You can never have enough...
Good morning ladies - here in Dunedin we have all the rain you could wish for - I would be happy to send you some, if I could!
I do have other cameras!

Rained this morning but eased off now. Picked a few runner beans earlier.

morning ladies Smile Another very hot day today by the looks of it but we are due rain tomorrow. Practika, if only we could have some of yours! Or some from the West Coast.

Oh_hunnihunni, homegrown peaches are sooo good. Great you have enough to freeze too. MrK wants to plant a peacherine tree this autum. We're digging out the raspberries as we were both disappointed with them and replacing it with an espaliered peacherine.

No cicadas this summer for us Sad Usually our tree would be full of them and your talking loudly to be heard over them. When we had ducks, the stoats and rats would take the ducklings. Ducks aren't the greatest of mums and have no idea. And we had a hedgehog attack one of our nesting ducks too. No wonder DoC want to get rid of hedgehogs. After seeing Brie being attacked I have no qualms about knocking the little buggars off whenever they appear in the garden.

Exciting stuff isn't it, Jan, with the borders opening. When they closed I was going to meet my brother for the very first time. So I'm wondering if that will still happen.

Today is 'sewing day', I've finished all the embroidery and will sew my tote bag and the little pouches I've been asked to sew. I saw in a sewing group a lady had bought some little 'snaps' to close a purse she had sewn so might investigate these rather than having cords running through them. Just something a bit different.

Time to take my coffee outside and water the garden pots. Even the geraniums are gasping for water. It's a nice way to start the day.

Happy crafting Smile

Morning everyone

Still no rain here either.. I forgot we did have one day a couple of weeks ago, when the people came to do my lawn. But thats all since before Christmas. I just dont remember it being so long without rain. Yep I have to water my pots this morning too. The old fashioned violets drink heaps.

Talking of fruit trees, we used to have big ones when we were kids. My neighbour sister friend and I used to sit in them singing our hearts out. The feijoa tree was soo big we could crawl in underneath it and not be seen, Which was fun since it was beside the front path so people were surprised if we spoke to them lol.. We ate so many that I still cant eat them lol.

MrP had a hissy while I visited yesterday so I left. I told him I was going to sort his tools so I could put them away for the garage sale, he was fine with that. Then he said he didnt know what he was going to do with his fishing gear, I said well you know you wont be using it why dont I sell it and buy you something nice for your room.. It hit the fan, Im not staying hear for the rest of my life blah blah blah. So I left. And I didnt bother to ring him last night...He hasnt even used it for 16ish years.

When I got out of the car up there, there was a ring neck dove picking up seeds under the tree I park under.. I got photos and a short video. I was 2 meters away and talking to him but he didnt shy away.

Im off to the garage once Im done on here.. It will be a big hot job but will be worth it.

Would be lovely for you to meet your brother Kiwimade, Where is he from?

Have a fab day all

Edit to add I heard Cicadas on Tuesday but havent heard any since lol

Good morning all.

Super hot here already. Hard to believe there are people getting flooded out of their homes down country  Sad

Another one suffering from fruit tree envy. I used to have an orchard with most fruits growing. The black boy peach I miss a lot. I will never be without a lemon and mandarin tree though, plus we have a young, (not very long) feijoa hedge growing.

I think today will be a day of inside activity or if outside, done in the shade.

Have a good long weekend.

My peach tree is rather special. I grew it from one of those flatto peaches from New World, and while it certainly isn't a flat fruit, and it isn't a large fruit, it is a heavy cropper and now droops its laden branches over my second story deck. The blossom in Spring is a delight, it is easy care - just a couple of early season copper sprays to knock the leaf curl back, and enough fruit to keep me happy fresh and frozen. It tastes and looks like a Golden Queen from the old days. Free stone too... And every year there are seedlings to give away.

Certainly worth popping that peach stone into a pot ten years ago!

Wow, Oh_hunihunni, that was a great result ... it could have gone either way ... after all the waiting!

Tipping down here & a bit cold, had to dig out a cardigan to put on. Luckily the eldest sweetie darling in Westport didn't have to evacuate after all.
Middle sweetie darling called in yesterday to look at my wretched hedge trimmer which was on the blink yet again - a couple if minutes fiddling about & he got it going - bloody thing constantly plays up but no point complaining since its the smallest & lightest I could get; any heavier & I wouldn't be able to use it.

So now have to wait for the rain to stop & let things dry out - by which time the damned hedge & the lawn will have grown even more. oh joy.

