.

Have a fab day everyone

Good morning.

Another hot, overcast and humid day .... I've hung out the washing .... I wonder if that was a good plan  Undecided

I have a few things I really need to do ... weeding, ironing (yes, I do some ironing as well km) or housework but first of all I shall have my morning coffee. It's far too hot to sit and do any handcraft lately.

Have a good day.

The lawn needs mowing & the hedge needs a trim - so naturally, its tipping down here. Even the dog wasn't keen on her usual throwing the ball around the backyard, & after she brought the ball back & pointedly dropped it on the back porch for the second time, the clearly slightly thick human got the message. Smile
Too wet out there.

morning ladies Smile We have some biggg black clouds looming this morning so I know it's going to be another nasty, sticky, day.

Yesterday afternoon I finished embroidering another flower and then last evening while watching the Olympics, embroidered a simple outline of a butterfly. I'll sew them into masks sometime today all going well. I bet your chomping at the bit to get your sewing machine back, mica.

A bit of housework this morning after I have moved some more garden mulch. It's not that I'm a huge fan of housework, but I am a huge fan of a clean and tidy home. Can't have one without the other.

Blimmen flies! All this humidity and still days and the flies come out to play. Being rural and surrounded by cows probably doesn't help. I have quite a few bodies to vacum later.

MrK wants to clean the heat pump/air con filters this morning too. He takes them out to his workshop and gives them a blast with his air gun. Does the trick and we don't have to wait for them to dry if they were washed.

Popeye, it's good that the resthome have finally started to follow MrP's diet sheet. Maybe they saw you there at meal time!

It's light enough to see what I'm doing outside so better move. My knee stiffens up when I sit too long anyway thanks to the bruise. Can't wait for the bruising to finish.

Woke up this morning to Stuff's article about the senior couple in the retirement village who died two days apart after one was hospitalised and they were separated. Made my eyes sting that did. Lucky lucky couple. Some of us are just so blessed to have happy partnerships that last for decades, and I confess to being very envious of such pure good fortune.

As for this little life, I spent yesterday wrangling peaches as the rain inspired brown rot advances through the tree, poaching big pots full for the freezer and munching on pieces of the less perfect ones. I'm getting good exercise biffing the less worthy ones into the feijoa hedge with the happy thought the seedlings might rise through it to take over in the next ten years. The feijoas are small and hard and usually pitted with guava moth babies, so peaches would be a step up imo.

Still playing with the Hmong indigo dyed hemp pieces to go on my denim jacket. Going through the stash baskets I have come across some rose red antique velvet ribbon and some faded blue fringing both of which speaks to the denim so those are draped around the jacket hanging on the wall to inspire me. I need your embroidery fingers to come push me into action and bring it all together, but maybe a little bit of novice sashiko work might do the trick. When it is a bit cooler...

Nice to have a project to look forward to!

I'm back lol. I'm having a cold drink to cool down. So far I've moved almost half of the mulch but have stopped because I'm sweating like you wouldn't believe and there are some pretty little fungi growing in last years mulch. I know they will only last a day so I'll leave them to work their magic and I can get on with other things.

The red velvet ribbon and blue fringing sound gorgeous, oh_hunnihunni. Sashiko work would be perfect... just remember the size of your stitches traditionally should be the size of a grain of rice Tongue It's so tempting to go bigger to get the project finished.

MrK has made some chutney while I was mulching, it seems over the last few years we have done a role reversal lol. Doesn't matter who does what as long as it gets done. I see my bottle of bourbon on the bench and I suspect he has put a slug of bourbon in it.

Morning everyone

Im glad I set the alarm or I might have slept through its soo grey and dark here.. Still horrible and sticky tho.

I think the Home have been told off. Im yet to send my email tho, I was going to do it yesterday but I had a phoen call from a lady on fb and 2 hours later we got off the phone lol.

Im off to see Bobbie this morning. MrP will be at Middlemore at the mo waiting for his next round of tie offs in his tummy. But he promised me last night, if he is back at the home he will keep his door closed. They close it if they are out, but he said he will keep it closed so I dont know if he is there and we dont have to see each other without being able to visit. All going well Im going to ask if we can have a joint visit in the future..

His food yesterday was ok apart from one part of his tea, peas again.. The worst offender.

Pleased to report my knee is good again, will have to be careful tho.. Ive always dreaded limb injuries lol.

The best bit of news for me yesterday I learnt that the Quack of a Dr that was treating me for a sore arm, when it was actually my heart, has finally retired. He was doping me up on Voltaren and had it not been for our Millie cat head butting me awake I would have died in my sleep. He should have been struck off years ago. but finally he is gone and I wont have to see his face ever again.

Soo sweet re the old couple. There is a couple in MrPs wing, seperated by their en-suite, I imagine they will go the same. True love and never wanting to be parted...

Have a fab day everyone.. its going to be a stinker

Heavy rain overnight, overcast and very muggy at the moment.

Oh_Hunnihunni your plans for your jacket sound great. I enjoy hearing about your and KM gardening exploits.
I always put a slug of brandy in my apricot jam, given me ideas about other flavours.
DH returned home from K9 walk yesterday with 1.2 kg blackberries dog poo bags have more than one use  Cool

DGS came to play with us yesterday afternoon as his dad got a specialist appt due to a cancellation . So no rest for us yesterday.

The elastics etc arrived yesterday so I can make  bra toille 2 this one hopefully will be wearable, my first one the bridge was too  big and the back band needed a tweak so have altered the pattern pieces. So hopefully will get to that this afternoon.

