You can never have enough...
Good morning.

For sure that was scary km, actually confronting the intruder. I hope your sister's burglar is found and dealt with ... idiot that he is!

Is everyone getting their booster 6 months after the last one or earlier now that we can? I don't know whether to wait a bit longer (4 months since last) or get it now and be safe!

So true popeye, that the oldies don't like to complain ... it's up to their families to look out for/speak up for them!

Another hot day looming. It was good to have the cricket on yesterday, as an excuse not to do too much! I have a dress to take the hem up on and some jobs to do before grandson comes to stay the night and son/partner/dog also may stay.

Enjoy the day.

I am a little sad today, I face the end of my current project knowing just a few minutes with my darning needle to bury the last long tail of yarn will see my knitted jacket finished, done, complete. And while I am rather chuffed by the success of it - it fits! - it means I have nothing on the needles, nothing in the stash that inspires me, and am reduced to pulling out the stash buster blankie to put in some more over stitching along the seams.

Dull, dull, dull.

Buggeration.

Good morning all another hot one today a few showers promised later but they probably wonÔÇÖt eventuate - next week I will be complaining about the cold
Take care at the supermarket - over the last month customers unloading their trolley into their boot have had their handbags snatched -several people put their purse in the car then went round the back to load the groceries in the boot and their purse has been snatched - wallets and purses grabbed out of trolleys on multiple occasions while the customer is taking stuff off the shelves -a woman claimed cash had been taken out of her purse while she was in the store - they went back and watched on the security cameras - a young woman had her hand in the purse and taken the cash in a blink - the shoplifting has been mind boggling - they take an entire trolley load now -
Kiwimade I tried the lettuce you recommended - the amusing name escapes me - they are really a very nice lettuce - my cucumbers are going mad - they hide and a couple have grown a foot long before I saw them - they are supposed to be small Lebanese cucumber
Popeye the bread is being packed warm into plastic at the bakery -the people in the kitchen probably didnÔÇÖt notice the mould - itÔÇÖs driving the bakery department in the supermarket nuts because of the weather some breads are going mouldy long before the use by date - it was good Mr P pointed it out to them they will no doubt check it every day now

Drunken Woman? It is a nice lettuce, but I prefer Freckles...

Thanks Hunni -
Will try freckles next - have started germinating seeds - probably seems silly when I donÔÇÖt have to pay for my seedlings but have found some really interesting seeds - have an Indian cucumber on the go that goes golden and some heart shaped tomatoes - just planted out purple snow peas - grew them in peat pellets so transplanting is so easy for a beginner like me - just put my shade cloth on its blimmin hot out there

morning ladies Smile  A late post for me this morning but I wanted to make the most of the cool start to the day and the shade to get the spade into the edges along the concrete.

Yep, mica, the garden keeps me very busy.  But if I do a hour or so early in the morning I can keep on top of things.  Unless I do something nuts like shift a huge amount of concrete fill lol.  Then things tend to get a tad 'behind' so I'm playing catch up with those few jobs.    But I love it.  To me it's another creative outlet and I love the physical side of it.

Jan, the police told my sister-in-law the same thing.  People are stealing from open handbags and the like.  I wear a back pack zipped so would (hopefully) feel someone trying to get into my bag.  And as it's on my back I'm not leaving it in the trolley or car.  It's a small back pack but holds everything I need.  I love it as it leaves my hands free as well.

MrK has picked some more butter beans and has enough for the freezer.  They are doing a lot better than our runner beans for some reason.  He's also picked four cucumbers and we'll give one away to friends.  Two will make excellent bread and butter pickle and the last will be munched.  Last night all the vegies on our plate were from the garden.  So satisfying and I swear they taste better.

I'm still working on the frog.  It's a fun piece to do as I can mix and match stitches.  Although I can see I'll be running out of the orange shortly. If that happens before I can get to Spotlight, I'll start on the other side of the bag to tide me over.  I know the feeling, oh_hunnihunni, when you come to a crafting standstill.  It's like you're lost.

Might put the kettle on, have earned this cuppa.

Happy crafting Smile

morning ladies Smile  More hot weather today but it looks like that cyclone 9or bits of it) will be here shortly.

Yesterday I finished putting the spade into the concrete edges and now I can use that wheelie gadget with the spikes to keep it tidy.  I'm finally catching up in the garden.

I embroidered a bit more to the frog and he's looking lovely and bright in his orange and black colours.  Still a ways to go with it though.

Yesterday afternoon I took a friend to his specialist appointment in Hamilton.  It was very quiet in the city.  I was easily able to get across the four lanes of Anglesea St from our street without  any waiting.  Usually that street is buzzing with traffic, especially up by the round about.

