You can never have enough...
morning ladies Smile It's an overcast morning, here's hoping we have some rain today.

Yesterday we had my sister-in-law's memorial, it was just gorgeous. A stunning day with lots of laughter and sharing of memories and musical entertainment by family members. We squeaked in under the allowed 100 people with a few pulling out due to worries about omicron.

Last evening I cooked a huge bucketful of plums so that's in the freezer. It's quite satisfying seeing our produce being eaten.

Today I'm not sure what we're doing but I do know I need to get to the supermarket. If only we didn't have to eat... imagine how much we would save.

Embroidery later today and this time I will finish it lol... keep telling yourself this lady, and you'll eventually be right!

happy crafting Smile

I went to the library yesterday and on the way back noticed the local barber had no customers, so on impulse I popped in for a trim. My first cut since the very first lockdown! She took off about an inch and a half and evened things up so I feel quite spoiled. Might do it again in another couple of years...

Morning all
Another sticky day but rain is coming tomorrow the garden will be pleased.

Bought a phone yesterday so will set it up today will take 40 minutes to transfer all the stuff from old phone.
New phone is Samsung S21FE

Not much else planned DD  might visit this afternoon.

We have made the difficult decision not to attend a wedding in 2 weeks. I was looking forward to it and some socialisation but modellers predicting the #@¥#virus numbers will be up and can't risk DH catching it argh.....
Ok winge over

Have a good day

Good morning.

Overcast, mild and windy.  We'll see if any rain eventuates!

That's a shame Mica ... I'm assuming dh is immunocompromised. The decision for us to attend another wedding next month has been taken out of our hands.  Postponed until November ... who knows how this "thing" will pan out over the year Undecided

Kiwimade, memorial occasions have become the norm ... from our experience, a lovely get-together for friends/family.

Had a good weeding session yesterday.  Have been picking blueberries every other day and the passionfruit nearly done.  The tomatoes a disaster  Sad

Have a great day.

Morning everyone.

Windy here but the rain clouds have gone. It didnt happen yesterday.

Glad you had the memorial Kiwimade.

I dont have important things like weddings or funerals but Have been yo-yoing in the desicion of when my friend comes up from Taranaki. She helps with Mainly music and one of the ladies isnt vaccinated and wont wear a mask. The stupid church that runs it should be banning her.. but my friend doesnt seem to care. I cant risk her coming up, sharing with me then me taking it to the rest home.

Something else that really cheese me off is National saying they would do this and that. Well if they got in they have all the history of what we have done, Labour is the one learning as we go. Cos we havent had this before. But yeahh we are all well and truely over it. We havent had "Normal" for so long now.

I need to find some motivation. Theres stuff I want to do but I never get around to it lol..

Glad to hear the gardens are producing and you all putting it away for later.

Hunnuhunni I last had my hair trimmed about 3-4 years ago lol... Its down to my butt now.. I like it long cos I can put it up off my neck and ears to be cooler.

Have a fab day everyone

Heavy rain predicted here but I noticed there was a nor west arch so took the gamble & rushed about changing sheets & hanging them out, then mowed the front lawn. Lucky for me the rain gods decided to hold off until I'd got it all done - quite warm here so washing dried quickly. I'll probably be knackered later or tomorrow but glad I got it done.
I've learned that its best to use those bursts of energy when they turn up.

Its a lucky thing that granddaughter & her partner had their wedding when they did - just in the nick of time to avoid an outbreak of covid. Smile

Good afternoon - I put washing on the line including my air cell blanket then scuttled off to help set up the local school breakfast facility worrying as it started to cloud over but allÔÇÖs well -so many kids will be so pleased to get back to their good start for the day - it is so depressing the school I help has many kids living in motels - their spirit is broken and havenÔÇÖt a hope in hell of learning - they are worn out before they even get there - living without proper cooking or laundry facilities ,police getting called to adjoining units practically every night ,gang members being allowed to live amongst them with their dogs in units - think the most soul destroying thing is seeing kids put food in their pockets to take home to their Mums. I thank the businesses every day who donate the food so we can do it - rant over
I am a tiger for punishment have started another blanket - this one has Dr Seuss and two of those little thingees with the turquoise hair .Was going to buy wool but looked at how much it has increased so decided to dig in my bins - the only colour I havenÔÇÖt got is orange for the goldfish but only need 2 metres so it will have to be gold
I see they are closing the gap to three months before your allowed your booster shot which pleases me as I didnÔÇÖt get my second shot until December as the GP was less than agreeable to me having the vaccine at all - makes me wonder if she was actually not really pro vaccine- have spoken to several people who had the same experience with her
Tip top canÔÇÖt get ingredients for icebocks ,ice block sticks and the wrapping - you have to ask why we donÔÇÖt make ice block sticks here anymore - we used to in Taupo but like so many other mills have closed down .My kids are conspiring one is in the supermarket the other owns sawmills so who knows ! ItÔÇÖs really stupid a lot of kiwi manufacturers havenÔÇÖt got product on the shelf because they canÔÇÖt get the packaging or containers - but all the regulations specify what they are required to use and itÔÇÖs all overseas sourced. One thing I hope covid does is encourage kiwi manufacturers to open up again - another rant over
My old boy used to cut my hair - went to the hairdressers a couple of times after he died and thought I can do this - so I now cut my own - only once made a huge mistake and somehow flicked my hair over my head and cut my fringe off at near scalp level - instead of a comb over I had a comb forward to cover it off
Grandson has had a clear covid test after his concert and a clear rat test last night so is coming to pick up his blanket but he will keep his mask on and no hugs and kisses - wish I could put a photo up itÔÇÖs sure as hell different - will email it to you kiwimade
Need some lunch after all that ranting