Coffee finished gotta get some chores done

Good morning - last night was so awful slept with the doors open with just the locked security doors closed - heavy rain later is forecast hopefully it might clear the air but it wonÔÇÖt
Pleased you had some progress on Mr Ps meals Popeye - half the problem is they are all so short staffed - a woman I know in her late sixties works for one of the agencies the DHB send in to vacuum and clean the shower etc in pensioners homes - she is now being sent out in the evening by the agency to one of the local resthomes who havenÔÇÖt got enough staff and she feeds the residents and settles them in bed - she has so many on her roster she said she hasnÔÇÖt got time to actually care for them - unfortunately she needs the income but it sure is upsetting her - Mr P is lucky to have you Popeye
Finally gave my grandson his blanket - was over the moon - itÔÇÖs an illusion the stripes appear to disappear down into a crater - so hard to explain - canÔÇÖt put photos on here using my iPad - he was wrapped - it suddenly hit me I canÔÇÖt give him a hug - one of his friends got covid at that concert and there is covid in a primary school out near his - so that was sad - the whole thing hit me - he had his mask on and we had to keep away from each other - he is a big 17 year old and his bear hugs are sorely missed - what a different world we live in Have started a small one Dr Seuss and two thingees - had all the colours in my stash - every week I am going to weave in the ends I am not leaving them all to the end !
Hope the protest in Wgtn ends peacefully - you have to feel for the business people around who canÔÇÖt open their businesses but I do understand people need to be able to protest - my Mum joined the anti apartheid march - I took the kids to town to watch her march through the Main Street of Napier - she was such a tiny lady but she certainly could chant -
Have some more beetroot to bottle better get cracking

Those colours sound gorgeous, Hunni. I think we'd all be deeply envious of that old couple.

I have slightly stinging eyes too just now - came across an image of young soldiers marching off to war & it occurred to me that there must also have been hundreds of young Germans also leaving their families at that time, all going off to war to kill each other. We humans are slow learners.

Had a mad rush of energy earlier & mowed back lawn then zipped around to library to pick up a hold, back again for a fast coffee & then tackled the dreaded hedge. And with my stunning luck, the wretched hedge trimmer conked out half way through - lucky I did the worst side first.

So now I'm knackered & don't want to be bothered doing tea - the dog refused to do it again. No doubt I'll think of something.

morning ladies Smile  Wow, did we have some rain, or what!  And it's still raining and warm.  So mulching for me today.

That elderly couple are so very lucky.  To have found someone to live your life with is such a precious thing.

We finished watching the Jack Reacher series on Prime Amazon and it was pretty much true to the book (thank goodness).  Lee Child was as good as his word when he said in an interview it would be.  I couldn't put my finger on that niggle about the guy who acted as Reacher though, and I think you're right, Oh_hunnihunni,  he wasn't 'world weary' enough.  But in saying that, I must admit I enjoyed it when he took his shirt (and the rest lol) off.  Blush Angel

Great practicing there, Oh_hunnihunni.  Remember to keep your stitches small, it will help to keep any puckering down too.

Last night I started embroidering another mask, this time white on white.  Am debating whether to use beads or French knots.  I hate doing French knots but they are more permanent than beads and will make washing the mask easier.

Happy crafting Smile

Morning everyone

Its not raining at present, but did for most of the day yesterday. But there wasnt a breath of wind so I decided to keep the doors shut and have my fan on. so the heat from outside didnt come in. I love my fresh air but it was cooler that way. Have the doors open at the mo tho.

Yesterday was Wonderful and Horrible within minutes. It was lovely visiting Bobbie, and while there a nurse had come in and told me MrPs surgery had gone well. That theyd had to sedate him a little. And that his sugars had dropped very low. I asked them to make sure his door was shut when I left.
It wasnt.. And he was sitting in his chair facing me , still looking a little "Stoned" and I couldnt go in. It was sooo very hard. Told him I was hurrying home to ring him. Bawled the whole way.

The day was just a mess from there.. I lost it last night and put a couple of posts on FB. one in our local group and the mess of this rest home has been happening for years by the sounds of it. Im going to ring the Commissioner on Tuesday, cos I visit on Monday.

They wont let me join in the valentines fish and chip picnic on Monday. Meant to be wearing my mask when I visit.. But I havent been and neither has the manager. So if they say something Ill be telling them Ill wear one when she does.

MrP has to go back again in 6ish weeks for more. They only thing we can figure out that has caused this in the Years that he was taking Diclofinac / Voltaren tablets. Its hurting him more each time. But its also helping him not be so anaemic.

JanW I LOVE your grandsons Blanket... I tried to describe it to MrP and told him it was like a science fiction sink hole. Ive taken a photo to show him on Monday.

Today Im going to sit on the kitchen floor and go through the corner cupboards. years ago MrP made ma a stick with a 90 degree elbow on it for getting things from the back of corner cupboards. So Ill be having a cull. We used to have alot of big dinners at our place so have countless dinner sets and cooking and serving dishes. I need to cut them down a bit.

Have a fab day everyone..

And may the Heavens open on the Parliament grounds again.. It will be a mess and will have to be regrassed etc when they have gone too..
Big Grin They told me I couldn't, so I did.!! Big Grin

I'm waiting for MrK to vacate the kitchen so I cam bake my apricot loaf. I don't know how he knows I'm going to need the kitchen just when I do! lol

Yummmmmm blackberry jam. Mica, your husband scored well with those blackberries, it must have been quite a patch.

I had to laugh when a TV reporter mentioned a sign she saw at the protest... the team of six million versus 200 dic*heads! Loved it! And I read Trevor Mallard asked for the sprinklers to be left on overnight but the protestors have dug drainage channels in the lawn. Let's see how tough they are when those gale force winds kick inalong with the rain. They might even find their cars have been towed too.
