its not the governments job to provide housing, its the governments job to incentivise other people to build housing, the current governments anti LL stance is going to result in less rental houses creating more demand for social housing, they need to give themselves a uppercut

It is the govt's job to provide housing for those who need it; the precedent has been set. We have a community responsibility to each other & if that includes housing then there are far worse things taxes could go to.
They could do worse than to emulate the govt during the 30's depression, which set about building state houses - thus providing both much needed jobs & houses. And they upgraded railways at the same time which might not be a bad idea these days either.

there is more than enough social/state housing already its just poorly administered, how many state house tenants are mismatched with the taxpayer owned/subsidised homes they live in, how many elderly tenants have been in taxpayer owned homes their children long gone, they should be moved on to something more suited to them give the large house to a family that needs it...........LOL this pack of clowns have proved they cant do railways or houses
