Yay the MIL is NOT moving in - PHEW but she needs

to have a phone which LOOKS like an ordinary 'home portable' phone but is actually a cellphone.........Ideas please.

could you bodge together something with a shoebox, staples, sticky tape and blu tack?

why the actually a cellphone requirement?

are we trying to contain costs, or is there no cabling etc where she is?

this is probably the cheapest landline option

She's going to be in a rest home. So we just want to be able to call her and her to make occasional calls out.

I saw this phone online which is probably as close to a home phone as you can get. It is only able to call 3 people but would be easy for someone like your Mil to use. I don't know if it is available in NZ or price, so may not be very helpful.