I need to find a walk in booster place as appointments here are booked until March.  I suspect I will have a similar reaction to the second jab so might take MrK with me.  He's not due until next month.

Today is housework day so I'll get that done.  And I want to move a carnation plant that is being smothered by twitch.  I have to dig it out to dig the weed out so I thought it might be happier in a pot for a while.  If it's not too hot, I'll dig the hole for the rose I want to move.  Belle Storey is a big bossy rose and needs to be at the back.  I had no idea what she was when I planted her as she was just a half dead stick at the time.  It doesn't bother me or the roses when they are moved as long as they are well watered and I'm happy to have  a crazy flowering season.

Happy crafting  Smile

Waiting on the cyclone too, but other than a bit of wind last night and a cool change no real rain, sadly. But I got another bin full of garden waste collected. Some thunbergia escaped a pot and got in under mutabilis and honestly that pretty thing is a real pain to control. Better in a hanging basket I think. Come winter I will take the rose right down low and maybe get the rooting pieces of the vine cleared for good. I'm getting too crippled to go on struggling with the beast much longer.

And I had great success devising a free hand knit of a pair of fingerless gloves to match the jacket yesterday, and still have nearly a full ball of the yarn left over. Might have to keep an eye out for more on TM and find another project, I am very pleased with the way this one went.

A bit more gardening and a quick trip to the library today I think. I finished Freckles by Cecelia Ahern and need another good read for the weekend. Freckles was lovely...

Good morning.

Much cooler morning and we are hoping the cyclone brings us enough rain to delay further water restrictions!

A good chance to have a vege garden weed while cooler plus some more tomato plant "maintenance" and maybe a bike ride to follow.

I also will be looking for my next craft project after completing a wee tuatara, adapted from a crocodile pattern!

Birthday bbq planned for baby son (36) and family this wkd  Smile

Booster shots booked in later next week for DH and I at our local pharmacy. Not looking forward to the after effects but needs must.

Enjoy the weekend.

Morning everyone

Sounds like everyone is busy in there gardens and with crafts.

Yesterday was a poop of a day to be honest. With the end being the worst.. I watched my sister in laws funerals which was nice, I saw one of my nieces who is , I wont say a mini me cos she's big like me, But soo like me , except she got boobs.. ;lol. Must have got them from her mothers side. She was sitting next to my twin and had her hand on his back the whole time, which is exactly what I do.

Here's a question for you ladies... When you Married did you take your husbands surname? I was using MrPs long before we were married. But the funeral was in my SILs maiden name. Its something that I find annoys me more than it should perhaps.

Have had an email to say there is a house inspection on the 28th. I figured one was coming so am already well prepared, easy when your only using half the house.

Off to see MrP today and its going to be hellish to be honest. I have to try and cut his hair. yet my arm is still very sore to lift, you can see where the serum has gone into the muscle. Its red and hot still. I will get MrP to lay his hands on it tho. He has healing hands so we discovered many years ago.

Kiwimade MrP always said his Mum said to move plants at night. That way they wake u-p in the morning and dont know where they are lol...

Have a fab day everyone

We used to do that with our bees popeye, lost very few that way.

I changed my name, my maiden one was always awkward to spell for most and it was a relief to go to a simpler one, so I thought. Amazing how many times people still get it wrong!

For me though it was part of the lifelong committment to the marriage, a symbol, like wearing the ring. Which I still do, despite being a widow now for nearly 36 years. I guess I was just raised to be an old fashioned woman...

Sunny day here.

Everyone's gardens sound lovely. I like a good garden but I am more of a supervisor Big Grin DH is the gardener he  helps DD and DS.

Popeye I kept my name  though I did answer to MrsX at kids school until kids teachers encountered me professionally or just used my firstvname.

My sewing machine came home yesterday. I have been a bad SM  mum cause she really needed a service so part replaced and tension sorted too. The needle bar is getting worn so have ordered the new part goodness knows how long that will take to arrive. Tech said you must use the machine alot -  yep I sure do  Heart my main machine
Anyway gave her a whirl and freemotioned a baby quilt will cut out binding today and attach will do hand sewing next week at quilt group.
Will make DD more masks today as well.
Nothing like having SM home to get mojo back
DH has dentist appt today Dday for a tooth repair or extract outcome will decide what's for dinner tonight.