Yay! I'd ordered a Maanaki serving platter as a wedding gift for granddaughter & partner which arrived today & I'm really extremely pleased with it - beautifully made, lovely packaging & really nice people to deal with.

I'd tried to get one for them prior to their wedding but they'd sold out so I emailed but had no reply - it was just before Xmas so no doubt busy so tried again & looked elsewhere while i was waiting. I did find some nice ones but they just weren't as lovely as the ones at Aho creative so had one last try & it was third time lucky! Hugely apologetic for the lack of contact, & while none were on their site as yet, some were almost ready & would I like one! Yes I would indeed & granddaughter wouldn't mind the wait when she sees it.

I'm so pleased with it - if I was a cat I'd be purring at full volume! Smile

morning ladies Smile We had rain! And looks like more today too.

This blimmen covid. What a disappointment, mica, about the wedding. I suppose we will be using the covid modelers like the weather forecasters soon to help make the decisions we need to make.

Ohh Jan, that is just heartbreaking for the kids and their families. I wonder just how people can pay the huge rents landlords charge. One small hiccup financially is all it takes to tip a family over the edge. It's not a way to live.

Lileth, great isn't it when the service and packaging match the lovely item. It makes for an overall great experience and adds to the pleasure. I've h ad a quick look at the link you posted, omggg there is some gorgeous stuff there! Thanks a bunch lol, now I'm realllllly tempted! Tongue

Yesterday I was in Hamilton doing our shopping and picked up my new weed sprayer I bought via click and collect. Saw they invoiced me this morning for it so I'll phone them today and remind them it has been paid for.

Not much embroidery yesterday as I bottled some plum sauce and made enough to give some to my sister-in-law when she bought MrK home from staying with her. It's quite tart but we like it that way. You don't realise how sweet commercially bought sauces are until you taste mine lol.

Today I'll plant some plants my sister-in-law gave me including a heap of tulip bulbs she bought from her local council. They had been in the city gardens and were being replaced so were being sold to the public for some ridiculous amount, something like 10 bulbs for $1. I know it's early to plant them but I never garden by the 'right or wrong time' lol. They will be my lovely mystery when it comes to colour Smile

Time to move. The Furry One is telling me it's playtime <3 and to spare my ankles from being bashed by the tug rope I had better get cracking. Tongue <3

Morning everyone

I havent looked outside yet but I suspect we had a little rain overnight. If only we could pinch some from the south.

Your right Kiwimade we are all getting an education about Covid and all that goes with it. And if thats not enough the weather bombs, earth quakes and volcanoes are all adding to the hell we are going through.

I hope it makes up stronger. Its not something we will forget.

Did anyone see the Peggypurl knitters on breakfast yesterday? Another place doing blankets for those that need them. NZers are true givers thats for sure.

Im off to do my bloods and shopping and then hopefully Ill be home spartly and before it gets too hot.

Have a fab day everyone

I scored my booster yesterday on impulse while being forced to waste time down in Devonport, waiting on a sick cat at the vets. Must have been my lucky day because as I was begging the chemist to do the shot three days early the news was coming out about the reduced time period, so I wasn't breaking any rules by jumping the gun. They still had to ring for permission though because the system hadn't been updated. Bureaucracy is an obstacle course some days.
Cat has pink pills, for a UTI, it's a pain getting old, be we people or feline, but after the first dose (and a trip to the vet via mobility scooter!!) she is feeling much better. I have a feeling the trip down Lake Road was a lesson in itself! It certainly shut her up for a while. And her appetite has recovered, three breakfasts so far since 4am...