Good afternoon - warm in the bay and very blustery - have rain forecasted for the next week but will see what happens
Popeye doves are beautiful we used to have them on the orchard and white fan tailed pigeons - until we bought an Abyssinian cat - I blamed the foxie next door for the wholesale slaughter we woke up to one morning - the cat didnÔÇÖt bother with sparrows so didnÔÇÖt think of him until my husband brought home from the egg farm some old chooks who had become too old for them to bother with anymore - two chooks were killed - not eaten - so instead of leaving the rest free ranging in the orchard he penned them and set up a camera - the culprit was my huge big gentle Abyssinian cat who would only eat his food out of the microwave after it had been warmed slightly - he used to stretch up and ping the microwave to signal it was time to be fed - as you can imagine my old boys dream of chooks spending their retirement free ranging in our orchard was over.He then moved onto sheep - the SPCA contacted him could he house a string of shepherding dogs that had been abandoned- tied to a hedge - he decided after he had them for a while in the orchard shed that he should get some sheep so they would keep fit - one by one they were all rehomed except a very old beardie - until one day an old boy in a well travelled ute turned up - after my old boy gave him the once over he went to drop the tailgate on the ute and lift the old dog up - no way the old boy wanted him in the cab -last we saw was the old boy driving out with the old dog licking his bald head - never a dull day - the orchard was huge - we could write a book on the sideline activities he managed to find time for
I see the kids put my old boys fishing gear in the shed I would rather somebody be using it - quite a few things I put in the pile to go and they decided differently - but itÔÇÖs out of my way so they can do whatever when the times come
Clouding over now might get the washing in just in case

Still raining here the gardens will be ienjoying it not to mention the grass.

Loved my Abyssinians bought my first one way back in 1979 and usually had two at a time over the years  until 3 years ago . They very intelligent, loving and oh so naughty. I miss our Abyssinian we have a rescue tabby now she is sweet but not the same. Our DS has two Abyssinian so kinda get my fix when we visit them.

Cloned a bra yesterday and half way through sewing it up. All going to plan should finish it today.

Have friends coming for dinner tonight so will have a tidy up this morning.

Cool last night so started knitting a jumper for DGD bigger size for the winter. Hot pink with white trim. Using 4ply merino so it won't be bulky

Have good day

morning ladies Smile  It's sticky and humid here, was around 20 degrees all night.  I'm hoping the rain will kick in very soon.

I don't buy those flat peaches so it's interesting to see you were able to grow a new plant from one and have seedlings, oh_hunnihunni.  They sound  delicious and were well worth the wait.

Yesterday I finished my tote bag although it does need a good iron.  It's a pretty basic pattern for a bag, but lined and I did put a clip in it to hold my keys.  I get sick of fossicking around trying to find them in the bottom of my bag.  The photo doesn't do justice to the olive green fabric but you get the gist of it.  Am pleased I can finally use it, my supermarket bags are getting old and worn to the point they are getting holes in their bottoms.

Not sure what I'm going to do this morning but I do know we will watching the winter Olympics this afternoon as our snow boarder goes for gold.  I've been watching the Olympics in the evening and omgg, the 15km cross country ski, why on earth would you do that lol.  But the ice skating Friday evening was just beautiful.

Happy crafting Smile

for some reason I could only post the same pic, not two different ones.  Here's the back of the bag.

Good morning - yippee we have had rain overnight and the sky is looking very grey so should get more hopefully
Yess hunny and mica the Abyssinian is a very lovable cat - we had two Rottweiler and the cat used to do the drop and roll with them - he was so trainable. We bought him from a breeder near I think ate Awamutu I think itÔÇÖs so long ago - absolutely beautiful huge house with covered decks all around - she must have had 30 cats and kittens and the entire house was a giant cat house - climbing things around the walls - beds everywhere - fastidiously clean but I have never seen anything like it - she made us a cup of coffee and we sat down to sign the extensive paper work next thing one of the cats hopped up and peed in the sink - she nonchalantly hopped up and ran the tap in the sink - needless to say we didnÔÇÖt drink our coffee ! When he died we got a female - she loved to swim in the pool - lived until she was 20 - she would have been a comedian had she been human .We had a ginger moggie at the same time - my son found him in a plastic bag along with his siblings down the river and a black cat who was the last one left at the pet shop and the same son heard any kittens left at the end of the week was sent to Massey for experimentation . The last cat I had was a Manx - we took him to Ozzie with us and the staffi - he was a fantastic cat - still miss them all - I share the neighbours big ginger beauty now
Your bag is stunning Kiwimade
Better get cracking sister is coming for coffee and she is an early bird

Good morning.

Yes, sticky and overcast here as well .... as we wait for the rain ....

The tote bag is great Kiwimade ... a good idea having the key clip ... searching for the key in the depths of a bag a given for a lot of us!

Just back from a walk while we could and now wondering if the sheets will get a chance for a blow on the line before the rain arrives  Undecided

A day to have a rummage through my knitting yarn bags and decide on some knitting projects for the cooler months.

Have a good Waitangi day.

IT'S RAINING..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Morning everyone,

But ohh so muggy, I feel like Im breathing wet air lol... very hot overnight.. I had the fan on the strongest speed and slept on top of the bed.

Its appears when my knee locked yesterday Ive done something to it.. its sooo sore... Ive always dreaded leg injuries as Im not a little chick. So Im using the walker which gives me stability and Ill just keep the pain meds up till I can get through triage if needed on Tuesday.. it would have to be a long weekend of course,,, but it may have mended by then.

I finished the garage and its how it should have been a long time ago. So now Ill be able to put the covers up and have a garage sale. Just need to enlist some helpers.

A day of rest, which I was planning on, but resting the knee is a bonus lol, so I think Ill be watching some of the games and doing some squares for the blanket.

Love your Bag Kiwimade... soo handy... I use a lanyard and hang my keys around my neck, and backpack on the back. it fees up my hands lol

Have a fab day everyone