Have a good day everyone

Good morning much cooler here in the Bay but the sky is a beautiful blue so what not complain .We have warnings that we could have flooding when the cyclone hits - hope Sunflower doesnÔÇÖt get flooded again - the creek behind me needs a good clean out - the little ducklings are struggling to survive
I am dreading getting my third shot - the second one was scary - the DHB nurses came here to give me mine - my mum was still anti vac even though I got polio - she would no doubt would have refused the covid vaccine
I am on the home straight with the dreaded grey and red blanket - round two of the border done 3 to go - my granddaughter in Oz is pregnant so will have to do another baby one - her first baby is now nearly two and hasnÔÇÖt met any of his kiwi family except his Aunty who was sent over there to work on a court case and got stuck there for months which was great -
Have been given some long beetroot so will bottle them today - good job for a cool day

Well I ended up at the Dr's.

I asked the Nurse at the rest home and she said to see the Dr.

The sight is infected... apparently worse cos it had definite edges rather than just a spread.. So Im on antibiotics for a week.. But apparently its a good thing cos it shows my body is able to fight the covid side of things... And on the Abs cos of the heart stuff etc.

There was another lady there, that I know enough to say hello etc and she's had a reaction to the booster too.. her arm is massively bruised tho... I hope I manage to see her up the road to see how she got on.

So just be on the look out everyone..

This is another thing MrP and I share, we are both on the same antibiotics again lol

morning ladies Smile It's cold this morning thanks to Cody and his cold wind. Fingers and everything crossed you and Sunflowers aren't flooded again, Jan.

Mica, you won't know yourself with your sewing machine all serviced and repaired. It will be purring along! I don't suppose the technician sees many machines needing the needle bar replaced lol.

Oh wow, antibiotics, popeye. There's a walk in clinic at a local marae so I think I'll be going there for my booster. Can't get a local appointment until March otherwise.

We must have some damed tough weeds. The other day I poured freshly boiled water straight from the kettle onto the weeds in the concrete cracks and they are still alive. It killed the ants nest though so no more ants biting our feet and paws when we walk through the gate. This morning I'll do the gardening stuff I planned to do yesterday but never got to it. It's not much, just pottering about now but still satisfying. A little bit every day and it's amazing what gets done.

My frog is looking pretty good if I do say so myself. I've embroidered along his back and am working on his head and eye now. He's sitting on his haunches facing the side so I only have one eye to do.

I have to set the rat trap near the pump shed. We came home from friend's last evening to find the Furry One in the pump shed (he needs a bath, he's filthy) and nek minute a blo*** huge rat came racing out of the shed with the Furry One in hot pursuit. It was huge, the biggest we have seen around here. Am wondering if it was the one the sparrows chased away from their nest a few weeks ago.

Time to get cracking, the morning is marching on.

Happy crafting Smile

Morning everyone.

We haver a little wind but nothing out of the ordinary, and its sunny. On the whole I think we are pretty lucky when it comes to the bad weather.

Last night I marked my arm like they do ion the hospitals. Im glad I did cos it has spread. by a couple of inches. but Ill give it till Monday like the Dr said.. Its starting to itch a little too.

This morning Im going to to face MrPs room. I just need to put all his vehicle collection and picture that I simply put on the bed. And some clothes. Then Ill put a duvet cover on the bed to make it look nicer.

Then its back to the Cricket. A sister friend told me last night that her and her hubby will take me to a live game next season. Something Ive Never done, not for any form of sport. The three of us together will be trouble lol.

MrP was good yesterday and I managed to trim off the curls lol.. When his hair grows it goes a little wavy and I call him Goldielocks lol... Only its silver lol. Then he happily sat there and cut the ham off the bone I took up.

Have a fab day everyone

I confess I got out the Roundup yesterday. I know, it is a horrible chemical concoction but the target plant is beyond my half hearted efforts and has to go. And I was very careful. And this morning it is looking very sick, so at least doing the bad thing has worked. Fingers and toes crossed.

I will be replacing it with hydrangeas. Much easier to keep disciplined!

Sunny and calm.

That rat sounds too well fed pity the furry one was unsuccessful KM
Looking forward to seeing your frog.

Hope the antibiotics are working Popeye sorry that you had the bad lu k to get an infection.

Didn't get up to much yesterday had a friend pop in for coffee in the morning, then took DH to his dentist appt, the tooth has been saved . Decided to have a nice lunch so went to local Vietnamese, DH had creamy chicken curry and I had a crunchy beef salad.  Not a lettuce leaf in sight. A mountain of mung beans, coriander and mint with a delicious dressing.and generous amount of beef. It was yummy.

Sewed on binding and have started to stitch down as I won't be attending quilt group, got haircut appt and can't get another next week. Will make sure that clash doesn't happen again.

No real plans for today might start prepping DD quilt top to be quilted.
Hoping DH will move soon to walk the k9s before it gets to hot

Hope East Coast people keep their feet dry

Have a good day