Wish someone would do that for me, despite my only jab after effect being a slightly sore arm. I quite fancy breakfast in bed...

Kiwimade64, yes that site has some gorgeous things.

Managed to mow the back lawn as we're supposed to get rain later. And no doubt it'll arrive at just the time I have to go out - Dr's appointment & I hope, a quick visit to the library.
I'm due for a booster too so might see about that if the mall chemist is OK with it & not too busy.

morning ladies Smile Rain is meant to get to us on Sunday so it looks like we're back to watering until then.

Yesterday I did a quick google search and found a walk in vaccination center at Te Aroha so MrK and I blatted over to have him jabbed. He feels a lot better having it done and I could feel the stress levels going down within me too. No problems, just a bit achy in the joints. An early night and he's fine.

Today is housework day but that won't take long to do. I have a begonia to pot today as well. I planted the plants my sister-in-law gave me yesterday but had run out of potting mix. Bought some on our way home so I'm all good to go there. While planting the tulip bulbs I came across one teeny tiny camellia seedling. My sister-in-law has always admired the parent of the seedling so I have that wee seedling to pot for her as well. I've never seen seedlings from this camellia before and it was just sheer chance I didn't pull it out as a weed.

I'm hoping to make time to sew my tote bag and I've been asked to sew nine or ten tiny pouches for a friend. So a few things on the sewing list. I need to think about what to embroider next and what purpose it will have.

Good morning.

Hanging out for some decent rainfall here as well. Glad that we can water when we need to, using our bore water meantime.

An afternoon of dentist yesterday, replacing some fillings, with a hefty account to follow and a few hours of numbness! I can still notice my jaw this morning!

Groceries this morning, a walk or bike ride and later turn a couple of ripe bananas into a cake.

Yes, good to be up to date with vaccinations now ... omicron is at our door! It's nerve wracking that NZ is opening up,  but I think it needs to happen.

Have a good day.

Morning everyone

We didnt have rain overnight on Wednesday and none yesterday. And it looks even less likely today. I noticed huge cracks in the ground yesterday. We need some..
Alot of people up the coast here have to have water trucked in and theres always people asking on FB who is the best. The trucks have been busy since before Christmas really. Its bad enough having to pay for water but having to have it trucked in is something I dont care to do. Loved having a bore at the place we lived in here when I was a kid, ice cold all the time.. !!

It does put your mind at rest having the booster eh... Having the borders open is scary, but Im going to carry on just doing what I have to do. Ive never been one to go to things with heaps of people etc.

Ive decided that Im going to sort through MrPs tools, compact and put them away. so I can tidy the garage and get it ready to have a garage sale. If all his gear is in one area I can put a tarp up and keep it out of the sale.. Id easily sell it, but its not going to be in the way too much if its packed properly. I have my own tool boxes so dont need to sort through his horrible messy tools lol.
Ill just do a hour a day, cos its very hot in there.

Off to see MrP this morning.. Have to get a needle and cotton for Bobbie to repair something. MrP said she asked for Black cotton, but she showed him what it was and he told me a yellow khaki dark colour. He used to be a car painter and decorator so I Ill take both lol.. But I doubt he will be wrong. Im not sure if She is doing the repair or if I am. lol..

Have a fab day everyone

My peaches are ripening daily, and they taste so good. Did a pot full for the freezer yesterday and should have enough for another today. Must be hitting mid summer noise levels now the cicadas are so loud. They were a bit late this year but seem to have woken up now. Wouldn't be a kiwi summer without them...

Morning all - we have rain forecasted for all next week - hope we get at least some of it - not too heavy thanks but rurally we certainly need it
My veggiepod garden gave me a surprise yesterday found a Lebanese cucumber - which are supposed to be small -hiding under the tomatoes 18 inches long - how I didnÔÇÖt see it before staggers me - must need to go to specsavers pronto - thought it would be bitter but itÔÇÖs fine
So pleased the border is opening - my first great grandchild is 2 years old and finally he will be able to jump the ditch and meet his kiwi family - my granddaughter is having her second baby in two weeks so no doubt it wonÔÇÖt be for a month or two as she will probably come without hubby -they are in business in Oz and have to keep in the back of their minds they might not get back if another strain pops up - they will work it out
HavenÔÇÖt heard the circadas thus summer yet - must be late getting to the bay - I have a reserve behind me with a creek running through it - lots of frogs - but the duckling numbers are dwindling quickly not sure why they are disappearing- maybe water rats
Coffee machine is calling
